Posted June 28, 200619 yr Mirror: 28 June 2006 EXCLUSIVE: GOLD SINGER BOND TARGETS GOLDFRAPP THEME Eva Simpson & Caroline Hedley IT'S Oh Oh heaven for electronica queen Alison Goldfrapp - she's shaken and stirred after being wooed by James Bond. We can reveal that Alison and pal Will Gregory have been offered one of the biggest honours in the music biz - to record the new Bond theme. They'll be on a mission to repeat the enormous success of previous 007 tunes, from Shirley Bassey's Goldfinger to Macca's Live And Let Die. Musical director David Arnold is keen for the Bath duo to work on the title track for Casino Royale and talks are in the final stages. The deal is potentially worth millions and could propel Goldfrapp to international stardom - along with new James Bond, Daniel Craig - when the movie is released in November. A source told us yesterday: "Alison and Will are absolutely thrilled. Nothing has been signed yet, but they're the hot favourites. "They're a slightly cooler choice than you'd expect, with bigger names in the frame set to be snubbed, but producers are determined to make Casino Royale the edgiest Bond yet to appeal to younger people. "To be asked to contribute to the soundtrack is one thing, but to record the title song is on a different scale in terms of prestige. "This will take the band to a whole new level." If there's one person who can give the duo all the advice they need on recording the song it's their fan Madonna. She, of course, recorded the theme tune to 2002 Bond flick Die Another Day. But modest Alison ruled out a collaboration with the queen of pop, saying: "I think I would look stupid next to her. She would be very agile and I'd be trying to drag myself around the stage." The news will crown an incredible 12 months for Goldfrapp. The band, whose hits include Ooh La La and Fly Me Away, have released their biggest and fastest-selling album Supernature, toured the States and are huge headliners at the big summer festivals. Another celebrity fan is Kate Moss - who, coincidentally, is an ex of the new Bond, Daniel Craig. Says our source: "Daniel has that offbeat appeal and his tryst with Kate made him headline-worthy. Goldfrapp have had an incredible year and it's set to go off the scale with this film." We can't wait... June 29, 200619 yr Author Virgin.net Music news Goldfrapp Bond theme reports denied The music director for the new James Bond film has denied newspaper reports suggesting Goldfrapp are to record the theme for the movie. The Daily Mirror claimed on Wednesday that the electro-pop act were the unlikely choice to record the soundtrack to 'Casino Royale', but Bond music director David Arnold has dismissed the story. Arnold insists The Mirror was duped by French reports following an internet hoax and insists Goldfrapp have not been chosen for the project. He told 6 Music: "The Goldfrapp thing came about I believe as a Bond fan made up a fake fan art poster and put it on the net." "He listed on the credits music by Goldfrapp as that was a band he would like to see doing it, and a French website decided that it was real so published a story. The internet is really quite amazing." Arnold revealed an artist has been chosen to record the theme song and they are currently in the studio working on the track, but he refused to unveil their identity. Does anyone want to speculate on who WILL do the next James Bond theme?
July 13, 200619 yr Goldfrapp, Felt Mountain era, would've been perfect. The thought of Sugababes doing the theme is laughable, I reckon......
