  1. I like Elephant and prefer it to all her songs apart from All Night Long but ballads are always better for launching albums.
  2. I take it you have heard the ballad in full- :P
  3. What terrible news about Donna Summer, I did not know she was ill. Loved her Disco classics-I Feel Love, Hot Stuff, She Works Hard. RIP.
  4. Heartbreak on Hold should have been the first single but released last year and the ballad should have been out next ahead of the album it sounds immense.
  5. An xtra ballad would have been better but really liking Heartbreak on Hold, Fire, Oh la la and What Money cant Buy.
  6. CD Description from Amazon: Like all great pop music Heartbreak On Hold effortlessly wraps lyrical sadness in songs that make you want to dance. It's not by accident. “I'm that person who always wants to turn a negative into a positive because it's just the way I think,” explains Alexandra. From the frustrated stomp of first single "Elephant", a song written about a relationship that was slowly stalling and an immediate favourite of Alexandra's because it 'it just felt right', to the exuberant throw-your-cares-away dance rush of second single "Let It Go", Heartbreak On Hold is an album that acknowledges the hard times but offers a window of opportunity for people to forget about it all. “Yes it's upbeat and uptempo and I want to get you dancing but I want people to understand the deeper meaning behind the album.” While "Elephant" and "Let It Go" both slot nicely into the pop trend for dancefloor stompers, Heartbreak On Hold also displays Alexandra's love for 90s dance, specifically the emotional house music of Robin S or the soul-inflected dance of Soul II Soul, as heard most obviously on the heart-burstingly bittersweet title track. Featuring a vocal that almost erupts with emotion (“I tried everything to get over you, trying to make it through but nothing ever seems to work”) it's the kind of song that makes you want to dance while tears stream down your cheeks. Elsewhere the “very sexy” "Between The Sheets" and "Daylight Robbery" bear a stronger R&B influence, whilst the fluttering synths and four to the floor beat of "This Love Will Survive" marries Alexandra's survival extinct (“Sometimes if you really want something you've got to fight. It's telling the other person 'we will survive'”) to a beat that Alexandra rightfully says you'd have to be dead not to dance to. Then there's the ballad. Of course there's a ballad, that closes the album and features a lone piano and Alexandra's raw emotion speaking directly to the listener. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Heartbreak-Hold-Al...e/dp/B007T0MYEO
  7. Keep climbing D'banj, the Saturdays not managing No 1 again, what will it take.
  8. As far as I know it is. Why is Alex not singing more songs like this.

  10. This year has had the worst performances on BGT I have ever seen from the guests. Other than Labrinth. I doubt Simon would have Alex on and she has such a big mouth, she would have said something.
  11. All the Republicans need now if for Newt Gingrich, Donald Trump, Fred Thompson and Rush Limbaugh to voice their disgust about gay marriage as between them they have had 50 marriages.
  12. So Cowell can get slots for Labrinth and Rebecca with a broken leg on BGT yet he will not do the same for Alex. Thinking Alex really needs to sort her management out.
  13. Obama is smart, he may support Gay marriage but the reason he has spoken publicly about it is purely political. Obama needs the moderates and Independants to support him. Romney will now be forced to swing even further to the right which always ends badly for Republican candidates in elections. The Republican base will want social issues to be front and centre which is offputting to women, independents and ethnic voters.
  14. That is the song I really want to hear. Pleased that she has included an Emeli song. Rico Love also has one song and Wayne Wilkins produced the ballad.

  16. What a complete douche Cameron is and will always be.Tthe UK public are getting what they voted for a bunch of out of touch toffs who have no interest in anyone but themselves. His rudeness to Skinner shows his true colours that he is both immature and does not have much experience of being spoken to like that from people he considers inferior to him

Ruth has a strong voice but needs Yvie style training but she could have huge success. Her styling is terrible though not sure why she always looks 50. Hope Ruth, Joelle, Jaz and Tyler are safe.
  19. Skinner deserves a Knighthood. Hunt was a joke in Parliament trying to justify and excuse his actions. I hope he is sacked, he is a two faced liar and clearly was misleading the Commons and the public in pretending that he was impartial with this bid. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/jerem...-murochs-804687

Finally on VEVO. So glad Alex finally has a stylist.
  22. In evidence that went to the heart of the relationship between the media and the government, Mr Murdoch, the son of News Corporation chairman and chief executive Rupert, hinted that the culture secretary had passed on confidential information to the Murdochs regarding their proposed bid to take over BSkyB. Deputy Labour leader Harriet Harman called for Mr Hunt's resignation, saying his conduct had fallen 'woefully short' of that expected of a Cabinet minister. No 10 said the prime minister had full confidence in the culture secretary, however. Under questioning from lead inquiry counsel Robert Jay, Mr Murdoch Jnr - who resigned as executive chairman of News International in February and chairman of BSkyB earlier this month - claimed that a News Corporation lobbyist had been in touch with a special advisor to the culture secretary throughout the bid process. Is anyone in the least bit surprised about this mess. It was sickening to see even back then that Hunt, the little toad was in Murdochs back pocket sucking hard. Camerons full confidence in someone means nothing, I hope Hunt is gone before the week is out. Let Capital do what they need to do, it is a shame that they have become so petty. What with the One Direction issue, they miss the point that they are turning listeners off. I hope R1 playlist but we will have to wait and see. I love the video, Alex is looking great but the dance scene needed to be longer.

I have heard it twice on R1 since yesterday, I wonder if they will playlist Let it Go. Capital will not support it but I hope radio airplay is good. BBC Radio 1 ‏ @playingonBBCR1 ► Let It Go (Bimbo Jones Mix) by Alexandra Burke p ‏
