September 10, 200915 yr Soul Survivor is my favourite, although I find it rather odd the point in the song that Chaka Khan comes in...half way through the second verse randomly  Breakout would do best in BJSC I reckon if you're going to send Beverley to XXI Yeah, I almost wonder whether Chaka and Beverley were in the studio at the same time, her parts can seem rather random at times. I think it's sorta intentional though, at the live shows Mary joins in on the second verse. Bev does the first two lines, then Mary does the next two etc. then they sing together in the middle 8. It probably would, but it's probably my least favourite out of the more upbeat songs (the three you mentioned and "In Your Shoes") I feel it could do with an extra kick, someone needs to remix it.

Mary who? the one from the Calvin Harris track? I agree, Breakout wouldn't be a hit in its current form, nothing on the album would, but that owes more to the fact that Beverley isn't a 'hit single artitst' these days rather than the fact that the material is any weaker than before... Even with Radio 1 a-listing, I doubt any of the songs could go top 20 in the UK, she's not down with the chavs enough :(
September 10, 200915 yr CDs: The Beatles - Please Please Me The Beatles - With The Beatles The Beatles - A Hard Day's Night The Beatles - Beatles For Sale The Beatles - Help! The Beatles - Rubber Soul The Beatles - Revolver The Beatles - Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band The Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour The Beatles - The White Album The Beatles - Yellow Submarine The Beatles - Abbey Road The Beatles - Let It Be The Beatles - Past Masters (Vol 1 & 2) I bought Abbey Road yesterday, took it home and compared it to the 1987 CD, decided it was a no brainer to go and buy the rest because sonically they sounds miles better.

In fact, I think she was introduced to Calvin for that song by Beverley. Agreed, I don't think it's 'cool' to like Beverley or for radio/TV to play her music these days. Silly really. I'm of the opinion that if Beverley and Amanda sold "Beautiful Night" to Beyoncé, she would have made it a hit and if Beverley recorded "Halo" it would have flopped. -_- Not sure about Radio 1 though, I think "In Your Shoes" could have gone top 20 as a lead single if it got airplay from Radio 1 and TV. Even Radio 2 didn't put her higher than the B List this time. :nocheer:
September 10, 200915 yr Author that's the sad reality really...people buy some songs based on artist rather than song because Radio won't playlist singers who are likely to flop so average material by superstars clogs up the playlists instead :( I really couldn't see In Your Shoes doing any better than Beautiful Night, like I said in my album review in the Bev forum, it sounds very 2002 and the vocoder really doesn't ring true...she's better than that

I think the vocoder works, but I've read reviews saying it's like putting ketchup on fine dining. :heehee:
