  1. According to Pitchfork, "Good Ass Job" is no longer the title, and there's a new single coming, either "Lost In The World" or "All Of The Lights". The Yorke / Reznor inspired lyrics sound very interesting too. Maybe Power is now just a hype single, albeit a fantastic one? Can't wait for this album, so excited for it, his previous 4 have all been masterpieces.
  2. I can't find this anywhere :(. If it is better than Part 1, then I'm massively looking forward to it though!
  3. Don't mind The Catalyst actually, new album could be interesting. Hybrid Theory was one of the first albums I ever bought, so they'll always be somewhat special to me!
  4. My thoughts EXACTLY. Nothing on Closer.
  5. Possibly the best album since Late Registration? Certainly since Tha Carter III
  6. So disappointed in this, hope its not the beginning of a decline for the main band. On The Lam is OK, the rest is all just a bit meh.
  7. Love it already, especially Sprawl II, We Used To Wait and The Suburbs. Obviously no Funeral, but I think some people are being a bit unfair on Neon Bible. It wasn't THAT bad, it was just never going to be as good as its predecessor. Strings, as always, are amazing from Mr Pallett
  8. I hope Mumford & Sons don't win. For me, their really overrated and remind me too much of a (bad) Fleet Foxes. Its not even that I don't like them, I enjoy the singles, but the album is a bit samey. Dizzee is a surprise, its easily his worst (most commercial) album, even if it is still better than 90% of the rap genre at the moment. Paul Weller is a surprise too, but other than that, they do seem to be playing it rather safe. The xx / Marling for the win, please.
  9. Funeral by Arcade Fire never really clicked for me until about a year after having it, similarly with Purple Rain. Again, I never fully got EMG when I first bought it either, since my first experience with the Manics was Holy Bible (which in itself was a grower), but now love it.

Isn't Coldplay's next album supposed to be their last? I think I read somewhere they would release it this year then retire. If so, that could be enough to beat it? Most likely not though. Otherwise I (sadly) don't see that record being broken anytime soon. Oh, actually maybe a Take That / Robbie reunion album? The 2 TT albums since their comeback have had huge one week sales, maybe the reunion would be enough to push it over the 700k mark.

Agree with a lot of people saying Muse, Bloc Party, Killers, Amy Winehouse etc. I'd also say Radiohead definitely deserve a #1, and possibly Vampire Weekend in the future. And you never know, one year The Pogues might finally get there too.

Dire top 2, if Florence could somehow climb it would be fantastic. Though I'm surprised by its sudden popularity. Similarly in the albums, could they finally get the #1 MJ denied her in the summer? :o
  13. I think they might have just started counting with an accompanying physical available, but physicals were still the majority market share.
  14. Interesting that the highest first week sales was for the only one given an ORIGINAL song (and it only got released on the Wednesday)...
