I don't like Heat magazine. Never seen any decent article in there about anything. Sue

They're doing a "nominate you're nicest celeb" thing.

I'm not nominating Darius because frankly he's far to classy to be on heat's list of anything. When were they ever interested in nice celebs?

Im surprised he did an interview to be quite honest let alone a picture. A mistake by D or his agent?

When people are involved in TV talent shows it's the TV people who decide what interviews the contestants do.

I don't buy a daily paper normally. Has the Daily Mail one surfaced yet?

No Ive been keeping an eye open. I am watching popstar to operastar at the moment on ITV2 simply to note what the judges are saying and it is definitely truethat they are overboard on the other contestants. This champagne aria that D is doing will need a lot of breathing and they will watch for that.

It's Rolando re Darius I don't get. I like him. I really do but I don't understand his attitude to Darius.

The man bigs up and then votes for Danny but stabs Darius every week either in his comments and/or the VT.

Week 1 = It was way below the key. Err self evidently, since he's a bass baritone matched with a tenor aria!

Week 2 - that comment about the French pounced upon by dear LL-B

Week 3 - (VT) Rolando rubs salt in the wound and says Darius didn't learn his words and the rest of the VT is all negative

Week 4 - Rolando blows a raspberry and accuses Darius of having prepared his twiddle beforehand and playing the game

Yes ive just seen that raspberry bit and it was pretty nasty. My feeling is that he is the big player in this programme or he thinks he is and Darius being so tall makes him feel inferior. He praised all the others to the hilt chucka chucka here and there etc. Him and katherine have already made it and perhaps they dont want someone new in their arena. On seeing it again he really looked so pleased at the flys comment he was banging his table etc.
He can't be nervous of Darius being good because he Rolando is well aware he's one of the best tenors in the world and Darius isn't a tenor at all. Maybe he doesn't like that Darius isn't a tenor? Have they been instructed to get rid of him? I hate reality TV.

Rolando is only using the show as a fun interlude while he recuperates before his album goes to the top of the charts and confirms his status again before all his operatic dates from March.

He's facing backlash for doing the programme and there have been snide comments about him.

I can understand why LLB and Meatloaf would feel threatened by Darius because he's everything they are not, young, attractive and talented. He's got his whole life before him to make his mark, whilst they have probably achieved all they're going to. Like you, I don't understand Rolando's animosity towards Darius. The longer he's stayed in the worse it has become. Sue

I think we need to remember that this is reality tv and that footage is chosen by the production team. It's possible, that throughout the week and on the night after the performances, that he has made similar comments on others that haven't been featured. I'd like to think that was the case, as he really does strike me as a nice guy, who makes honest comments, though of course I could be wrong.

I watched again Rolando's comments on the show and he only seemed to favour Bernie a little IMO. Most, including Darius, received praise and constructive criticism. We'll just have to see what this week brings.

It's these I find most offensive

It's as if he feels he has to undermine any positive comments from the previous week.

Right from the beginning I've felt the negativity from Rolando and always felt he didn't like Darius much.

Darius is such a nice easy going guyand most people who meet him get along well with him almost immediately.

Speculating wildly, the only thing I can think of, is that Darius hasn't had to be subservient in his career so far and as far as production/performance goes, he has always been used to working organically, creating as he goes and working as an equal with his mentors.

Darius's outward confidence and his professionalism added to his height can translate to arrogance and irritation for a few people - maybe Rolando is one of them and they clashed during the training period before the first show.

Perhaps hes been given the medias angle beforehand and believes it.
Perhaps Darius has just complained that 3 tenor pieces aren't quite right for a bass/baritone. Even Granada is really for a tenor. Darius can put his point clearly and if the mentors are trapped into what they have to get the contestants to sing, that may make waves. I don't think this is aria is really singing, so bass/tenor doesn't matter as long as he is allows to do it in the correct key. It's an aria to show how years of training enable you to control breath - which is fine only he's had about 7 weeks.
exactly, I would like to see others try this...I am hoping as D is so big, and he has had to perform on stage that he has a good pair of lungs on him, plus remember he wont be singing full blast like Opera singers, they blast out their notes so loud they must ned ot breath more !
I'll bet he's not quiet. At this stage the mike is for so all the singers, including the professionals have one. He will not have the stamina for long pieces because that is acquired in time, which he hasn't had.
He says on twitter he has butterflies before fridays performnce.
