Given that he will probably be able to sing the aria OK, Darius will have to think very carefully about how much of a performance to give in the first week.

I think it might be a time not to shine too brightly.........to hold back a little.

He's used to being out alone on a stage while some of the others are members of a group and will feel pretty exposed out there on their own.

Darius also won't be put off by any kind of accompaniment. He's comfortable with solo guitar/piano, band, orchestra ( on stage with him or offstage, is immaterial) or no accompaniment at all.

Acting and singing at the same time is not a new experience for him.

And then there's the "presence".

I'm sure Meatloaf would like to see West End showman Darius but the watching GBP could view it as "showing off" if none of the others do the same and that arrogance accusation could rear up and bite him again.

I agree to a certain extent BT, but there's also the possibility that he could hold back and be eliminated first :o I think he needs to produce an excellent performance, but at the same time show humility, so those that don't perform as well as him don't end up getting the sympathy votes.

Let's hope there's a fair chance given to all. I can handle D not winning as long as as he gets a fair chance :)

There's an interview with Marcella somewhere - unreality web site?- and she is also worrying about appearing cocky.

The problem for them both is striking a very tricky balance.

yes I was pondering this too - too confident a performance and people call the cocky card - too held back and he could be voted off...
He'll have an opportunity to give it some thought tomorrow, provided they can see each others' performances. I reckon he should go full throttle tomorrow anyway.
He'll just do it the way he's decided to. That's Darius. When did it become a crime to be confident? It used to be that if you did your best and was proud of your effort, it'd be considered a good thing.

Yeah and I too woud love to turn the clock back to the days when there was some consideration and respect for others and all kinds of talent but I'm a realist. It's not how the world is. The GBP prefers flawed celebrities to talented ones. As soon as anyone is perceived as successful and talented, they have to be cut down to standard size.

I think personality may prove as important a factor as talent and presentation in this particular show.
In that case, it'll be between Darius and Jimmy. I still think the result will be determined by fan base size.
Chris rollins who won strictly come dancing won it on personality and was unknown to a lot of people being a sports presenter on bbc breakfast but he had a great personality and was unassuming but he amassed a large fanbase virtually from scratch.I have to admit that I voted for him several times and will do the same for D.

Chris Hollins

Ray Whittle was robbed.

But did you vote for Hollins for himself, or for his dancing ability?

I fear the same principle may emerge in D's show. Fan bases could overpower ability and personality.

hard to say, I watch strictly for the interest of seeing them learn to dance, I thought HOllins came the furthest, and I would have voted for him to win if I could have been bothered, having said that some of these programs suprise with characters you expect to have bigger fan bases losing out - perhaps it depends on th e audience, many viewer smay be outside fan bases and just vote on what they like in the program, and seeing most pop stars etc have a minority of the actual watching audience as a fanbase the vote can be unexpected

Has anyone seen anything at all to indicate that Darius was at the press launch for the show at some place whose name begins with Zarat?

There are fashion photos of Myleene and Katherine arriving, videos of Myleene and Rolando, Myleene and Bernie Nolan, Jimmy O and Vanessa White,, Danny Jones and Marcella Detroit. Interviews with just about everybody including Alex James but a great big empty space where D should have been. I'm also not sure if I've seen anything of Kym. Maybe she and Darius are doing some media things today instead.

Do you have a link for the photos, BT?

No. Sorry. If there's no Darius, I just bin them right away.

Having read all these last comments it just emphasizes what a minefield he's stepping into. He's damned if he does and he's damned if he doesn't. We know from experience, as does Darius, that no matter what he does, or how good he is, there are those out there just waiting to try to bring him down. A brave move or a mistake, I'm still not sure? Sue
