Michael Jackson Hopes To Restart Career In Europe

June 27, 2006, 6:10 PM ET

Michael Jackson, who earlier this year shuttered his Neverland Valley Ranch in California, is moving to Europe to reignite a musical career stalled by his sex abuse trial. A spokeswoman for Jackson said today (June 27) that the 47-year-old pop star was shopping for a home in Europe but had not finalized his plans.

Jackson has spent much of his time in Bahrain since his acquittal on child molestation charges in June of 2005. Spokeswoman Raymone Bain said Jackson has also severed ties with his longtime business managers as part of a "sweeping restructuring" of his affairs.

"He's just decided that with all of the projects he's going to be involved with and all of the people he's beginning to work with in the music industry, it's easier [to live in Europe]," Bain said. "He'll be going back and forth to Bahrain but Europe will be his principal residence."

Jackson has named her his general manager and hired New York-based attorney L. Londell McMillan to oversee his business and legal affairs, she said.

Jackson, who has made few public appearances since the end of his sensational trial, had previously announced plans to release an album in 2007 and was considering a tour.

Bain said Jackson had no plans to sell Neverland, a 2,800-acre) ranch in the California foothills where he was accused of molesting a young cancer patient. In March, state authorities ordered Jackson to close Neverland and fined him more than $100,000 for failing to pay the staff there or maintain proper insurance. Bain said the self-styled King of Pop now maintains the sprawling estate, famed for its Disneyland-like rides and zoo, with a small staff.

"He still owns Neverland and he's still providing the funding for its upkeep," she said. "I'm sure at some point in time he will move back to Neverland, that's not out of the question. It's not in the immediate future but it's not far-fetched."

Bain said Jackson has been visiting Ireland and France, where he took his children to the Disneyland resort, and "having a number of meetings charting out his musical future and his career."

Prosecutors asserted during Jackson's trial that the former child star, who ruled the pop charts in the 1980s, was in precarious financial shape due to mounting debts. In April, Jackson reached a deal to refinance more than $200 million in loans secured by his stake in the Beatles' song catalog.

........... how come he is still adored by millions, but the likes of gary glitter are (rightly) detested?

Well probebly cause Glitter was found guilty and Jacko was'nt. And also the fact that Jacko is one of (if not the) greatest performer of all time ;) and has a legendary collection of pop classics ^_^

But as a person he is a weirdo :(

Michael has had a massive influence on loads of other artists. Without michael jackson Anastacia would never of got a record deal!

And like Scotty said, Michael is one of the greatest performers of all time! If there was no michael i would also say that people like Justin Timberlake probaly wouldnt be a good dancer.

Glitter is a cruel, vile & sickening man. He gave nothing to the world, but Michael gave his all to the world.

I also think that it is wrong that court and all that is brung into his music. His music has nothing to do what so ever with what happened. Maybe for all we know everyone could be lying. Michael might not of done nothing. But because we know what people like huntly, glitter and people like that have done, thats why they are detested.

Michael was proven not guilty, like i said, nothing could of happened so michael has no right to be detested by everyone.

Maybe it's a good thing that Jacko is comming back, it may be like the past comming to the future

Cos Jacko has done nothing wrong, was found not guilty.

But as a person he is a weirdo :(

That's exactly what I would have said ^_^

I don't think he'll have a big comeback, he's an immense talent, but he's had too much bad press to rekindle his career imo :P
