  1. Systemic racism is something that we should all be more educated on, myself included - I’m not trying to force my opinion on anybody but I’m trying to explain why what’s being posted is ignorant whether or not it’s intended to be. I’m sorry if that id coming across in the wrong way.
  2. You’re really, really missing the point though. No one is saying white pop star women can’t find hardships by the press, of course they can, but they are not automatically given a hard time or facing uphill battles because of their skin. It honestly may be worthwhile reading up on the likes of Alexandra, Keisha or other women in the industry’s experiences instead of just offering a ‘devils advocate’ point of view with white examples. It’s just unecessary.
  3. Alexandra was treated abysmally by the media as was Jamelia particularly during her stint on Loose Women, None of the girls you mentioned were subject to the same level of prejudice as Alexandra etc which hindered their careers. You agree with the first point yet take umbridge with the latter, when the two are really not mutually exclusive.
  4. Girls Aloud - Close To Love Katy Perry - Hummingbird Heartbeat Little Mix - Forget You Not P!nk - Barbies Sugababes - Never Gonna Dance Again Taylor Swift - Getaway Car

I’m sure there’s court documents online too with more details!
  6. Seemed to garner a lot of fanfare for a promo single.

I think aswell, the attitude towards racism has rightfully changed over the past year with tolerance levels finally at an all time low and any promotion Jo has done regarding the album has either erased the CBB incident or spoke about how difficult the ordeal was for her[/]. I know it’s been 14 years but considering that was really the last thing Jo featured prominently in, I think she really should’ve spoken about it before releasing the album? Maybe then radio stations etc would’ve been more open to playing her music. I love the album btw and I don’t think she really needs any more hate, and I can understand why she hasn’t opened up about it.

The performance definitely got better as it progressed!
  10. Absolutely agree about Jade, I’m also not a fan of the constant growling but that aside I am enjoying it! I don’t want to be that person though but I do actually feel like this is the first song since her departure that I feel actually misses Jesy’s voice.

It’s great, and I know it doesn’t mean much in 2021, but it’s weird to see them knock Little Mix down a spot on ITunes.
  12. Has Soon You’ll Get Better been used?

I would vote Barbies? I’m not sure how popular it is here though!
  14. The video was fine but didn’t really have any replay value! The hand gestures were really distracting too.
  15. I agree completely, it’s not great. Jade may aswell be singing in a different language for the majority of it because her diction is terrible. The rest of it is just very middle of the road.
  16. tbf the post I replied to was literally you just telling people they’re overreacting and saying opinions weren’t true, which doesn’t encourage much discussion. I agree with you regarding Sweet Melody and that attempting to recreate that type of song would be detrimental, but I also feel like because of the highs they’ve been hitting recently, this definitely feels like a big drop in quality. I meant more that people probably now expect a standard from them set by SM, not necessarily the same type of song.
  17. can we pls remember that people are allowed to have differing opinions on the song? if they’re capable of providing sweet melody, heartbreak anthem, break up song etc then it’s not unreasonable to expect a similar standard moving forward.
  18. Guys, I’m sorry but I’m absolutely not here for the ‘it would be racist against a white person if a black person presented a pop show’ conversation and whilst I try to respect everyone’s opinions, I’m really surprised that these type of statements (in addition to others) are still being made in 2021.
  19. Do you not see that there is some sort of lack of awareness on the BBC’s part for commissioning this with Cheryl at the fore front? Rather than you dismissing any point made I’m interested to know what your thoughts on the actual matter at hand are, rather than calling people keyboard warriors who are getting their knickers in a twist!
  20. Have you read my posts regarding the matter because I haven’t insinuated that Cheryl has said anything offensive? I’m talking about the decision to have her front the show in the first place which is also the basis of these people ‘making an issue out of nothing.’
  21. I’m not really sure how else to respond to this type of comment but I think it’s disappointing that statements like the above are thrown around so flippantly.
  22. I don’t think it’s that fine a line if I’m honest, nor is it an overly important one that we need to be careful of? Of course anyone can appreciate any type of music and talk public on it. The issue is that when it’s an organisation who have a responsibility to promote diversity and represent all types of cultures, then giving the platform to Cheryl is inappropriate - its I don’t agree with Cheryl being trolled, however there is a difference between her receiving hate and people questioning her reasons for accepting this job, I’m not on Twitter so I’m not sure what people are saying but the reactions I’ve seen on articles seem to be focussed on the fact she is presenting this and not on her as a character.

    This sounds TikTok ready!
  24. For what it’s worth, I absolutely agree. It feels like people are quick to blast it as trolling without looking into the actual issue.
