January 16, 200718 yr I am afraid to say..Darius was the only person to entice me to the West End, I have played with the idea since..but cannot sumon up the interest once I imagine darius in some part..Once I have imagined him in Pantom, or les Misrebles or something..I dont seem to be able to be bothered to see someone else..mind you I am a tight wad too..LOL
January 17, 200718 yr Im lucky PIP in that we get a lot of musicals on tour here or at Plymouth. Guys and dolls is coming to plymouth shortly with Bonnie Langford in the lead role and the actor from Casualty whose name I cant remember. I know what you mean though as it isnt the same as going to see Darius, its to do with charisma.
January 17, 200718 yr H suggested to Cleo that she try out for Mama Mia. He had high praise for Brenda Edwards, including her acting. I'd agree her singing was very good with all the oomph of the film version but I thought Brenda's acting wasn't great at all. I personally didn't see any improvement from the first time I saw her to the last time on July 8th, whereas every time I saw Darius, I could see subtle changes in intonation, body language and expression in addition to minor choreographical and production changes.
January 18, 200718 yr I would listen to whatever Brenda releases though, which I probably wouldn't have without hearing her in 'Chicago'. She had intended to do 'classic' songs, so whether I bought it or not would depend on if they were copies of a previous version or an individual rendition of a new way of working them
January 18, 200718 yr I was very disapointed that Brenda wasn't in Chicago the day I went, I really like her.
January 21, 200718 yr I was wondering if there would be a change now that chrysallis has gone over 3000 plays.
January 21, 200718 yr The latest comment is from Corin Buckeridge.I'm sure he was the irrepressably bouncy musical director on Chicago when Darius was with the show. What a character! He made me laugh so much when he had fun with the opening number of the second Act.
January 21, 200718 yr lovely to read, quote "sounding fab" Edited January 21, 200718 yr by prettyinpink
January 21, 200718 yr You are right Baytree Corin Buckeridge was the conductor at Chicago. He is a music composer and in 2004 he wrote the music for tom stoppards review Jumpers which was on in london and then transferred to broadway. He also wrote the music for a production on the three musketeers produced at the Old vic. Great to hear comments from people in the business as it were.
January 29, 200718 yr I was wondering if there would be a change now that chrysallis has gone over 3000 plays. Stop wondering. Chrysalis To Butter....has disappeared. There are only 3 songs up now. If I Could is the new one. Edited January 29, 200718 yr by Baytree
January 29, 200718 yr 'Chrysalis to butterfly' is the one I'm listening to from his myspace now. I wonder if it's staggered and the next time I log in , it changes. This is my fave of the ones on there - I'll be sorry to see it go.
January 29, 200718 yr It's changed for me now. 'Big Feather Bed' is on as well, instead of 'Let There be love'. 'Devil in You' is still there. I really dislike that track.
January 30, 200718 yr loves devil in you though doesnt he. I seem to remember that devil in you had a lot to do with him being thought of for the part in chicago in that the producers heard it and thought it was a cover and didnt realise he wrote it.
January 31, 200718 yr I noticed that straight away but thought maybe he wants to put scotland to the fore as it were. I really wonder whats is going on especially when I read in todays mirror Pop HUNK lee ryan receives tips on stardom from veteran heartthrob Don johnson during a night out on the town.
