From eil.com about the special release:

ENYA The Very Best Of Enya (2009 Japanese limited edition 2-disc set, comprised of 24-track CD album, collecting together the greatest recordings from the legendary singer/songwriter - no tracklisting or artwork as yet, plus bonus Region 2 NTSC DVD featuring videos and performance footage [actual content TBC]; picture sleeve + obi strip, more details to follow...).

Definately 24 songs which is good then! I'll amend my predictions list soon.
You really don't like Fallen Embers, David? :o

Nahhh I just find it very... middle of the road tbh. :( I don't dislike it as such... not like IICBWYA, Drifting or River anyway!

I love Drifting and River. I'm starting to get into Fallen Embers more...If I Could Be Where You Are, some days it hits me, others not...I wouldn't call it her strongest.
I noticed today Enya and Norah Jones are releasing on the same day, many people would be fans of both these so i hope enya doesnt suffer for it,
I agree Enya always sells well and this album will sell again no doubt, just with them releasing the same week it may dent her first week sales, but all going well its enya that will dent norah jones sales.
we really wont find this coming around and its something nice to look forward to buying aswell as there alot of new releases of interest to me of late.
Collectors need something to waffle about....hurry up, November 16.....
Still not appeared on Amazon UK or HMV here, I'm sure it'll be here soon enough anyway! I'm going to crack on and add the four other tracks I think will make the album now anyway...

Certainties

Amarantine - Amarantine

It's in the Rain - Amarantine

Trains and Winter Rains - And Winter Came

My! My! Time Flies! - And Winter Came

Only Time - A Day Without Rain

May It Be - Misc.

Anywhere Is - The Memory of Trees

Caribbean Blue - Shepherd Moons

Orinoco Flow - Watermark

I can't see any of the above being omitted at all, so that's nine of the 20 pretty much guaranteed I think. Following on from recent discussions then regarding Enya and Roma's personal favourites...

Fallen Embers - A Day Without Rain

Marble Halls - Shepherd Moons

Water Shows the Hidden Heart - Amarantine

And we shouldn't forget Nicky... wasn't it him who really wanted this whole 'choir of one' on And Winter Came? Well, let's say that's what he wants to contribute as his personal highlight, we get stuck once again with...

Oiche Chiuin (Chorale) - And Winter Came

So that's 13 of the 20... I'll have a stab at the remaining seven!

Sumiregusa - Amarantine

Someone Said Goodbye - Amarantine

I think Enya may choose the remix of Someone Said Goodbye for the album, and I can't imagine Sumiregusa missing out either myself...

Last Time by Moonlight - And Winter Came

Simply too good to miss out...

I Want Tomorrow - The Celts

This would sound good re-recorded I think, though I'm not sure it'll happen!

Wild Child - A Day Without Rain

Evening Falls - Watermark

Two singles with reasonable success. I think Evening Falls went top 20 in the UK as well which is good. For the final track I'll stick my neck out and say we'll get a new song. I hope so anyway!

So...

1. Orinoco Flow - Could an Enya best of not open with this song? I don't think so!

2. It's in the Rain - Sticking with the relatively upbeat theme, I wouldn't be surprised to see this early on on the album either.

3. Caribbean Blue - Once again, keeping with the upbeat theme, just as Enya did on Paint the Sky with Stars.

4. Only Time - Slight diversion here, but Enya's strongest selling single (I think) needs to be on near the start!

5. Trains and Winter Rains - I still love this song, it's so different to most Enya stuff and it really reminds me of starting university.

6. I Want Tomorrow - Time to get in the mood for a slow batch methinks...

7. May It Be - And what better way to start that slow batch with this.

8. Last Time by Moonlight - And then this.

9. Amarantine - Speeding things up slightly...

10. Someone Said Goodbye - Hmm I do think a better song could replace this, but I can't see it failing to make the cut at all.

11. Anywhere Is - The song that introduced me to Enya, and one of my all time faves!

12. Wild Child - Another great song.

13. **NEW TRACK** - Please!!!

14. Sumiregusa - Very obscure one this, but it showcases Enya's talents further with the Japanese singing.

15. Marble Halls - Shame Enya loves this one...

16. Fallen Embers - And this...

17. My! My! Time Flies! - This can't not be on the album. So different and if we don't get a new song I'd like this to be the 'lead single'.

18. Evening Falls - Should have been on the 1997 album, so it had better make this one!

19. Oiche Chiuin - I'll refrain from saying too much here.

20. Water Shows the Hidden Heart - The perfect way to close the album, and Loxian definately needs at the very least one inclusion on the album!

Ok so here are the four other songs I think that have a chance of making it onto the album...

Miraculum - And Winter Came

The Celts - The Celts

Watermark - Watermark

Book of Days - Shepherd Moons

I probably should've considered all four of those beforehand - Watermark in particular as that made the Princess Diana CD way back when... I think Enya probably considers The Celts as one of her finer pieces too seeing as it was one of the first songs she wrote and tbh is head and shoulders above most of said album. Miraculum well... everyone on Unity seems to think it will be included, maybe even have the album centred around it so I suppose I'm jumping on the bandwagon there! And Book of Days is one of Enya's more memorable and highest charting songs, so I suppose it makes sense to have that one too. Here is my revised tracklist anyway...

6. I Want Tomorrow - Time to get in the mood for a slow batch methinks...

7. May It Be - And what better way to start that slow batch with this.

8. Last Time by Moonlight - And then this.

9. Watermark

10. The Celts

11. Amarantine - Speeding things up slightly...

12. Someone Said Goodbye - Hmm I do think a better song could replace this, but I can't see it failing to make the cut at all.

13. Anywhere Is - The song that introduced me to Enya, and one of my all time faves!

14. Wild Child - Another great song.

15. Book of Days

16. **NEW TRACK** - Please!!!

17. Sumiregusa - Very obscure one this, but it showcases Enya's talents further with the Japanese singing.

18. Miraculum

19. Marble Halls - Shame Enya loves this one...

20. Fallen Embers - And this...

24. Water Shows the Hidden Heart - The perfect way to close the album, and Loxian definately needs at the very least one inclusion on the album!

Thoughts? I hope I'm fairly accurate! I'll work out how long that would make the album soon anyway to see if it would actually be possible - ie. less than 80 minutes.

Hmm will with all that added up and having the possible new track at 3:30, it totals 88:32, which I believe would be too long for a normal album, as most CDs only have the capacity to hold 80 minutes worth of music. I could be wrong there though, but if I'm not that would suggest a few shorter songs might make it - Pilgrim, To Go Beyond for example. I hope we find out within the next couple of weeks anyway! :w00t:
