So this is the news we've waited so long for! Oh, I'm really not sure about any of this. Another reality show, wasn't the way I hoped Darius would go. As somebody has already said, I don't want him judged again by people with an ulterior motive. From past experience we know what will happen. :(

As for the name change he'll always be Darius Danesh to me. Sue

Well, only 2 weeks to get a sample of what it'll be like. I shall sit and worry until then. On a plus note, my son had a much easier trip back to Edinburgh than he did getting here for Christmas. I miss him already. Stupid person that I am.

It isnt to say that his next album would be opera - Susan Boyle is rumoured to be duetting on this programme wih Andre Bocelli who is an opera star, however I wouldnt call Susans album operatic nor would I call Rhydians first

album operatic. more crossover. Nor would I really call Catherine jenkins operatic although she does warble (she is mentoring the group) but Darius is more than capable of different styles just like he does different accents. what I do find sad is that is why his talent is being stifled .

That's not stupid, that's being a mum. Sue

I have nothing to worry about my son for now - which is a lovely feeling. I'll save the worry for other members of my family with a Darius bit added on.

From todays Sunday mail.

Darius Danesh among contestants trying hand at opera in new ITV reality show

Jan 2 2010

EIGHT pop stars are set to try their hand at opera for a new ITV reality show.

Former Hear'Say singer Kym Marsh, now a Coronation Street regular, is one of the early favourites to win Pop Star to Opera Star. But she faces a challenge from Jimmy Osmond, Blur's Alex James and Bernie Nolan.

The line-up is completed by McFly's Danny Jones, former Pop Idol contestant Darius Danesh, Shakespeare's Sister's Marcella Detroit and Vanessa White from girl band The Saturdays.

Katherine Jenkins will act as a mentor to the stars, along with tenor Rolando Villazon.

And they will be judged on their efforts by rock legend Meat Loaf and TV makeover king Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen.

Hosted by Myleene Klass and Alan Titchmarsh, the show kicks off on January15.

If you saw another certain site you would think that even more. I can see the thinking re the scots connection out there but I would have thought that Natashas connections would have overcome that to some degree although watching the 100 musicals programmes the other night one actor in the Lion king said he had NINE auditions before he got the part.It is obvious also in the musicals world that certain producers have their favourites.I think entering american pop idol with the change of name would have more impact but I think it is terrible after the reviews for GWTW that he has to do this especially as that sunday mail report gives the impression he is an also ran.
I wish it didn't all give me a sinking feeling in my stomach

I really wish he wasn't getting involved with another 'reality/talent show' but doesn't the saying go 'any publicity is good publicity' ! This will be prime time TV with millions of people watching. Like I said, unless people have been following Darius like we have, they will have no idea how much he has really achieved and he will be re-installing himself in people's minds. We know he has an excellent voice so he can't embarass himself and if he is being considered as only an 'also-ran', then we know how the British love an underdog!! As Darius would sing......'Here we go....(again)' :D

Personally, I just can't wait to see him back on our TV screens!!!

That's how I've been feeling. I just wish I could know he's not being set up again. Still, every person has to make decisions for themselves. He will have thought this through before he agreed to do it. By the Christmas message you can see he feels it's a good move. Doesn't stop me worrying. With my kids, I tell them my opinion and then let them get on with it. I'm there to pick up the peices if necessary and if not, they've achieved something for themselves. It's hard to sit back and watch though. He's got his entire family there to celebrate or commiserate.

In two weeks time it should all be clearer. I hate reality tv.

saw my first trailer of this program during the football last night - I thought an odd time to put it on LOL

it showed Katherine Jenkind and a very odd looking chap, I took to be the opera singer man mentoring - scarey!! didnt mention any celebs though - thing is its on at a time when skating on ice is on, and celebrity BB - one does wonder about all these shows!!!

Sorry posted in the wrong thread

I wonder what audience they are aiming for because I can't see people who are really into opera watching this, nor can I see people who are into pop finding this of interest. There are already 2 reality dance shows starting, besides Dancing On Ice, and I wonder if the public are getting tried of this type of show. Sue
I feel a bit better about this now. A rant does you good. Darius has chosen to do it and I can't imagine that he hasn't put a lot of thought into it. I'll stop the negativity and just look forward to hearing his lovely voice again.
I've put a request in for tickets. I shouldn't have because of Mum but she's egging me on. She says she'll have an extra long lunch time sleep and David has said he'll make sure she's OK. If I get tickets I'll probably be having kittens as well. At least it's near Waterloo.

Sue, I would guess this programme is aimed at older Radio 2/Classic FM audiences, supporters of Alan Titchmarsh and

Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, plus supporters of Katherine Jenkins. Myleen Klass seems to have too many irons in the fire.

I hope she is a better presenter than I'm expecting, but Alan Titchmarsh will be great, very down-to-earth, and very

witty.

Thanks Bramley. Meg, good for you. If you get tickets make sure you take your camera with you. Sue

There certainly won't be any photography allowed inside Sue(I don't think), but I wonder if D will be able to spare time outside the studio as he normally does or if he might be whisked away in a company car as seems to be the case sometimes with these type of shows. On past form, you have to be optimistic he will stop and say hello

Hope I manage to get tickets for the 14th and 15th as I will stay over in London a couple of nights if that is the case :) Has anyone else applied for tickets? Would be nice to meet up if we can :)

I'm not thinking about it yet. I've never been lucky with things like this I didn't get to any pre release things for Dive In. I hope some of ours get tickets
Well I have asked for 4 tickets Meg, so if I am lucky enough to get them you can certainly have one of mine :) Would be great to say hello again after such a long wait :)
