  1. This is exactly the same period for me! I really started getting into music in 1989 and I used to listen to the Top 40 every Sunday religiously. I also recorded Top Of The Pops and The Chart Show every week over this time and still even have some of the videos! I blame SAW for getting me hooked on the charts, as I was the ultimate fan! :D
  2. How many of these singles were actually released in 2011? The list just serves to show that the rock genre hasn't been producing much in the way of hits lately, even with the very loose classification. We need some decent rock music. I am not the biggest fan of the genre, but when it's done well it can be amazing! :D
  3. The album version has two verses, so it's not quite as chorus laden. Everyone loves a good key change though! :D
  4. Yes, the early 90s had a load of groups who mixed elements of pop with rap, though generally the rapper was part of the group, (2 Unlimited, Culture Beat, Cappella, Maxx to name a few). It was probably after this point that solo artists, such as Mariah and J Lo thought it would help them, so recruited more 'serious' rappers. This allowed them to use whoever they wanted to feature on their songs, while still able to revert to solo stuff if they pleased. Nowadays of course, it's just common practice to rope in a rapper. :D
  5. I think that the problem is the timing of Beyonce getting into the top 10. As it's the weekend, there are a lot of other songs gaining momentum from the weekend effect, so her top 10 effect isn't really as strong. I love the song so much, so I will be gutted if it drops out so soon after getting in.
  6. I have to say, I check out the Cover Voting thread almost every week and it never ceases to amaze me how amazingly talented the people on here are! I am honestly in awe of you all! Good job guys! :D
  7. So many songs here that I love! 15- The KLF feat. Tammy Wynette - Justified & Ancient [#4, 1991]   12- Spice Girls - 2 Become 1 [#1, 1996]   Those are two of my favourite songs ever!! 10- Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You [#2, 1994] 8- Spice Girls - Goodbye [#1, 1998] 6- Boyzone - Father And Son [#3, 1995] 5- Mr Blobby - Mr Blobby [#1, 1993] (Sorry...it's just such a fun song!) 4- Spice Girls - Too Much [#1, 1997] 3- Michael Jackson - Earth Song [#1, 1995] 2- Madonna - Don't Cry For Me Argentina [#3, 1996] 1- Michael Jackson - Heal The World [#2, 1992] That was difficult. I could happily have given points to another dozen or so songs. Not going to give any negative points, since I have every song on my ipod, so it would just seem silly to do so! :D :D :D
  8. My 01-07-21 drop looks like some sort of JLS chart run... :D

I love all the songs left! Found it really hard to vote for one, but as long as my favourite is still there I am happy! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D P.S. Loving the Santa hats!!!

Can't believe how lucky I've been! My Christmas album predictions have fallen badly, largely due to Kate Bush, so this more than makes up for it! :D

Also, did Justin Bieber not appear on last week's X Factor singing 'Mistletoe'? Or was that the week before? :D

Also, did the Pogues' 2005 entry of 'Fairytale Of New York' make the top 3?

I am pretty sure that Band Aid re-released 'Do They Know It's Christmas' in 1985 and it got to number 3, unless I am just confused.
  16. I have a feeling Kate Bush has messed things up for me....if only I had actually had the intelligence to realise that the album was a Christmas one. (You would think the title might have been a giveaway!) Think I am about 30 out with that one alone, while the rest of my predictions don't seem too bad. :D

  19. I am gobsmacked...just totally flabbergasted. :o I have absolutely no doubt that it will be a one off fluke and my predictions will be abysmal in the remaining weeks!
  20. That makes sense now. I was thinking that Cher, One Direction and others had been number one, but did it without appearances on the X Factor of their respective songs. :D
  21. They haven't released anything else this year though?
  22. It hasn't dropped more than 6 places on any individual week so far. Based on that, it should stick about next week. :D
  23. I saw this album and thought it looked great, but then I realised that I was sad enough to have most of them...The ones in bold are the ones I already have...please don't judge too harshly. :D (Rushes off to download the other 4 tracks.)

  25. I think it was All 4 One with 'I Swear' in 1994. It got stuck at number 2 for 7 weeks behind Wet Wet Wet.
