Diana Vickers- Once
Has anyone read their Fortean Times this week? The Illuminati conspiracy theorists are going to love those lyrics and the big butterfly wing design she's got on her back! Hmm anyway I think it's going to be pretty big. Top 10.

Chart eligibility for downloads
Hello guys I'm afraid I've set up one of those Facebook chart campaign things that are bothering some of you so much. I'm guessing some of you will think this is interesting, some of you will think it irritating, and that nearly all of you will tell me it's doomed to epic failure. This is it: http://tinyurl.com/stormthecharts But, I'm concerned about something I really hope some of you might be able to advise me on. I've been assuming that if a track was purchaseable from, say, iTunes, that any sales would automatically count towards the chart (if they were in sufficient numbers, obviously). However I have just received an email from an artist asking if I am including albums too (I'm not) because he has an album for sale there and "the distribution deal included chart registration". So three questions really - - Does this mean that "chart registration" will also need to have been undertaken separately for every track we choose? Or if a track sells lots there, does it automatically count for the chart? - If chart registration is a separate thing, does anyone know how *likely* it is that a given track from an artist on a tiny label or who's submitted the track themselves has been chart registered? ie should I expect to see loads on there that aren't already chart-registered? - If a track *isn't* already chart-registered, how easy or difficult is it to do that, once a track is already purchaseable there? edit: Doing a bit of internet research I've established people need to be registered with the ppl repertoire database, formerly catco. So I've established that much. Any more advice anyone can offer much appreciated. Apologies in the event of success to anyone who absolutely hates my project anyway.

Predict (Again): Girls Aloud - Untouchable Campaign
I just can't see why anyone who wasn't a seriously hardcore Girls Aloud fan would care about their top 10 run; and surely all those hardcore fans bought in the first release anyway... so... fail. For top 10. I wouldn't be particularly surprised if it did chart again. Voted 'top 40', was wavering toward 'top 75'. And anyway, chart campaigns to get a single back in the charts are boring. Here's mine: http://www.tinyurl.com/stormthecharts

what is usually the lowest week for single sales...
I'll take that! : )

what is usually the lowest week for single sales...
Ah - that's really helpful, thanks so much! What I really want is the sales figures for the whole top 40 though. Like how many for number 1, how many for 2, etc. Hell, as far down as they're recorded would be good to know. And I mean the week beginning end of May so first chart of June really. Thanks in advance! Or no worries if it's a hassle : )

Are the sales figures archived somewhere on the forum? On a similar note I'd like to know the top 40 sales figures for (end of) May last year : )

iTunes Chart: January 2010
3oh!3 have nearly taken Florence. Below the top 25 or so it seems quite volatile, which I guess suggests low sales?

iTunes Chart: January 2010
Missed that at first glance.

iTunes Chart: January 2010
The Times reported that the OCC discounted tens of thousands of multiple-purchase downloads, so the actual number downloaded was much higher than 500,000. Jon says it was 'alleged' (I don't know by whom) to be 'well over a million'.

iTunes Chart: January 2010
It *definitely* has *no* chance unless they set a date on it. But I think you'd have to be quite a big Girls Aloud fan in the first place to care about their top 10 run!! How are they going to make anyone else care? Edit: they have set a date now.

'Humanity' can mean that too.

iTunes Chart: January 2010
These Facebook campaigns - some are fun, some aren't, some will work, some won't. I'm surprised so many of you guys are set against them. But I would say that, I guess, it was one of those that led me here : p

They should rename 'The Climb' as ''The Drop'.

iTunes Chart: January 2010
Depends if Florence is extending her lead over the others on the pop bars or not, she *was* going up fast herself! The higher she makes it on this week's officials the more it'll help her too.

The Almost Saturday Charts w/k ending 8th Jan 2010
The weirdest thing is about 50,000 people joined the Rage facebook group *after* it got to Christmas number 1... it only just stopped growing yesterday

iTunes Chart: January 2010
I can't believe Candi Staton's original of YGTL isn't getting any sort of boost at all from this. Maybe next week, assuming Florence actually charts top 10??
-
iTunes Chart: January 2010
No way, now that it's up there Florence is going to get the number 1 next week. (edit: is my guess...)

iTunes Chart: January 2010
It's like this: the campaign can't have harmed any, but it mysteriously started to have a lot more success straight after the same song that it was championing got a lot of high-profile TV appearances and radio plays...
-
iTunes Chart: January 2010
Surely Candi Staton's original is going to get a boost from this too though?

Joe looks like he might have a big drop coming now... I'm out this evening, will be interested to see if he's still anywhere near 12 when I get back!
