Posted September 6, 200915 yr Did anyone see the girl doing take that up all night on x factor?? When simon asked what song she was singing she said up all night and he said thats not a good song, then when she finished(and she was terrible) he said it again about been a bad song. I know Simon is a take that fan and i was sure up all night is a song he would like, but, it made me think yes we love it but maybe it didnt have the mass appeal we thought it should have had, and i would love to know why some people didnt like it as much as they would normally like a take that song.
September 6, 200915 yr Well, first, i am a TT fan and i don't like all their songs, inclusive Patience, which is a mass apeal songs. And since when is Simon a TT fan? He takes only what brings money and audience, TT was such a group, that is why he brought them to X factor. My impression is that he actually is only a fan of very few things. Also i observed that if someone in media wants to say something negative about TT, they choose Mark, because, we "all know " that Gary is the genious and Mark is the flopped one. I am not disspointed if this song doesn't have a mass apeal. I am not sure i want to have a mass taste  . But, i think that song is brilliant and would have fare much better with a proper timed promotion - i still hate them and their management for realising it when Gary was not available for music but when he put the highlight only on that charity climbing. Should have been his lead single that would have helped perhaps, but it was not of a help for Mark. Well, at least they released it, which cannot be said about the brilliant Hold up a light  .

Simon judges a good song on whether it gets to number one or not. Hence he thinks the Mr Blobby song is brilliant but would probably dismiss any of the Beatles songs that didn't hit the top of the chart. Remember Simon was responsible for Robson & Jerome infesting the chart for ages ... so although he's made millions out of the music industry ... he knows jack-$h!t about music. So ... before we start dismissing the best song on The Circus album ... just because Simon Cowell thinks its crap ... think again. Funny that today I was watching a bit of 'Simon Cowell's Top 50 Pop Songs' introduced not by him but by his equally dismal second-in-command Sinitta! Amongst his 'treasures' were Sonja, about a dozen Five songs, a song by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, ... need I say more? Do we still pay any attention to his taste? And ... as Iris says ... Simon cares only about money and what can make him money. A brilliant song that makes less money than a crap song that makes millions is of no use to him. Norma Edit ... by the way, in case you'd not guessed ... I'm back! Edited September 6, 200915 yr by Norma_Snockers
September 6, 200915 yr Author I agree about Simon 100% and his taste is usually crap, in a way i worded my original post wrong, i used simon as an example i should of said people in general. As for up all night i adore it a si ador ethe circus album and even if no one else liked it i would still enjoy it. In a way what puzzles me about up all night is it is very similar in style to shine which did very well, now dont get me wrong up all night in my eyes was a hit and it has sold well over 100,000 which is good, but i suppose in short i cant underrtand why it hasnt sold 300,000 plus as when i heard it first i instantly thought huge hit.
September 6, 200915 yr Perhaps because Shine has a brilliant video, only to match with Said it all. The other videos of TT were not so direct, i think. And Up all night video is for old hippy-minded like me (i am very entertained about that old black man, i love streets fests, lol, i was the real target of the video), but not for the majority :teresa: . They promoted Shine exactly when it was released, it was not ages in the low charts like UAN. And i think UK people might not be such a big fans of the style of Simon and Garfunkel and songs with classical american sounds, like i am...
September 6, 200915 yr Author I agree on the video, i think they messed the video up as it was poor(in my opinion) and again i agree the promotion wasnt done in line with the actual release of the single, which can hamper things. I think aswell the circus had sold hugely well by the time it was release which wouldnt have helped either, but up all night did help album sales alot which was great.
