Interesting - I don't by any means like everything that's coming up, but I really like both these albums! 'Songs for the Deaf' is one of my favourites. I have to admit I don't know 'Deloused in the Crematorium' too well at all though. As far as the other one goes, specifically the beginning and end of 'A Grand Don't Come For Free' is my favourite Streets stuff, not necessarily the singles, and all the live performances I've seen on tv have been really disappointing. More in the morning.

One thing about all the dashes - some lists are much longer than others. Word only published a top 10 whereas Uncut listed 150. So even with consensus around the top albums, there inevitably are lots that only featured in one list. The bottom 40 or so here are all ones that Uncut listed outside of their top 100, and no-one else listed either. But others that Uncut had in that region were picked up by the other lists too, so appear far higher, including...

Personally I think X-factor covers can be good and bad like any other cover. Leona's 'Run' is a good example of a track that had a lot to it for anyone who wasn't blinkered by her being a talent show winner - but the difference between Florence's 'You've Got The Love' and Joe McElderry's 'The Climb' is the personality for me, it's just got a kick to it. And I don't fully agree that it's really so indistinguishable from Candi Staton's, which is why quite a few people are bleching at its rise! I'm odd with Florence, can I think she's wonderful one day and terrible the next, the same performance seems to sound different at different times. Her voice can really grate but if it gets you at the right time it really works.

She sang a cover of 'My Baby Just Cares For Me'. While she was singing it, I was thinking, she should release this, and in the meantime people will be looking for more of her stuff.

I'm interested in the skepticism... a lot of people thought the RATM campaign wasn't going to go anywhere either, even when they had over a hundred thousand members. The Avenged Sevenfold thing isn't for me but it's clearly got momentum - the Sex Pistols one is I think a really good idea. I've got a bigger idea though ^_^

The Avenged Sevenfold one is indeed growing quite fast right now too though - more than one a minute - if that's more than just temporary there could well be a rash of these things.
