'What About Us' (2nd Single Discussion Thread)
I don't get where the logic comes from behind comparing What About Us to Something New. Something New was specifically written for GA as their comeback single to reintroduce them to the market. They're two different groups, and The Sats have already got their 'Something New' equivilent... 'Get Ready Get Set'.

'What About Us' (2nd Single Discussion Thread)
Interesting that the writer said that the "original has less auto-tune"... unless they've gone back and changed in since. The vocals are exactly the same in the original as they are in the mixes. And they have not cut the 2nd verse in favour of Sean Paul's. In the version with him, Roch's middle 8 ("cos you've been watching me watching me") and Ness's pre-chorus is cut in place of Sean's. The rain storm is specially for my mix. That is my favorite moment. The build up through Roch's middle 8, and then boom... rain.... then in with Ness's "Whatever the weather". Thank you very much, glad you like it! :) Oh, and Lyrics: Oh why are we awaiting so long and suffocating? (Oh why are we awaiting so long and suffocating)? Boy it's now or never, time we got together, been a long time coming, now i need that loving, I love the way you tease me, so let's just make this easy, put me in control and we can switch roles, I'll take the lead, your so far behind me, you know what i need, i'm not gonna stop. Whatever the weather we gon' be better together so what's up baby what about us? Cus i've been watching and waiting why don't you give it or take it, so what's up baby what about us? What you doing to my head? (Na Na Na Na Na), You should be with me instead (Na Na Na Na Na), What about those words you said? (Na Na Na Na Na), What about us? (What about us?) Oh why are we awaiting so long and suffocating? (Oh why are we awaiting so long and suffocating)? I love to hear you whisper, take it take it lower, don't be afraid to show, what you freakin' do, Cus we can do it nightly, you get me excited, now it's my t-t-turn (Yes it's my turn), So give it to me, why are we waiting?, i know what you need, and i'm not gonna stop Whatever the weather we gon' be better together so what's up baby what about us? Cus i've been watching and waiting why don't you give it or take it, so what's up baby what about us? What you doing to my head? (Na Na Na Na Na), You should be with me instead (Na Na Na Na Na), What about those words you said? (Na Na Na Na Na), What about us? What about uh uh uh uh uh us, what about uh uh uh uh uh us, what about uh uh uh uh uh us, what about us, yeah. Cus you've been watching me, watching me yeah wherever i go, Cus your a criminal, criminal yeah deep down to the core, I know that you ain't seen, you ain't seen nothing like this before, And you know, like i know, you should be giving it up. Whatever the weather we gon' be better together so what's up baby what about us? (what about us?, yeah, oh) Cus i've been watching and waiting why don't you give it or take it, so what's up baby what about us? What you doing to my head? (Na Na Na Na Na), You should be with me instead (Na Na Na Na Na), What about those words you said? (Na Na Na Na Na), What about us? (What about us)? Let me take the lead (Na Na Na Na Na), You know what i need (Na Na Na Na Na), Put my mind at ease (Na Na Na Na Na), And tell me what about us? What about us.

Oh, no the vocals are the same. I was just speaking about the mood of the single version.

Oh deffinately, the Buzz Junkies and Seamus guys have way more experience and have been doing this a lot longer than I have.

'What About Us' (2nd Single Discussion Thread)
Glad you like my mix guys - I'm really pleased with the outcome! Course you can. The original studio version is a sexy moody pop track. Seems actually very dark when Rochelle comes in with "Whatcha doing to my head?". A moment where you wanna cry with frustration.. but then throw a load of glitter in the air. Personally, I'm not getting the whole "vocals are over-produced" thing. I feel the vocals are meant to feel sharp and pointy in places in contrast with some of the sexy lower tones the girls sing - Frankie and Mollie in particular. My mix stays true to the original the most I think. Well considering I completed the mix sometime in August, it's done well up to know for the package to be kept under wraps. However, the original version should be getting premiered in the next 4-6wks perhaps if they stick to the January release date.

The Saturdays in America
Not really. No one wants to read massive essays. Just goes to show that members of the forum would rather compare girl groups in such unnecessary detail rather than discuss The Saturdays (as this is a Saturdays forum) latest news in the US for example. It's not like there's nothing else to discuss.

Is it possible to live in a world with more than 1 girl group? Yes. Change the subject or i'll lock the thread.

'Ten - The Hits Tour' • Official Thread
Did they say they wouldn't do another Something Kinda Ooooh? Interesting. They're officially on Twitter too, @girlsaloud and there is a 9 day countdown at www.girlsaloud.com.

