December 30, 200915 yr You should watch Alien it's a lot better than Avatar. And James Cameron directed the sequel Aliens  which is also better than Avatar.
December 30, 200915 yr She wasnt at her best in Avatar tbh, but she is amazing in Alien and Aliens, I dont think it was her fault she was bad in Avatar though, more the script and her character.
December 30, 200915 yr I saw this for the second time today and still as good as the first time and i didnt get bored once!
January 2, 201015 yr Finally saw this tonight, I thought it was probably the most visually stunning film I've ever saw, and It was generally really good, I do belive the storyline could have been a little better and that it seemed to drag on a bit towards the end, but overall it was good, I'd say 7.5/10
January 3, 201015 yr This film is basically Dances With Wolves were the characters, plot and acting takes 2nd place to groundbreaking effects that actually look like a video game. Utter crap and indicative of Hollywoods constant dumbing down. And I already thought they were scraping the barrel years ago. Cameron is now oficially one of Hollywood's great fallen idols
January 3, 201015 yr Cameron is now oficially one of Hollywood's great fallen idols I'm not quite sure how you can describe him as fallen. He's on his way to having the top two highest grossing films of all time, so he's still doing pretty well. Avatar will have earned over $800 mllion by the end of the weekend, and is still managing $15-$20 million a day. The film certainly didn't break any new ground with it's storyline, but it's simple fact that it was a huge technical achievement, and most definitely a success. Let's also not forget the job done by the actors behind the main Navi characters. Superb.

Avatar will have earned over $800 mllion by the end of the weekend, and is still managing $15-$20 million a day. Artistically speaking. He's made a very expensive non-interactive video game. Takings are irrelevant. Just because a lot of people watch it doesn't make it a good film. Edited January 3, 201015 yr by Severin
January 3, 201015 yr he has fallen artistically, not business wise. sadly the film indsutry, particulary hollywood is business > art. it's a sad fact.
January 3, 201015 yr You should watch Alien it's a lot better than Avatar. And James Cameron directed the sequel Aliens  which is also better than Avatar. OK I saw Alien yesterday and it is pretty awesome. Dunno if it's better than Avatar though. Will watch Aliens tonight. (Bought the box set - £17 in HMV!!)
January 3, 201015 yr OK I saw Alien yesterday and it is pretty awesome. Dunno if it's better than Avatar though. Will watch Aliens tonight. (Bought the box set - £17 in HMV!!) Aliens is very different to Alien. Where the first is a horror movie in space the second is a war film in space. Approach it as such and it will be immense fun. Also the special edition is much longer but has a slower build up that explains more.
January 3, 201015 yr OK I saw Alien yesterday and it is pretty awesome. Dunno if it's better than Avatar though. Will watch Aliens tonight. (Bought the box set - £17 in HMV!!) yeah Alien is great, and Weaver is brilliant in it, Aliens is a good one to look at though, as it's directed by Cameron (I perfer Alien though, directed by Ridley Scott, who imo is much better than James Cameron).
January 3, 201015 yr Fourth biggest grossing worldwide film of all time. :o http://boxofficemojo.com/alltime/world/ And I still haven't seen it! Hopefully soon. Edited January 3, 201015 yr by Rain
January 4, 201015 yr Sigourney Weaver was the worst thing about this film. I've only ever seen her in this, is she generally a $h!t actress? Disagreed. The strongest imo, easily. Though none of the acting stood out to me as brilliant tbh.
January 4, 201015 yr I also thought Weaver was good. She's not winning any awards for her performance but she certainly wasn't awful. She did her best with the pretty poor dialogue she was given. It's amazing that this is now the fastest ever movie to reach a billion. This will easily surpass LOTR3 to become number 2 of all time. I expected it to do well, but not that well, so quickly.
January 4, 201015 yr OMG I just saw this last nite...easily the best movie of the decade...dark knight was the last movie that impressed me...and it made me cry...I don't know why
January 7, 201015 yr Author Avatar has become the second highest-grossing movie of all time after just 21 days on release, says Deadline Hollywood. James Cameron's 3D blockbuster is thought to have surpassed the box office totals of Lord Of The Rings: Return Of The King last night. Avatar's worldwide gross now stands at more than $1.12 billion. Cameron is now competing against himself for the number one spot. His 1997 film Titanic pulled in $1.84 billion on its theatrical release. Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and The Dark Knight stand at numbers four and five respectively on the all-time box office list. Im surprised its actually made that much. I knew this film was going to big, but in comparison to Titanic i had no idea...
January 7, 201015 yr Im surprised its actually made that much. I knew this film was going to big, but in comparison to Titanic i had no idea... It's mis-leading though. Ticket sales are higher now, and because it's in 3-D you have to pay extra - so less people see it, but more money generated. Still yet to see this, don't know whether i'll catch it until it comes out on DVD!
January 7, 201015 yr Avatar's success is simply amazing. And unlike mindless crap like 2012, this is a critically acclaimed film that deserves the success. I know people who have gone to see it that havent been to the cinema since Return Of The King in 2003
