You are right you can spin it many ways. I would think those extra two million votes would have came from the voting lines being open an extra 24 hours every week. You could also say Olly was the least popular runner up ever having never been in the top 3 votes on any night and having once bottom once and as a result inflating Joes votes. Either way I still maintain this year is the worst for talent EVER and it is most likely Simons desire to get a male winner by disregrading females who were actually good [TreyC and Nicole] in favour of the awful Danyl and Jamie. Most likely I can imagine lots of people will go there.

I think Lady Gagas sales do the talking so I won't comment on that any further. Check out forums and you will see that everyone hated the live auditions, once again the fans do regard this as one of the worst years talent wise the only thing that kept it going were the guests on a Sunday. And what you are saying is YOUR OPINION also. The bottom line is Joe is nowhere near as popular a winner as Alexandra. If Olly and Joe this time next year have sold the around 3 million records JLS and Alexandra have then you win.

Why are you dragging up Lady Gaga into this? Ratings does not mean a show is popular. Big Brother 4 was one of the highest rated Big Brothers yet is regarded as the worst series of Big Brother. This year is widely regarded as the worst series of X Factor by the media, fans and just general overall feeling. One of the main reasons the viewing figures have been so high is due to the superior guests this year. The conestants however are the least popular since X Factor 1 which was just a new show.

X Factor didn't have a Sunday show last year. There is more chance of higher average ratings on a Sunday when no one is out.

So what? Last years final was on a Saturday, most people go out on a Saturday night. The audience would have been the same last year if the final was on a Sunday. It cannot be denied last year was more popular.

Sony and Simon are two different things he won't benefit at all. Simon runs Syco which is an umbrella brand of Sony. It is like saying the manager of Topshop is going to benefit from a spike in sales at Burtons.

Particularly deaf this year. It is funny how this song would have been regarded as crap by the X Factor judges when Miley sang it yet last night it was one of their favourite songs ever. Give me a break.

All artists are influenced by someone else, but she uses this influence to create her own style. Arguing that the X Factor winners are more original than Lady Gaga is just plain wrong.

It will end sometime soon people are just beginning to get really sick of it. What particularly bothered me this year was the constant coverage of Jedward. On the news more specifically, how exactly is Jedward a news item. Then the media building them up to be popular when infact it was revealed yesterday that they never once received more than 10% of the vote in any show. The show is a complete fix also. I have heard from various sources who know someone that went to one of the judges houses and were specifically told 'A woman is not going to win this year it is all about the men, come back next year'. We don't pick the winner, the winner is selected beforehand and the judges drive that selection to the public with their comments, and the public are stupid enough to fall for it. Joe was a no mark until week 7, Simon begins to give him praise and he then wins every vote. As much as everyone slags off Americans at least they are not as stupid as us when it comes to this. Simon has no control over the American media and they pick their own winner. A single is then released and it never performs well, they have to prove themselves on the album, it should be like that here.

They have raised alot for the Shelter charity so far and RATM are going to donate all their profits from the song to the charity aswell. Of course Sony won't do the same.

Wow you people predicting 600-700k are WAY off the mark. He is not even that far ahead on iTunes against RATM and I can't see them doing more than 100k. The physical sales for the X Factor single were crap so this may not be much different. Oh and Woolies isn't closing this year so I don't know where these extra sales are going to come from. *Runs off to buy Poker Face again so it will still be YTD number one*

I have just woke up in the thought that the British public would finally see sense and would have not bought that f***ing awful Joe 'Jaws' McElderry song but I guess I was wrong. Hopefully RATM will begin to plummet now it has no hope of number 1 and not ruin the Christmas chart any further. A Lady Gaga Christmas number one would have been amazing instead we get a f***ing awful Disney cover.

I think Cheryl and Alexandra were number one at this point but they won't have had the physical sales.
