April 3, 200718 yr I watched a clip of Nigel Harman on youtube last night. It was the routine for Luck Be A Lady Tonight. The dancing seemed to be more movement, much like Darius did in Razzle Dazzle but it was a bit faster paced.
April 3, 200718 yr I though the scene When he takes Sarah away may be his most difficult. There was more dancing required than in the rest of the show for him. We don't know if this is the current stage version or the new version though.
April 3, 200718 yr Isn't the production the same as the one Ewan McGregor and Nigel Harman did? Didn't they say it was more based on the original story than previous productions? BTW Michael Grandage, the producer, has "plans afoot" to transfer this production to Broadway in 2008.
April 4, 200718 yr I've just had 'Mystery of You' stop after 20 secs and 'Fragile' played instead - with no help from me.
April 5, 200718 yr off to youtube! I know I expect too much, but wouldnt it be great if Darius blew then away in this and went onto Broadway!!
April 5, 200718 yr That'd be lovely. As long as he found time to let us hear just his favorite new songs first. Better still, if I could chose which of his new songs he should perform. Right, now back to reality.
April 5, 200718 yr nah, not reality.that entails all my housework! I'll linger on the dreams of Darius on Broadway. Its good enough to be able to announce what he is doing as it is when people have said, "oh Darius, he seems to have disappeared hasnt he"
April 5, 200718 yr Well I would guess hopefully that this version will be song and dance and not more straight. When I was at chicago I spoke to a girl in the cloakrooms who said she had really enjoyed Chicago but Guys and dolls was slightly better. I think she would say that based on the music and dance but I could be wrong. I saw it years ago with my local amateur company doing it and they were brilliant and the actor playing DS part was an expert with sothebys and he is now on tele I think it is with flog it where he gives opinions of jewellery mostly and even on that his personality comes across.
April 5, 200718 yr I know Darius can sing and I know he can sing virtually every type of song put before him but many people in the UK are only aware of hit Me Baby... or his up tempo pop singles. I also know he's not known for dancing and he'll never be Gene Kelly but it's fun to watch him try. I thought he was really classy and light-footed too in Razzle Dazzle so I'm looking forward to seeing what progress he makes in that discipline via this musical. Few people realise that he was quite an amateur thespian before they ever saw him on TV. These musicals let Darius show that he's much more than the 2 dimensional, one trick pony they think he is. Also what he's doing re writing and recording demands total concentration, drawing so much from within, and if he's pushing that creativity to do as much as possible himself in his own studio, it will be a solitary process too. I think he needs to break that pressure now and again. One way is to get out socially in LA with Natasha, which he does occasionally but the studio is still up there just a few miles away in the hills - would he really be able to take his mind off it completely? He nearly drove himself into the ground with long sessions, crashing on the studio sofa when he was doing Dive In. That's why I think rehearsing and working with a companyand playing a character who appeals to him, although it's taking time out from the album process, conversely may well be of benefit to it in the long run.
April 5, 200718 yr I think when one reads the write up on him on the guys and dolls official tour website, one realises he is far from a one trick pony and has had more experience than you realise even on the acting front. I tried to bring the write up across but couldnt get it to go.
April 5, 200718 yr is there a link to the write up or is it easy to find on the tour site? I know the write up in the chicago pamphlet was fantastic, showing he was a lot more than people would have thought
April 6, 200718 yr http://www.guysanddollsthemusical.com/tour/ That's the link. Go to CAST at the bottom and put your mouse on Darius and click.
April 8, 200718 yr Thanks, megham. Do you think we'll get any publicity shots in advance this time? The ones they took of Darius for Chicago were brilliant. I wonder if he'll suit the hat. My impression is that the stage Sky Masterson is much more downmarket than in the film and I absolutely hate that beige suit that Nigel H wore. It looks almost as bad as the ghastly brown thing Darius wore for one PI photoshoot. Maybe I just don't like brown suits?
April 8, 200718 yr I like brown suits. I think D looks great in brown. The man in the stage show was good but, I hardly noticed him. He didn't strike me in any way. I think D has more stage presence so it'll be different anyway.
April 19, 200718 yr Does anyone know when the Princes Trust concert, mentioned in a recent comment, happened? Perhaps it was quite a while ago. I don't remember hearing about it or seeing any reports on D's sites about it.
April 19, 200718 yr I don't know. I do know that, at one time, we never found out anything official. If different people didn't 'happen' across them, we'd have never known he was doing anything. So it's quite possible that we did miss something.
April 19, 200718 yr I clicked on the guy's page and I think there's at least one photo with Darius but the photos scroll or are on a slide show which is fairly fast, so I can't be sure.
April 26, 200718 yr 'Sexy Individual' and 'Resolution' have replaced 'Kinda Love' and 'Mystery of You'. It's a shame he replaced Mystery of You' but very good that 'Kinda love' went
