Whatever happens, Darius is back on the playing board and in a more prominent position than he's been for quite some time. Unless you count Songs of Praise as prime time, he hasn't been on a prime time show as a singer since Ant and Dec's in 2005.

I've just been listening to Scott Mills on Radio 1 (I hardly ever listen but my husband rang me to say they were going to be discussing PSTOS). Kym Marsh and Danny Jones were in the studio but I don't think they managed to promote the show very well as Scott Mills several times made the point that opera 'sends him to sleep'. Kym said that all the songs would be in a foreign language which only added to his opinion. They went through the judges and mentors and a couple of times Scott Mills asked who else was taking part but they got sidetracked and the question was never answered!. At the end of the interview Scott said 'Darius is taking part isn't he and then they mentioned his name change. Neither knew why he had changed his name but Kim said 'Didn't he get married?' (I wonder!!) Anyway, at least Darius got a mention....

Also, Meatloaf was on 'Loose Women' supposedly to promote PSTOS. Poor Kate Thornton.... he was completely OTT talking about everything and anything other than the show. He is certainly a big personality (and I love his music) but he was more concerned about his new album coming out in March!!!

At least they managed to mention that the show begins at 9p.m. on Friday.

Rolando Villazon's putting out an album too and Katherine Jenkins is building up for the release of her album believe in America.

Scott Mills was obviously after the Darius story. I don't know why he didn't just tweet.

And McFly have a new album due out..... so, let's hope that Darius does too!!! :cheer: :D

Darus will need more than this show to put an album out on wont he.I do worry about him on this show when I see the other fanbases. I feel singing well wont come into it but he needs longer than one week to make an impact.Rhydian good as he was didnt win the xfactor. However I feel there are lots of acts out there who are not in the charts yet are regularly on tv ie. aled jones, cliff richard. ronan keating etc etc so why not D.
Cliff Richard has had a VERY long career - it's not quite the same as Darius. Although I prefer D of the two, you cannot downplay what great chart success he had. If DJ's had not refused to play his music, he probably still would have.

I couldn't take to the way Rhydian sang at all - it's hard for me to say exactly why . Too old style West End, too embellished.

I love Darius's work because he sings very cleanly and doesn't split vowels or ad lib and I can hear all his words. Lyrics and the emotions they convey are very important to me.

Rhydian left me cold. I've seen him on tv during this years x-factor (Mum's choice of programme that I had to watch with her - she's been told to choose something else next time) and he seems to have matured quite a bit. Not keen on his singing though. I'm not saying it isn't good - just really doesn't appeal to me.

All these new albums to be released in the near future......sounds like it's going to be every man for himself.

Wonder how much self-promotion we shall get.

always the way, they all seem to be using this show as a platform, but it wouldnt suprise me if Darius didnt - used to him missing out.

as for rydhian, he can sing fo sure, but a lot of people can sing - that doesnt impress me much, I dont like something about his vocal tone so it leaves me cold -

Susan Boyle has a good voice, loved wild horses but didnt even know it was her singing at first, but still her voice doesnt move me to buy into it,

they are all getting a pot shot on this show, either guest signers or judges..or contestants, we will be awash with CDS, I wonder if the arias sung will make it onto a CD of the show?

I think all the artists have a lot to offer...

Bernie Nolan: lead singer in the Nolan's and a solo singer. She’s also an actress of screen, stage and musical theatre.

Kim Marsh: Singer in hear' say and a solo singer. She’s also an actress of screen, stage and musical theatre.

Marcella Detroit: One half of Shakespears Sister and a solo singer. She has a soprano voice and is a guitarist and songwriter.

Vanessa White: Member of The Saturday's girl band and solo singer, she has an extensive vocal range. Co- written songs and appeared in several theatre productions.

Alex James: Member of band Blur plays bass guitar. Music co-writer and co-producer and writes for British newspapers. Hosted and presented on Classic FM

Danny Jones: Member of band Mcfly. Singer, guitarist and song writer.

Jimmy Osmond: Member of the Osmond's group and solo singer. Appeared in Pantomime and musical theatre.

Darius: Solo singer, song writer, musician & West End actor. Appeared in the Scottish Opera as a teenager.

Darius aside, the ladies I feel are stronger than the Men.

Men don’t vote as much as women so the men may have a better chance of getting the female votes. Unless he has an amazing voice that no one has heard yet I think Alex is the weak link.

When Darius appeared on Pop Idol the Media had already done their worse and would have you believe Darius was the most hated person in Britain. Darius turned that around and won over a large majority of the public so I see no reason why he can’t do that again, plus he is the strongest singer among the men. :)

The bottom two contestants will have a sing off and the judges will choose who goes. I just wish this was a show where singers could push themselves and learn a new discipline rather than a vote off popularity contest.

I also wish Meatloaf wasn't on the judging panel. I've seen him in interviews and he comes across as obnoxious and intimidating. :(

That's his style - he's going to be the Simon Cowell equivalent. Still, he has sung in Opera which makes 2 people who have on this show - 3 if you include 14 yr old Darius in the boys chorus.
Maybe Meatloaf has his eye on the up-coming vacancy when Simon Cowell leaves. If so he will be all sarcasm and put-downs.

meatloaf always puts me in mind of brian blessed - somewhat unhinged.

Bernie Nolan was on some program, was it the abba one, and she was exceptional singing one song - was it winner takes it all, I cant quite recall, I do know I thought her version was superior to the original, she has a wonderful voice. I wish I could recall what it was now, it was one of those grease, abba, Andrew L Webber type tribute programs - a while back

Thought Meatloaf was awful on Loose Women, really full of himself. I could imagine him thinking that only his opinion was important and shouting everyone else down, although he did say he wasn't there just to be nasty. Sue

Bring it on.

Darius has faced down Nasty Nigel. He's faced down Simon Cowell. Darius has spiritual strength. There's a part of his big heart the uncharitable can never get to.

It seems like the Scottish press have noticed that D is back. Took them long enough! I think there's something in today's Record. I'll go out later and get one.

Did Darius sing Nessun Dorma last night?

Edited by Baytree

Meatloaf overpowered the rest of the jury but he was far from mean last night. He seemed more interested in the performance than the vocal.
how was Darius performance wise, I always feel he performs exceptionally well - he did on songs of praise, very operatic, even if the songs werent opera
