September 1, 200915 yr Any big act is always going to be 'overrated' to some degree. It happens. The fact is though they're f***ing massive. Over the years yes their quality has arguably worsened, and more bands have become more relevant such as Coldplay, Kings of Leon, Arctic Monkeys etc. - it happens in music. Their greatest hits album has sold well over a million copies - without ANY new tracks on it. I think that speaks for itself with how much of an iconic band they are/have been. Like them or hate them i'm sure pretty much every person in the country could name a couple of Oasis tracks, and i'm pretty damn sure that you couldn't do that for most other acts in the world that are still making music today aside from an odd handful (in Britain obv).
September 3, 200915 yr I'm very sad they've gone, but truth be told they did 85% of their best stuff before the Knebworth gigs, and have been in a long gradual decline since. Still I'm glad I saw them once at the Hammersmith Odean (pre release of their debut album). Anyway you might enjoy this video: Q6IyGAvbOs4 Hitler's Reaction to the Oasis Split
September 4, 200915 yr tbh not that upset, all of their more recent tracks sounded the same anyway... The split's been a long time coming.
