  1. Guys, I’m sorry but I’m absolutely not here for the ‘it would be racist against a white person if a black person presented a pop show’ conversation and whilst I try to respect everyone’s opinions, I’m really surprised that these type of statements (in addition to others) are still being made in 2021.
  2. Do you not see that there is some sort of lack of awareness on the BBC’s part for commissioning this with Cheryl at the fore front? Rather than you dismissing any point made I’m interested to know what your thoughts on the actual matter at hand are, rather than calling people keyboard warriors who are getting their knickers in a twist!
  3. Have you read my posts regarding the matter because I haven’t insinuated that Cheryl has said anything offensive? I’m talking about the decision to have her front the show in the first place which is also the basis of these people ‘making an issue out of nothing.’
  4. I’m not really sure how else to respond to this type of comment but I think it’s disappointing that statements like the above are thrown around so flippantly.
  5. I don’t think it’s that fine a line if I’m honest, nor is it an overly important one that we need to be careful of? Of course anyone can appreciate any type of music and talk public on it. The issue is that when it’s an organisation who have a responsibility to promote diversity and represent all types of cultures, then giving the platform to Cheryl is inappropriate - its I don’t agree with Cheryl being trolled, however there is a difference between her receiving hate and people questioning her reasons for accepting this job, I’m not on Twitter so I’m not sure what people are saying but the reactions I’ve seen on articles seem to be focussed on the fact she is presenting this and not on her as a character.

    This sounds TikTok ready!
  7. For what it’s worth, I absolutely agree. It feels like people are quick to blast it as trolling without looking into the actual issue.
  8. You’ve kind of answered the question yourself? As a company who are supposed to be committed to diversifying their output both in front of and behind the scenes, given that the genre itself stemmed from African American culture surely it would have been appropriate for the BBC to give the opportunity to present ‘‘a love letter to the genre’ to an under represented artist within that genre? On the face of it it looks harmless enough but I just don’t understand why someone felt Cheryl was the person to front this.
  9. I just don’t think you’re grasping the point at all though? Regardless of how it came about, whether an R&B podcast was created and given ( and accepted by) to Cheryl, or she herself came up with the idea, is it not still a bit disappointing that an already underrepresented demographic was sidelined? As someone mentioned, there are many UK R&B artists who could front this show, yet the fact that Cheryl was the choice to present this is just weird. In my opinion anyway.

This album is sublime, even the covers.
  15. These titles are sounding so… uninspired.

I just don’t understand why Millie and Liam were so popular? Prior to Casa Amor they literally barely said a sentence between them and once he cheated they had a few days worth of content before slipping into the background again. One of the least deserving winners ever I have to say.
  17. This is all stunning and I’m sorry to be this guy but it rly makes me wish Jesy could’ve seen it out to be involved in the release! Anyway, I can’t wait to hear some of the new songs, there’s so much to take in.

I just don’t understand how Faye can be surprised that the villa chose her and Teddy as the least compatible considering the way she treated him literally a week ago. Friends or not, surely that massive incident is going to cloud their judgement on the situation.
  19. I mean come onnnn. The energy people are exuding over Jesy leaving the band is alot.
  20. You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make her drink! I think it’s a bit of a sweeping statement to suggest that her entire team and friendship group are toxic for ‘allowing’ this behaviour. The onus is completely on Jesy and we’re not privy to conversations she’s had with her friends so it’s an odd statement to make. The label could intervene but who knows, maybe they’ve tried already?
  21. Did Jesy decide when to drop the Cosmo interview? Did she know Leigh was going to announce her pregnancy?
  22. Ugh I love her but the aesthetic is not something I’m here for at all. Given the amount of times she’s been told about it, it’s blatant disregard for an entire culture at this point.
  23. It seems like whatever Jesy does people are going to have an issue with it and relate it back to her time in LM which is pretty disappointing.

I’m a bit sad that the eliminations have changed, the lack of them was what kept me disconnected from the spin off! But I’m still excited for this to go ahead!

I’m so glad that this type of opinion is so few far and far between because Faye definitely didn’t have the right to continuously shout down and belittle Teddy in front of everyone, when not allowing him the opportunity to defend himself.
