  1. Question remains!
  2. Sorry but what on earth is the Mandela sanitary towel about?!
  3. Way off topic, but - it's not like that at all. You can buy as many songs as you want, you can only vote for one political party. And, in fact, Vidcapper is not even arguing that Thatcher shouldn't have won, but only making the point that it doesn't necessarily mean she was popular with most people. As, indeed, a song getting to number 1 doesn't mean that it's popular with most people...
  4. @keefdid - only different versions by the same artist.
  5. I can't see anything in the official chart rules about politics or causing offence. I think it's the tabloid press, as others have said, making things up as usual. http://c0903002.cdn.cloudfiles.rackspacecl...-april-2013.pdf

"Some people suggested it might just be on Amazon it's out-selling them by that margin" Interestingly Nirvana are number 2 on Amazon.

Donating *any* amount of money, no matter how small, to a charity is not insulting. Not unless you're waving notes in their face and laughing, then it would be.

Great to see Radiohead in the top 100 now :D That is without any sales from yesterday, too, so could still climb higher - top 40 even?

    166. The Daily Mail - Radiohead oh, ignore that, I was looking at livehits, where it just dropped massively, sorry.

They are 2 and 4 on the main Amazon chart - not showing in Movers and Shakers because they already had a chart presence there yesterday.

Don't forget the other retailers make a much bigger impact on the official chart than normal, this time of year, with all the campaigns and very different buying patterns and so on. Top 15 movers and shakers on Amazon right now are: 1. Military Wives - Wherever You Are 2. Stacey Solomon - Driving Home for Christmas 3. Stacey Solomon - Driving Home for Christmas (Alternative Version) 4. Jamie Hartman - Happy New Year 5. Alex Day - Forever Yours (Vocal Remix) 6. The Cast of The Only Way is Essex - Last Christmas 7. Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit 8. Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit (Boombox Rehearsals) 9. Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit 10. Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit (Album Version) 11. Alex Day - Forever Yours 12. The Pretenders - Don't Get Me Wrong (2009 Remastered) 13. Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit 14. Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit 15. Kelly Clarkson - Because of You
  13. Cage Against the Machine is going to rocket today.

I understood that you could buy up to three copies - that the OCC allows for fans buying a couple of extra copies in hope of helping a track chart, but that beyond a few is thought unreasonable.
  15. My guess is in that in the time-honoured tradition of indie underachievement it'll land at 41... (I've bought it)

    Oven Gloves 72 now 66

In other words, it's absolutely nothing like saying that. I think you're trying to have your cake and eat it, there. Please be careful with such comparisons, I realise you didn't mean it like this but I did take offence initially at the suggestion that my saying I liked some aspects of the new OCC site was a bit like defending Hitler! Mikey - surely the point of the Asian chart is that some people are interested in it? Why do we care if we're not, we don't have to look at it?!

*Apart* from the rest of the top 100 going - which is obviously a big backwards step - I think it's a vast improvement.

The Save 6music protest single Joy Division Oven Gloves is #103 on iTunes but up to #2 on Amazon

There was a big glitch. Joy Division Oven Gloves went 319 -> 765 -> 293... I think it was reporting figures from the early hours of this morning.

Joy Division Oven Gloves just appeared at 415 from nowhere. edit: now 355. Go 6music listeners! edit 12:13pm: 319

Next weeks' Facebook campaigns for old songs, since I know you love them all so much. Campaign for Ultravox - Vienna to get to number 1 - because it was kept off the number 1 spot by Joe Dolce first time around. They were supposed to be doing this *this* week, but they put it back because of the Delirious? one. I can't even find the group now, maybe they've given up completely? There's a group with about 1,300 members in but I'm sure there was a much bigger one previously. Campaign for Joe Dolce - Shaddap You Face to get to number 1 - just to stop Vienna for a second time! Also about 1,300 members so plainly not going to do anything and I only mention it because I think it's funny : p HOWEVER: Campaign for Half Man Half Biscuit - Joy Division Oven Gloves to get to number 6, in protest at proposed closure of 6music. The group only has 4,000 members but the main Save 6 Music group has over 170,000 members and is quite motivated and active, I think this could chart.

Curiously, the Christian music Facebook group has decided to stop downloading and start praying! http://www.invadetheairwaves.org.uk/Blog-P...om-for-god.html

The Times reported 'tens of thousands' of extra sales weren't counted, Jon Morter said on the Rage board that it was alleged to be almost the same as the number that were counted. I'm not sure who alleged that though.
