Liam Fox today quit his post as Defence Secretary over his links to friend and self-styled adviser Adam Werritty.Dr Fox quit the Cabinet after a week of damaging revelations about their relationship. Despite pledging to remain in his post, Dr Fox today sent a letter to Prime Minister David Cameron announcing his resignation.In his letter to Mr Cameron Dr Fox said he had 'mistakenly allowed the distinction between my personal interest and my Government activities to become blurred'.Transport Secretary Philip Hammond is expected to be his replacement. A statement is expected imminently.This afternoon Mr Werritty was being questioned by Cabinet Secretary Sir Gus O'Donnell over the nature of his relationship with Dr Fox.
