Joseph ranks every Doctor Who episode (2005-2025)
30 The Pandorica Opens / The Big Bang Series 5 Episode 12-13 Doctor: 11th Companion: Amy Pond, Rory Williams, River Song First aired: 19th and 26th June 2010 Writer: Steven Moffat Matt Smith's first series as the Doctor finished with a bang, quite literally, in a timey-wimey story that concluded the series-long arc, while laying the foundations for the rest of the Smith era. Summoned to Stonehenge in roman Britain by River Song, the Doctor discovers the Pandorica, a prison for the most deadly being in the universe, and it's opening, bringing hoards of the Doctor's enemies to see it. There's so much happening in this story and it's the kind of thing only Steven Moffat's brain could make sense of! The coincidences around Amy are a great set-up for the story, and the use of Stonehenge as the location makes it immediately memorable a visual. The Cyber Guard chasing Amy was terrifying, and I loved Rory returning to save her! The Big Bang is a bit of a headfuck but it ties everything together really well, and even on rewatches, I find myself forgetting how one or two of the plot strands are resolved because everything happens in the wrong order...! It's a great finale for the 11th Doctor too, and Matt Smith gets to show off his range, from his speech to the spaceships, to the delicate farewell to Amy in the Pandorica and his bedside monologue with young Amelia as the timeline unravels. It's a superb conclusion to an excellent, magical series, and unquestionably Smith's best finale. (and River Song as Cleopatra is a hoot)

Joseph's Hit 300 | Year-End 2025
Songs: Top 300 7 Tate McRae - Sports car | 1-2-3-3-5-7-12-14-20-21-31-30-33-38-39-x-39-18-33-x-40-x I've been a fan of Tate McRae ever since I first heard you broke me first. It was a top 10 hit in my chart, in fact, and I've enjoyed all of her subsequent material too. With two great singles already released from Tate's newly announced third album So Close to What, I was really excited for her first single of 2025, and it was love at first listen. Sports car evokes Pussycat Dolls debut album vibes, channelling Buttons in terms of how seductive and sexy a track it is. The whispered hook is genius, enhanced by top notch production, and I knew immediately that I had a contender for my favourite Tate song to date. Sure enough, Sports car debuted at #1 in my chart at the beginning of the year, becoming her very first #1 hit, and it set the tone for a momentous 2025 for Tate. So Close to What followed it to #1 in my album chart, and she scored two more #2 hits throughout the year. Sports car remains my favourite track from the era, and her discography as a whole, and it's by far her highest EOY position to date - in fact, before this year, her only EOY top 40 hit had been at #40, as a feature on Regard's You (also with Troye Sivan). It was amazing to see Sports car blossom into a huge hit globally too, tying for her highest peaking hit in the UK chart. It also popped off when I heard it live at both the Summertime Ball and Tate's own tour! End of Year Chart History 2020 | 162 | you broke me first 2021 | 040 | You (Regard, Troye Sivan & Tate McRae) 2022 | 143 | what would you do? 2022 | 184 | she's all i wanna be 2022 | 216 | uh oh 2023 | 093 | greedy 2023 | 158 | exes 2024 | 125 | It's ok I'm ok 2024 | 161 | 2 hands 2025 | 007 | Sports car 2025 | 024 | I know love (feat. 2025 in review (ansel's version)
West End Girl deservedly slaying in the albums Weeds and take me by the hand are my favourite songs to appear so far! The former is lush, their vocals have never sounded so great, and the latter was a great discovery for me last year.

Joseph's Hit 300 | Year-End 2025
Songs: Top 300 8 glaive - We Don't Leave the House | 2-1-1-1-4-5-5-7-11-12-12-16-11-... The last time glaive reached #1 in my chart was with all i do is try my best, the third single from his 2023 debut album i care so much that i don't care at all. This album saw him sidestep into more of an alt-pop lane, away from the hyperpop sound that made him famous. Subsequent releases have seen him embrace hyperpop once more, including his 2025 album Y'all, which spawned the energetic singles Asheville (#5) and Appalachia (#3) before its release. It was upon hearing the album that I heard its hidden gem - focus track and third single We Don't Leave the House, a bouncy hyperpop track about club culture and peer pressure. Landing behind Rita Ora's All Natural in its opening week, We Don't Leave the House climbed to #1 a week later to become glaive's first chart-topper in two years. It stayed there for three weeks, his best run to date, and has remained in my chart since. It matches as if as his best EOY chart position to date, and I'd say it's firmly on its way to becoming my favourite of his songs so far - the production and the melody are what caught my ear initially, but the lyrics are great too. It's a proper rave track, ironically perfect for clubs...! I'm seeing glaive live in a couple of weeks and I'm really excited to experience this song in a live setting. End of Year Chart History 2022 | 013 | minnesota is a place that exists 2022 | 017 | three wheels and it still drives! 2022 | 037 | poison 2022 | 099 | all dogs go to heaven (outro) 2022 | 134 | i wanna slam my head against the wall 2023 | 008 | as if 2023 | 038 | all i do is try my best 2023 | 088 | oh are you bipolar one or two? 2023 | 187 | the car 2023 | 193 | im nothing thats all i am 2023 | 212 | 17250 2024 | 054 | For God and Country 2024 | 082 | tijuana freestyle 2024 | 160 | huh 2024 | 255 | even when the sun is dead, will you tell them how hard i tried 2025 | 008 | We Don't Leave the House 2025 | 053 | Appalachia 2025 | 142 | Asheville

Joseph ranks every Doctor Who episode (2005-2025)
31 The Power of the Doctor 2022 BBC Centenary Special Doctor: 13th Companion: Yasmin Khan, Dan Lewis, Ace, Tegan Jovanka Also featuring: Spy Master, Kate Lethbridge-Stewart, Graham O'Brien, Inston-Vee Vinder, Jo Grant, Melanie Bush, Ian Chesterton, Fugitive Doctor, 1st Doctor, 5th Doctor, 6th Doctor, 7th Doctor, 8th Doctor First aired: 23rd October 2022 Writer: Chris Chibnall Jodie Whittaker's final episode as the Doctor formed part of the BBC's centenary celebrations, airing as the final episode of three 2022 specials (and specially commissioned separately to the previous two specials + Flux). With the Master making threats in both the present day and 1916 Russia, the Doctor returns to UNIT and meets a couple of old friends. Between them, they have to face not only the Master, but also a Cyber army, and a group of Daleks inside a volcano. There's a hell of a lot of ambition in this episode, which isn't just tying a bow on Jodie and Chris Chibnall's time on the show, but also acts as something of a love letter to the classic series. Bringing Ace and Tegan back was a great move, and I loved seeing them reunited with their respective Doctors, even if it were effectively a hologram. I think Yaz really stepped up in this episode, and it's a shame that she was only just getting into her stride as she departed after such a lengthy stint in the TARDIS. Sacha Dhawan was excellent once more as the Master, and the Cybermen were a solid threat. A rare Chibnall script where I don't really have any notes, well, other than Dan's rushed departure (necessitated by John Bishop being unavailable for much of the filming of this episode), and that's very much overshadowed by the brilliant companion support group scene near the end of the episode. How I'd love to see more of that, especially now there are a couple of newer faces that could join! Something for everyone in this episode and I think it all comes together brilliantly, finishing as the 13th Doctor's second highest episode. (also the Master dancing to Rasputin... 10/10 no notes x)
