iTunes Chart: December IV
The Postal Service? That is definitely not true. 98%, 99% maybe... but definitely not 99.9%. But then, you're on a music forum, that's a specific crowd, probably much higher rates of recognition around here. Anyway I think the point people are trying to make is you might like them, if you like Owl City, which is certainly true. http://www.last.fm/music/The+Postal+Servic...ights?autostart While I have the opportunity to pimp a friend, too, Josh Doyle [ex-DumDums] is always getting Postal Service comparisons - some of their fans will no doubt think somewhat kindly - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDc7baTOLOM

Those 2 Gaga bars combined are definitely a smidgen bigger than Joe's now.

'Best' albums of the year
Totally fair enough. Btw: voting closes end of New Years Day. If anyone changes their mind between now and then you can come back and edit your posts because I won't do the final count-up til then. I'm trusting people not to edit their posts just to affect the outcome :P

iTunes Chart: December IV
It still would be a bit of a blow to miss out on number 1 in the downloads chart again, though. Especially *without* anyone campaigning for it. I realise they won't make much of it, though.

I think Rage is going to plummet out of the top 20 by Sunday.

I thought he was but missed out cos of Band Aid 20? [remembers he is on a chart expert forum and decides to check..] Oop, no, you're right - but he surely *would* have missed out because of Band Aid 20 anyway, he couldn't take them for the New Year chart. No shame there really.

iTunes Chart: December IV
Yeah I agree Wordshaker - I was actually surprised it didn't drop sooner. The group was still really active up to today but if you check it now there are minutes between wall posts rather than seconds. Think that's all the excitement over. I do think it will drop like a stone, everyone knows the point was made.

So.... it's looking very possible Joe could miss out on number 1 in the download chart for a second week running, no?

The **Irish** iTunes Chart [NOV-OCT 2010]
Hmm!! Are the Ragers buying Lady Gaga just to spite Joe? :P
-
iTunes Chart: December IV
But that means that RATM were selling more than Joe on Sunday and Monday. A lot of confused Ragers thinking it would still count for chart, maybe.
-
iTunes Chart: December IV
Doesn't the fact that RATM are still ahead suggest it has to be a *weekly* rolling chart?

Magazine 'best of year' lists 2009
It is an astonishing album though, if it was English language I think it would have been even higher. Uncut made it their 'Album of the Year' in a separate thing (quite why that's only enough to get to 5 on their end-of-year list is beyond me) Yep, that's Q for you...

Buzzjack's Reshuffle Chart #27
+5 :: Rage Against The Machine - Killing In The Name +4 :: Cheryl Cole - 3 Words [i like this far more than I expected to, the video is fantastic] +3 :: 30H!3; Katy Perry - Starstrukk +2 :: Lady GaGa - Bad Romance +1 :: Peter Kay's Animated Allstars - The Official BBC Children In Need Medley -1 :: Rihanna - Russian Roulette -2 :: Black Eyed Peas - Meet Me Halfway -3 :: Robbie Williams - You Know Me -4 :: Joe McElderry - The Climb -5 :: Journey - Don't Stop Believing The top 4 I actually like to some extent - Peter Kay's thing was fun but the novelty's worn off - Rihanna, BEPs and Robbie were hard to choose between for different levels of extreme boringness - Joe's song is actively bad, Journey's is actively even worse.

iTunes Chart: December IV
Presumably it's safe to assume that anything halfway or more to Rage now is going to overtake them? Be weird if the Journey track was higher than KITN in next weeks chart - certainly looks possible though.

Magazine 'best of year' lists 2009
I find with Florence that I think she's fantastic one day, and then a few days later I'll hear the same song, same performance, and think it's awful -- or vice versa. I must admit I haven't heard the album though, just the singles and some lives. I'll post the rest of the combined list up tonight or later this week -- there'll be one for the decade too but I'm waiting for Mojo to publish, I assume they're going to do one of those in their next issue.

Pop Flops Of 2009
Okay here's one - not from this year but relevant because it's prominently sampled in (and provides the title of) 'Whatcha Say' which is currently charting - Imogen Heap - Hide and Seek http://www.last.fm/music/Imogen+Heap/_/Hide+and+Seek I don't know if it charted anywhere in the UK but it certainly wasn't top 40.

Was that the girl who got to judge's houses on X-factor this year? I remember her as being great, but I'm not sure if my memory might be being swayed a lot by the fact that she was really beautiful...

Tony - I may be mistaken, but I think it's nothing more than a corruption of 'lol's. As in laughs, obviously.

Pop Flops Of 2009
For me with Little Boots I think she was really strangely marketed. In her early pictures and interviews she came across like a quirky nu-folk kind of songstrel, I thought she seemed really interesting and in fact like my kind of artist, but the songs are actually *really* pop - I can imagine the kinds of people who might otherwise like her music actually being put off by the image - and certainly I really liked the image (quite apart from the fact she's awfully pretty), but the songs do nothing at all for me. Shame, I really wanted to like her.
