  1. What chances do people give of Bieber's Cold Water getting to number 1 and surpassing Drake? Assuming he'll need 55-60k+ to do it? I'm not sure when its due out, rumour has it its meant to be 15th July anyway.
  2. 'Next month' so that could be tomorrow? Or August? Whats the chances of this getting to number 1?
  3. Why is One Dance increasing?? Its going to up above 0.5 at this rate!
  4. Does anyone think if failed to get number with Heroes this week he could do it next week still?
  5. Nah this boost will be big for a good few days yet, lots of press coverage still to come, his funeral etc. He's definitely a contender for the number 1 spot and he has a real chance. The Cascada scenario might play out again mind I rate his chances as pretty good. Is Bieber's record of 8 songs charting in the top 40 under threat?
  6. That would mean at 0.4-0.5 they're only drawing level now, plus they've got to make up the fact that they've lost the past 4 days. 3 days to go, but like I say these campaigners will know whats needed to win and will adjust accordingly. If its 0.4 they need from here on in, they'll do it, if its 0.3 they need or 0.1 or whatever it is they'll do what it takes. It will be interesting to if they keep this up but it looks like they've got the bit between their teeth now. For some people it is, I don't dispute some people are buying it out of interest/good will, but the fact that Bieber's the poster boy who to beat doesn't help.
  7. Fairly likely if the campaign is determined enough and knows what numbers it needs to get.
  8. It would be nice if people who bought NHS Choir are doing it because they like the song (or for charity reasons), instead of trying to cynically BLOCK somebody they don't like getting it. No doubt a lot of people are buying NHS Choir for good reasons, but its sudden surge isn't a lot to do with the fact its become a popular song all of a sudden, rather to stop Bieber getting it. Some people downloading 10 times and don't even bother to listen to the song even once. Wouldn't it be nice if we had a Christmas chart battle like that famous one in 1994 between Mariah Carey and East 17 when whoever won we could actually conclude and say that the winner was the more popular song of choice to listen to that week, rather than some cynical attempt to piss another artist and their fans off?
  9. The problem is that these campaigns often are successful. Simply because they have a determined group of followers, in that when the data is presented in front of them, they know what they have to do in order to win. They know Bieber's got to be pushed down to 0.4-0.5 (and probably more since they are making up for the previous 4 days deficit), this will be known to the NHS choir followers who subsequently will be spreading the message that the rate of downloads has to be increased, radio shows then pass on the message urging everyone “it needs more sales” etc. Bieber’s followers are at a disadvantage because they are downloading the song freely because they like it, not necessarily to get it to number 1. Its exactly how Rage of the Machine won against Joe McElderry. RATM followers knew the numbers likely required to beat the X factor and were downloading like mad until they got a required total that was likely to defeat him. If NHS Choir know that 0.3-0.4 for the rest of the week will win it for them, then that's what they'll target. Its just simple chart manipulation really.
  10. More like 0.6-0.7. Bieber's only at 0.6 now late in the day. NHS Choir needs an average of 0.4-0.5 for the entire week in order to win.
  11. NHS Choir has got to push Bieber combined to around 0.4-0.5, and that's only to finally draw level with him. So to make up with the fact that, even up till now, they are losing to him for a day or two at least, they'll have to push that down even further for the last couple of days. Doable, but this is certainly not a gimme beating Bieber.
  12. How much of a lead on iTunes would it need overall probably to beat Justin and overcome his streaming? Twice as much?
  13. I wonder if Candle In The Wind will break 5 million?
  14. Goyte will probably overtake her.
  15. But its absolutley nowhere near Thriller in worldwide sales. Adele's around 20 million, Thriller is near 70 million. This is the UK charts, which fair play to her is very successful, but I mean come on, maybe in the UK this statement could be true for most of the rest of the world its not.
  16. It would have done in bygone eras but sadly the album chart is so pathetically weak right now it probably take an age alright. 10th got 7.8k last week.
  17. Whats I gotta feeling doing back in the top 40? Was that on the voice as well? God it must be the most overplayed song this century I wish it would just go away.
  18. Is she likely to overtake Will Young shortly?
  19. Because 60s-90s music is still very popular. Some of the younger generation are keen to discover music from the past if they get bored of the current chart music.
  20. So Queen selling around 50k a year? Should pass 6 million by 2014 then??
  21. I don't think it was, back to bedlam, spirit and back to black have proven that modern albums can get clost to the top 10 at least. I mean Back to Black is only just over 2 million short of the record in itself, so it was never completely impossible. Recent music has often done better in the album chart than in the singles chart, I mean is anything recent EVER going to break Candle In The Wind's record????
  22. Incidently does anyone know how close Back to Bedlam is from entering the top 10?
  23. Not forever she wont. She possibly could make it I agree in time, like 5-10 years or more. But it's nowhere near the all time selling list of the world anyway, which is a bigger market (PHEW). Then of course, Queen members will die, leaving a trail of a new generation to discover their music boosting their sales haha (joking).
  24. Those other albums are still selling, Abba have sold nearly 400k in the best part of 2 years for example, so its not as clear cut as you think.
  25. The 'Dark Side Of The Moon' sold around 50 million worldwide. So we'll see if Adele can break that, there's more to the UK market remember. No shes not, Dire Straits span across decades, we'll see what she does with next album, and the one after that. In addition she's not as high on the worlds list. I don't think she's even CLOSE to the top 10 at the moment, or even top 20, or even top 30? Michael Jacksons Thriller will stand at number 1 probably for the remaining future, with sales of 60-70 million of whatever it is.