The Saturdays in America
What About Us is amazing. End of. Does it sound like something off On Your Radar? No. It's not light and fluffy. I've always felt that the material of On Your Radar felt really smooth and fluffy for some reason (not a bad thing). What About Us feels heavy and chunky (not a bad thing). Is it a good sequel to On Your Radar? Yes. People need to realise that The Saturdays are The Saturdays, they don't dance like PCD, and they wont churn out the more original pieces from the Girls Aloud back catalogue. They are your girls next door that sing and do a bit of dancing and have a laugh on stage. They're actually dare I say, possibly the girl group that actually has the most genuine relationships with each other over their career. That is supposed to be their appeal. Just beacuse they're not as 'elaborate' and loud as some other groups doesn't mean they're not as good. That may be boring for some people, but what ever floats your boat. AaSCT34hgWw&feature=plcp All Fired Up.. the atmosphere looked amazing.

Aha thanks for that. I'm pretty sure the US is going to get What About Us as well as the UK. + I'm pretty sure the tv deal is all legit.

Some interesting things the girls said there. I'm not sure how old the content for that article is though.

You can't really link The Sats 'hard work' with music outcome. It's the producers and writers who have the responsibility to the label(s) to make something decent and worth listening to. If the label stick a track on an LP that is pretty shit, it is them who do not care and it is them who are not working hard enough to make sure these girls are given worthy material. Also at the same time, I don't see why a non-fan of any artist would (for example) switch radio stations because they think "this track doesn't sound like they don't work much".

'What About Us' (2nd Single Discussion Thread)
All doom and gloom init... They work really hard. If they didn't care then they wouldn't have pitched the whole reality show would they. Le'ts remind ourselves that they weren't handed this opportunity on a plate.

Yes! A lot of hair whipping and flipping - the 2nd section after they come up from all the hair waving is VERY Britney

'What About Us' (2nd Single Discussion Thread)
I think it's more a case of this new choreographer doing his research (ie, seeing what stuff they've done in the past, seeing what looks good, what doesn't) then showcasing the girls what they've come up with. The worst thing that could of happened is that the routine for What About Us could have been a complete anti-Saturdays event. The choreo for What About Us stays true to them, but also gets them doing some rather slick moves. The choreo for Una's breakdown is awesome.

'What About Us' (2nd Single Discussion Thread)
Can't believe at how good their reception was for that gig! However, am I right in assuming a lot of their already-US fans were at the show? Hope you all got a little more from What About Us from the new video too. Was it just me or in that set was Vanessa's voice really deep?! I remember when it went like that a while back, it was a bit unusual. Although, she did deliver a rather good vocal, including "Closer baby look in my eyes do you recognise me" actually came out alot clearer. People slate her for falsetto "blow my mind" in All Fired Up in her middle 8, but I still think it's rather fitting when she does it live (as it's not in the studio recording). It churns momentum for Una's "keep me on your radar". If she were to burst out in belting mode for that, she'd have to continue doing something during that final chorus pre-Una else it would be such an anti-climax. Just watching from those 3 performances, you have 3 great songs there. But, when I think back about the performance there is a blurryness that makes me want to bleed all 3 tracks together - the choreography. You can tell the difference between Notorious and All Fired with What About Us that there is an improvement with some more slick moves. But it's the group formation sections (see, Notorious - Frankie's middle 8, What About Us - the chorus in general, All Fired Up - pretty much the first minute of the track). Although it may look pretty and clever there is way too much of it. They still put on a really great set though, shame it wasn't a little longer.

Sounds nothing like it lol! It's in the completely wrong key, 'sounds' nothing like it, and there are no guitars lol.

Hahahaha, 'official'. That is awful. Sounds NOTHING like it.

'What About Us' (2nd Single Discussion Thread)
Well obviously I don't want to spoil anything, but I suppose I can answer things within reason now that they've performed the track and it is 'out there' for people to watch/listen to. It's meant to be very moody and sexy, which is why the girls are singing in a lower tone I assume, which comes off too much on that live recording - but the studio version is nice and padded so it really sounds quite dark yet bright and airy. Mollie's verse is just lush.
-
'What About Us' (2nd Single Discussion Thread)
It is such a BIG track. Catchy as hell - 3 really catchy hooks. Shame you couldn't hear Mollie's verse more, she sounds super. And the choreo... AWESOME.

'What About Us' (2nd Single Discussion Thread)
That is pretty LQ, BUT the HQ version is amazing. They've cut a bit out there as well after Una's "what about us us uh uh uh us".

'What About Us' (2nd Single Discussion Thread)
Whoever said they're working in the US for content for the tv show - correct. The girls are back in the UK in November. That's when I assume they'll premier it on radio and release in worlwide in January (unless you might be at Perez H's 1 Nighter...). I imagine then they'll go back to the US after their UK promo to start the camapign in the US.

'What About Us' (2nd Single Discussion Thread)
I don't see why they'd have a problem getting airplay with What About Us. It is very Capital friendly.
