Posted August 19, 200915 yr Grandmother of songstress dies OBITUARY: Selina Twain, 1923-2009 In a week, while visiting fans are celebrating Shania Twain's career, a key member of the singer's family has died. Selina Twain, grandmother of the Timmins' songstress, passed away on Wednesday. She was 86. Selina died at the Extendicare Nursing Home in Schumacher where she had been living. She is predeceased by her husband Gerald as well as four of their five children including a son Jerry, who was Shania's stepfather. Jerry and his wife Sharon, died in a car accident in November 1987, leaving Shania to care for her sister Carrie Ann and half-brothers Mark and Darryl. Selina is survived by a daughter, Lorelei, along with 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Selina are being held on Monday at St. Anthony's Cathedral in Timmins.
