iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 22nd July 2016
1. Major Lazer - Cold Water (feat. Justin Bieber & MØ) - 1.0000 2. Jonas Blue - Perfect Strangers (feat. JP Cooper) - 0.5791 At this rate he'll get the number 1 on sales alone. Really impressive lead.

Looking more likely with Jonas Blue back to 59p its him that Major Lazer/Bieber are going to have to beat. Solid 330k streams for him today, only 100k behind One Dance now. The 59p effect is making him extend his lead over Drake. Looking in the region of 62k-65k for him next week possibly.

Top 5 would equate to 20k-25k stream sales, meaning he would require 35k-40k digital sales.

Bryan Adams record likely to be safe?

Britney and Katy Perry rose just as fast this, if you look at the timeline by 8:30am they also were in the mid 20s, neither went anywhere in the charts this week. Mind you Justin has a massive lead on the US iTunes, nearly double lead over #2.

Its still possible for Jonas Blue to get to no.1 next week if Major Lazer fails. Now getting over 300k on Spotify. Very possible for him to get 60k+ if his iTunes lead holds.

Depends on Drake's video which is about to come out. You'd assume another boost from that? Maybe towards 70k next week?

Spotify Chart Thread
Yeah I've noticed, we've got 6 songs above 300k?? The only two songs I normally see above 300k on a weekday are Drake's two songs. Any reason?

Well Drake's streams have rocketed again. Up at 464k which is very high for a weekday. It means by my calculation he'll get around 63k this week. But its not all down to his 59p effect, his streams have really picked up (for whatever reason). Jonas Blue holding steady though here on iTunes, his streams are up near 350k, should get around 60k himself next week if he can hold is iTunes lead.

Calum Scott has a combined lead now of 1.2848. It appears Jonas Blue has digital sales of approx 30,000 or so, if CS can get to 1.33 that be around 40,000, 1.5 would be 45,000 etc. So next week if Dancing on my own can hold and even increase its lead, it might have a real shot of getting 60k+. His streams Today were around 175k, he is increasing at the moment, so if he can bring those 200k next week, which is not much, he would be on target. He doesn't need huge increases here from what he has right now to get a really good sales total next week. He could really rival Drake himself next week if Bieber fails.

Wow Calum Scotts got a big (combined) lead on ITunes now, shame his stream numbers are terrible.

Well its all about Major Lazer and Bieber next week. If they can't get to number 1, then I don't think its a stretch to suggest that Drake will be number 1 for another 5-6 weeks yet. Given he's got the video to come. Surely they'll get the 55-60k required? Or does Justin do a Katy Perry and not bother putting in Spotify?

Well he hasn't stopped climbing yet, maybe he never does, the guys immortal.

At this rate Drake might surpass Jonas on iTunes, not sure when it will top out.

Its worth noting that even Drake's gone from 0.32 to 0.42, DLMD have also increased from 0.73 to 0.78 themeselves, so from their point of view the 59p effect has been negated somewhat so far.

Britney's the only one who can do it if she has streaming. She must be at what 0.7 of Jonas Blue on itunes now?

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 15th July 2016
Drake's streams are struggling to stay above 400k on weekdays now.

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 15th July 2016
I think Jonas Blue's more likely to get to number 1 than Chainsmokers, we'll see how the streaming fares this week, but Jonas Blue's stream numbers are beginning to rise quite rapidly.

Katy's at #11 still following her.

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 15th July 2016
Katy's now number 1 on US iTunes, has that been released in the UK yet? Assuming both of these get put on spotify? Does Drake have some competition?
-
iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 15th July 2016
Apparently Britney is already number 1 on the US iTunes, toppling her ex Justin.

We'll see what happens here, but streaming has been a huge part of why Drake has been at no.1 for so long and that's decreasing quite a bit at the moment. He'll be lucky to sell over 40k next week on streaming alone (has been 45-46k in previous weeks). Jonas Blue is/was gaining on him both on iTunes and on Spotify. If the assumption is that his download sales will increase and less people will listen to him on spotify, then perhaps the affect cancels each other out, andrather his sales just stabilise rather than significantly increase. *Clutching at straws I know*

Chainsmokers will be his closest rival until Cold Water comes out. They'll will pass Kungs on spotify shortly also.
-
iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 8th July 2016
Drake is beginning to drop quite a bit on Spotify, down 20,000 streams from this time last week. Meanwhile Jonas Blue is beginning to develop a big lead on ITunes and is beginning to make big strides with streaming. Kungs are also increasing on spotify, closing the gap on Drake. The thing about Kungs is they've only narrowly lost the number to 1 Drake each week. If Drake does continue to drop on spotify and Kungs can hold/increase they could pip him in either of the next two weeks. Kungs are dropping on ITunes but in relation to Drake, he's only 0.53 on them, little change.

Well Cold Water will need 55k-60k which is possible, if the target was closer to 100k, that might be a different question. We are at relatively low sales levels right now for a number 1, comparatively speaking for the past few years anyway. So its not like its an insurmountable task.
