Just to say that this year I've managed a bumper crop of apple cores. No apples but the cores look great.

We have a colony(?) of magpies who strip ours on the trees, and the blackbirds devour any apple or pear windfalls, but your visitor is far more colourful. There are now estimated to be 30,000 parakeets in the London area (according to

the R.S.P.B.).....they estimate 50,000 by 2010. We have already been inundated with grey squirrels and ring collared

doves! Parakeets look great, but oh dear, the shrieking when a flock gathers!!!!

What make is your laptop Spamfritter? Did your last one die the death?

We had freeview till I managed to blow it up. Haven't bothered to replace it as we didn't use it much, but now

for the first time I regret it, as I shall miss Eli Stone. Shall watch the first two episodes at my daughter's but

if I'm not keen shan't bother to replace the freeview.

wonderful picture, I have to say you are lucky to have those birds around, it is obviously too far out of London where we are for them. mind you - I do still have a bumper crop of whole apples....

The Old Viv theatre has been redesigned for The Norman Conquest into a theatre in the round.( Beautiful photo

on http://www.guardian.co.uk/stage/theatreblo.../oct/07/theatre )

GWTW was on an apron stage, very different from the usual proscenium arch stage, so the actors had audience

members on three sides. But it must be far more difficult for actors to be totally surrounded by the audience.

I don't see why it would be any more difficult for the actors. They'd simply enter within the sight of the audience as they mostly did on GWTW. I'd say the difficulties would be more for the stage crew, the set builder and the director.

I think most people in the audience want to see the expressions on the actors' faces. Very hard for the actors to

facilitate this when there are always people behind them.

Advent....got it from PC World...couldn't believe how good the price was for the spec.

My son is hoping to work in Canada and all his ITunes are on my old laptop so I was thinking of upgrading and have been looking at them for a while.

Surely that's the director's headache - to ensure the actors are positioned on the stage so that each member of the audience can see their expressions for about the same amount of the time - or the producer's problem - to perhaps make seats which offer a lesser theatrical experience a reduced price to reflect that.

We used to have starlings - then a couple of years of apples and now parakeets and squirrels. The wood pidgeons are on the elder berries and the small t*ts are everywhere.

If Darius was in it, I'd go anyway. We saw quite a bit of the back of his head in GWYW.

Which t*ts do you have, Meg. We have blue, great and coal, but I shall be very jealous if you have the pink,

long-tailed t*ts.....I've seen them only a few times, but never in our garden.

BT, you are probably right. I have never been sure how much of an actor's performance is inputted by the director,

and how much leeway is given to the actor. I suppose it depends on the individual director and actor.

Spam, your new laptop sounds fantastic. The only thing that prevents me from being wildly jealous is the knowledge

that even if I did have one, I would be no more competent than I am on this one!!!

If your laptop/pc does what you want and you don't need to do much more then you don't need to change it.

The windows and porch are completed :D looks good.

They just forgot 1 little thing..................our letter box/flap in the front door.

Some one will have to come tomorrow to cut us a hole and put one in :o

We have long tailed by the river but not in our garden. I haven't seen the jays or the green finches this year either.

I'm investing in an external hard disc - I know they can be dodgy but, I just have to haved more storage.

One thing not to do. Yesterday I was just too tired - so i went to bed about 11pm and took a book. I really liked it. I'm shattered today.

Spam.....at least it will hold off the bills!

That's true.

An external hard drive has been on my "presents for me" list for ages but real life has kept pushing it down the priority list as more urgent expenditure has been necessary.

I'll get it one day - just like the VCR to DVD recorder I hankered after for 2 years. I haven't had time to use it, other than to make sure it was working. I'll have to get in some practice before D's episode of Hotel Babylon.

I'd like one of those. I'd like to be able to record from vcr ro my hard drive even more.
