I've heard that rehearsals for "Your Country Needs You (UK)" start on 16th January. Could that tell us something about the launch date?

And I'm also started a rumour bank topic, that could also be discussed here.

Just so people know, it is "believed to be unlikely" that NRK will pick different presenters for the final & semi-final's like Russia did.

I'm still mentally recovering from our Semi presenters.

I still have nightmare from the opening of Semi Final 1 :snif:

And so the Netherlands heading for another flop again it would seem...

Switzerland sending Michael von der Heide with Il Pleut de L'or next year... song not released yet but does anyone know much/anything about him?

He is 38 and was born in Amden, Switzerland. Released 7 albums & 16 singles. Not released an album since 2005. Took part in the German national final in 1999

Netherlands

The Netherlands are sending the song, "Ik ben verliefd, Shalalie". It is written by Pierre Kartner. His version of the song is below. The singer who will actually be singing it in Oslo will be selected on February 7th.

Denmark + Sweden = Iceland

Hera Bjork (Denmark NF 2009) is entering the Icelandic selection with a song in FRENCH (or at least the title is).

And now let's move to Norway...

The songs taking part in MGP will be presented the Wednesday before each semi-final (yes, it will be 7 songs at a time, unlike MGP 2009 as far as I remember). By the sounds of it, they will be in full.

Can't wait! My ESC mode is on full :kink:

oh dear, what the hell is wrong with The Netherlands :drama:

that song is dated, awful, sounds like it's come straight out of the 1980's Dutch cartoon Alfred J Kwak

last in the semi-final

Indeed, awful and it'd be a complete travesty to see it in the contest! :(

I just feel sorry for whoever ends up representing The Netherlands with this 'song'

I reckon odds on this winning will be as long as 300/1

I've actually seen people saying that it is catchy after a couple of listens...and I agree. But as the 6 NF participants can do it in any way they wish, I'd like to see someone maybe try and slow it down (not sure how that would work, with the time limit) into more of a ballad, and someone speed it up and maybe make it more dancey. At the moment, it is mid-tempo I'd say, and I think a female voice would suit it better.

Oh, and ignore the post about Belarus for now. ESCKaz reports the final is this month, and I'd see ESCToday saying the selection will be used for other things as well as ESC, and ESCKaz says the whole selection process will run again in February. So I don't know if the December final is the song going to ESC or not, it all seems a bit confusing

well it is catchy, but that still doesn't make it any good in my opinion :(

I can't see it being turned into a ballad, it sounds like a novelty song to me with the 'sha-la-lie' bits

Someone on another site mentioned that ESCKaz says the Swiss entry translates as "Golden Showers", and that the singer has said the song is up-tempo, and he will be joined on stage by female [backing] singers :P

Please tell me if this post is too rude and breaks the buzzjack rules :kink: I shall then delete it

But I agree, don't think it would work as a ballad but it would be nice to see one person try it, just to see how it turns out

I'm not too keen on the Dutch entry but it can only get better I suppose.

And also, what is the point in reposting something from about two posts previously?

If there is information from a country which I haven't yet get a main post on, I need to post this information [along with the name of the country in bold & underlined] even if it has just recently been posted, so I can link to it in the first post and update it. So basically, I do it just so I can easily update the information about each country as we know more - in the end, we will end up with about 38 posts with the video of the entry of the country (plus quick explanation about how it got selected, etc.), then a few other posts explaining about a country withdrawing/still not taking part. I find it easier to organise if I can link to my own post, and update when I want.

People can feel free to post information about a country, but please be aware that I may re-post it, or at least edit it into a country's post.
