I stopped watching X factor when the autotune gate senario happened, felt lied to, and the wool pulled over my eyes, i really enjoyed watching the so called new live talent popping on to our screens, simon ruined that for me, so i never saw 1d at all ... thanks for clearing that up for me.

Music: The Best of July 2011

Where to begin with July? We lost Amy Winehouse and Cher Lloyd unleashed her banal brand of Jentina-rehash on the undeserving public – it’s hard to say which is worse. And how did there suddenly only get to be 4 more months of 2011? While the year seems to be disappearing faster than poor old Nicola Roberts up the iTunes 200, it’s worth bearing in mind that there’s plenty of good stuff still to come. So roll up, time for some of the best and most surprising news you may well have missed…

Will Done.

While it terrifies us to remember that it’s coming up to ten years since Will Young beat the hotly tipped-to-win Gareth Gates in the first ever series of Pop Idol, there’s more cause to celebrate. Willy has been a busy boy, slogging away with the likes of Richard X, Fred Falke and Jim Eliot creating Echoes (out on 22 August) potentially the most amazing male pop album for years. If the first single ‘Jealousy’ is anything to go by, we’re in for a right treat. With a soaring, melancholic chorus reminiscent of ‘Better Than Love’ by Hurts and brilliant (even clubbier) remix by Alias, we’re crossing our fingers that it won’t alienate his hardcore Mums ‘n Nans fanbase and will prove cool enough for Radio 1 listeners. Watch the ‘gay Black Swan’ video below and download epic new song ‘The Way I See’ for free from Amazon.co.uk.

cool enough for Radio 1 listeners.

It may ok for the listeners but not for the people who decide on their playlist. They much prefer pop gems like Swagger Jagger

Do you know when it came out it was Scott Mills' record of the week - says it all really

Thanks Bev.

Will Young Premieres “Jealousy” Music Video

UK favorite Will Young is back and sexier than ever with his new single, “Jealousy!” The sexy music video, which was inspired by the 1956?s classic movie, Trapeze, features the UK’s original Pop Idol playing a gymnast.

Like the single, Will’s highly anticipated fifth studio album, Echoes (in stores on August 22nd) was produced by electro-pop extraordinaire Richard X, who’s worked with Goldfrapp and Sophie-Ellis Bextor. The album is a different sound for the sexy singer which features dance and electronica elements. The album’s press release says:

“Will has sidestepped some of his traditional sounds to move more into the world of electronic music, making an album of sophistry and gentility that pulses with the undercurrents of the dance-floor. The sweeping strings and key changes of his hit ballads have made way for synthesised melody, towards something sparer and more controlled. ‘I had to learn to undo my musical muscle memory,’ he explains. ‘To allow space into the music.’

Will has written all but one song on ‘Echoes’ along with a personally assembled roll call of collaborators including Jim Eliot & Mima Stilwell (Kylie), Andy Cato (Groove Armada) and Pascal Gabriel (Ladyhawke).”

We’re really looking forward to Will’s new album! Click HERE to buy “Jealousy” on iTunes!

Will Young - Jealousy

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-e__H6e03SuA/Tjmkr95VgpI/AAAAAAAAAKY/lHmNCjWak5U/s320/will-young-jealousy-e1311790606750.jpg

Will Young is one of those reality stars that actually, when you think about it, should really not be associated with reality TV anymore because, lets face it, he is super talented and has made a wave in the music industry since he won Pop Idol in 2002. Proving critics wrong with number one singles & albums not only does Will writes, but he acts and sings, he has had some fantastic hits since he won Pop Idol all those years ago. My favourites are "Fridays Child, Who Am I, Leave Right Now & All Time Love" and now he is back with "Jealousy" easily a contender to become one of my favourite Will Young Songs.

Upbeat and very in-keeping with current trends but sticking to that classic sound of Will Young, he is back on form and the video is great! He dons spandex and acts all gymnasticy and leaves you wondering if he ever got what he wanted! The good thing it seems with Will, is that it is about the music an not how many number one singles he has had! Unlike so many other winners from the reality music shows who vanish into obscurity after just a few releases Will has managed to carve a successful career that is all about his music.

Anyways I love "Jealousy" and cannot get enough of it, check the video out below. Fifth album (I cannot believe it is his fifth!) "Echoes" is released 22nd August 2011, with single "Jealousy" being released the day before, I predict this will become a huge comeback for Will Young.

Will Young is CompetitiveBy Danny Fein

Posted on 04 Aug 2011 at 2:30pm

The ‘Jealousy’ singer admits he has had to develop a thick skin since entering the music business, but would never intentionally treat someone badly to get what he wanted.

He said: “I am quietly competitive. You need nerves of steel to stick around in the music business.

“But I would never walk over anyone to get what I wanted. I want to feel that I’ve done as much as I can, because we’re not here for long.”

Since rising to fame on UK TV talent show ‘Pop Idol’ in 2002, Will has released five studio albums, and he admits he is more “proud” of his accomplishments than he has ever been

He told Stylist magazine: “It’s amazing that I’m still around after five albums and a greatest hits compilation.

“I’m even more proud of my work today than I was 10 years ago. It’s not that I’m not proud of my past but what I’m doing now both in music and outside of it, is stuff I’m really happy to put my name to.”

The worst gig we ever played: musicians on their on-stage lows

http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Guardian/Pix/pictures/2011/8/5/1312498874573/Will-Young--007.jpg

It was a TV festival in Switzerland and it was in a tiny little bar. It was horrendous, from start to finish. The journey was awful because I got the wrong gate, then I got on the plane, perspiring, having held up an entire plane of journalists. And the gig was terrible. I'd just got the record contract I'd always dreamed of, I'd started writing songs, and I'd done the Jubilee gig at Buckingham Palace. Now here I was in a Spanish restaurant. I felt like I was singing at a wedding, and not even a good wedding. There were about 30 people there. I remember singing Light My Fire, squeezing between the diners in the restaurant and perching down on this woman's lap. I felt like the turn after a conference where the attendees are members of a line-dancing club. All I can say is, thank God mobile phone cameras weren't invented then, and it wasn't being filmed. It was bizarre. Still, everyone was very nice. And I got a free enchilada, followed by some chorizo – I got paid in chorizo and San Miguel. I'd never go back there, to that dark, dark time. I think about it quite a lot – when I'm singing at Bestival and the stage is sinking I think: "At least I'm not singing in a Spanish restaurant for chorizo."
