September 15, 200915 yr I thought Every Step was supposed to be the next single? Nooo, that was the buzz single, supposedly to get people talking about the album etc. Never been intended for a single release.
October 1, 200915 yr The performance of this from Jools: A3tnljWMLxM She was great on it but her backing singers were a bit off, didn't really go well with her at all. Strange, because that's he usual singers as well.
October 2, 200915 yr God, that performance was so boring! Glad I didn't go to the album launch now coz I probably would have left after 20 minutes anyway if it was as boring and non eventful as that. The material on this album is seriously the biggest load of sh*t she's ever tried to push forward. Why cant she just be true to her voice and give up on this light-weight, vacuous pop. She has some of the fiercest, slickest, soul, funk and R&B vocals & vibes to grace these shores yet she insists on pushing ahead with this sub-standard pop. Beverley Knight trying to do pop is like Britney Spears trying to do soul...
October 2, 200915 yr It sounds weird when the backing singers say Work but Bev is excellent on it as always, go Bev :D
October 3, 200915 yr God, that performance was so boring! Glad I didn't go to the album launch now coz I probably would have left after 20 minutes anyway if it was as boring and non eventful as that. Beverley Knight trying to do pop is like Britney Spears trying to do soul... I think the album launch performance was slightly better, more movement, less echo-y vocals and the backing singers weren't as loud: 76L2m5mMn14 I think being on stage and being TV are two totally different things for her, she's totally confident and has the crowd in her hands, yet comes across as very humble. I've certainly been amazed by her this year on the two occasions I've seen her and I'm looking forward to the third. This appearance did feel a bit of a let down, especially after her last appearance. "Black Butta" on there remains one of my fave live performances by anyone. I do love this album, but you certainly feel that she's going down the contemporary route. At first I was pleased with this, but I soon realised that she could release her best ever work and still fail to shift hundreds and thousands of her album. It's almost like she shouldn't have bothered trying to make chart music and should have released another out and out Soul album. Despite being around for years it seems she's only got this small hardcore fanbase and casual listeners on side and no amount of exposure seems to change that. It sounds weird when the backing singers say Work but Bev is excellent on it as always, go Bev :D Yeah, I think they were a bit loud. There are times when they totally compliment her voice, but other times they just clash. It's weird to think that these three are the actual back up vocals on the record for some songs.
October 4, 200915 yr I thought it was gona be a AA side with Soul Survivor? SS is immense! It still might be, but I think "In Your Shoes" will be the main focus with promo performances and the video/remixes. They might just tag "Soul Survivor" on the digital bundles and call it a AA side, like they did with "Every Step" and "Beautiful Night".
October 4, 200915 yr This song is amaze. One of the highlights of the album, bar Beautiful Night. Agreed, so funky and fresh. Love seeing her performing it too, can tell she loves it. "Soul Survivor" is the highlight and then "Beautiful Night" for me.
October 6, 200915 yr The Chipmunk version of this premiered on BBC 1Xtra today on the Ronnie Herel show. It's quite good, not too different. It's just a bit faster an instead of the "I keep it SUPER-WOMAN" bit it's his rap. The show will be on Listen Again soon but not yet as the show only finished 10 minutes ago.
October 6, 200915 yr Ok I didn't rip it computer was being an arse, it's alright it does sound speeded up too which is good ^_^ any news on a video?
October 6, 200915 yr Ok I didn't rip it computer was being an arse, it's alright it does sound speeded up too which is good ^_^ any news on a video? Yeah, I think it's definitely sped up. If anyone else wants to hear it, it plays at about 41-42 minutes in here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/b00n46f1 Funny you should mention the video, she's filming it today and it's sounding great. Morning my luvs! I am on set shooting my video for my song in your shoes! It's awesome! Spoof Top of the Pops circa 1986! Also my nieces, @DjMunro, booty luv, Nate James, @chipmunkartist, friends are all in it!! Chipmunk is on the single!! EXCITED!!!! XxxxI am on and off here as I am on set.@Angellicabell and @michaelunderwood are on route too!!! This will be my best video ever I think! Xxxx Lots familiar faces, glad to see Chipmunk will actually be in the video, especially as he's a bit busy right now. I'm really feeling good about this single now. Hopefully the video will be really good and get people talking about it, even if radio doesn't play it so much.
October 6, 200915 yr I know yeh, still thought Beautiful Night would have gone top 75 for sure if she only performed it more instead of doing Every Step which was just really silly.
October 6, 200915 yr I know yeh, still thought Beautiful Night would have gone top 75 for sure if she only performed it more instead of doing Every Step which was just really silly. Yeah, she seems to be more focused on promoting the album, "Every Step" on GMTV, "Too Much Heaven" on Alan Titchmarsh etc. Hopefully seeing Chipmunk in the video will get people talking and hopefully 'younger' radio stations will be more inclined to pick it up.
October 6, 200915 yr Some pics from the set: http://img126.imageshack.us/img126/5494/34417027.jpg Bryan Chambers (back up singer) and DJ Munro. http://img360.imageshack.us/img360/1630/34418620.jpg Bev - shh her outfit is a secret! Ooft, it's looking nice and retro, guess it's something to do with the song using that 80s sample.
October 6, 200915 yr Author The video is looking great! I'm glad Chipmunk will be featured in it. I think with Chipmunk being featured on this, it could do quite well. :D
