Hello ladies, just been browsing Devoted to catch up on all the summer gig news, it sounds fabulous and I'm really disappointed I can't go to any this time round, anyway just happened to click on new posts and saw the latest about 606.

First of all this is fantastic news and what the event was crying out for:

"In order to ensure that as many fans as possible can get to see Will

perform here at the Club we will be asking you to confirm that neither you

nor any of your guests have previously attended any of his gigs at The 606

Club.

We are sure that you will be happy to cooperate with us in this matter but

please note that should we recognise you or any member of your party as

having attended one of Will’s gigs here before we do reserve the right to

refuse entry to the entire party "

There is no way you can argue with that, it's a completely fair and sensible request.

Secondly I am THRILLED to bits at the new names that have acquired tickets this time round! Chuffed to bits for you lovely NE ladies Gill and Ros in particular, absolutely thrilled to bits, I hope others can be successful. Massive kudos to the 606 club for making a stand with this!

Well done girls - I didn't apply this time but if, as some are saying, he's going to be doing more then I may apply again.

I'm really pleased to see they have at last got the wording right. It was left far too open to interpretation previously. Reckon all our moaning hit home. :P

A strong Will

T he Pop Idol 2002 final. Who can forget the epic sing-off between Gareth Gates and Will Young? The tension was unbearable and nerves across the country were shredded.

It barely seems possible now that the winner of the talent show, Will Young, 31, started off as a 22-year-old with a stained T-shirt, given the remarkable career he has forged.

It feels as though he has been part of the British music scene for much longer than the eight years under his belt and, if his popularity is anything to go by, he has many, many more left at the top of his craft.

When I spoke to him ahead of his open air performance at Lake Meadows in Billericay on Sunday, July 25 it sounded very much like he’s enjoying the latest stage in his career.

He said: “I just love it. A little while ago I remember feeling that I wasn’t doing enough gigs and having too many meetings instead, but a new manager has come in and it’s brilliant now.

“This year has been packed – I’ve gone from gig to gig and we’ve tried to do something a little bit different to what we did before. I’d always wanted to do gigs like Glastonbury, and now I’m doing lots of other things such as jazz shows, which I love.

“I always need to be doing stuff, always like to be doing different things. A psychologist would have a field day!”

Will also expressed his joy at being able to go on an open air tour, but recalls one of his recent Essex shows as something of a let-down.

“I was a bit disappointed with the V gig I did last year to be honest.

“They’d moved the stage from the year before and lots of people couldn’t get to it or couldn’t find it, so I don’t think it was as good as it could have been for me.

“I’m nit picking though – it’s always a great festival. And it’s been great for me actually, as people will come along who won’t come on the tour and they’ll say it wasn’t what they expected. It’s great to hear them be positive.

“The outdoor shows are a great opportunity to do something a bit different, bring in a few interesting covers, and really surprise some people.

“That’s why these open air shows will be so much fun – they almost feel freer, allowing us to do whatever we want to do.”

Will shot to fame after winning the 2002 final of Pop Idol – the precursor to The X Factor – and has had four platinum selling albums (two of which went to number one in the charts), as well as a greatest hits album and four number one singles.

But it wasn’t as easy a ride as it seemed on the surface.

“After Pop Idol I didn’t trust anybody. It took a few years to get my head around it, which wasn’t easy but I got there in the end. Now I’m incredibly lucky to be working with some great people and to have friends and colleagues I can really trust.

Aside from music, Will puts a lot of his efforts in to charity work, working with a group called Catch22, who work with young people living in difficult situations to help make a difference to their lives.

“I see it as something very important to do,” says Will.

“I really want to do more of it because there are so many people who would benefit from just a little bit more time from others.

“I don’t want to get above my station and think that I can solve all these people’s problems, but I really do want to help in whichever way I can.

“I think everybody should do charity work – the difference it can make is incredible.

“Personally, I’d like to work with depression charities much more and hopefully next year I’ll be able to start that properly.

“I have had mild depression myself and I think it’s something that just isn’t talked about enough – people brush it to one side, but it’s a serious issue which needs to be treated with much more respect.”

As well as music and charity work, we can expect some more screen work from Will, after starring in productions including Mrs. Henderson Presents, Miss Marple, and Skins.

There is a Shakespeare film in the pipeline – something which Will describes as “really creative and really challenging”.

What’s clear, however, is that a challenge is something he relishes, and we can look forward to some entertainment of the highest order when Will arrives in Billericay in this weekend.

Will is so passionate about his charity work & goes about it in such an unasuming way.

I forgot to mention That Will was #20 on the secondary ticket sales chart [musicweek] it was the first time i looked for the summer tour so i dont know whether if he has been on it before.

In a way I'm pleased he was so far down the list - it means there weren't many secondary tickets for sale.
