No song goes top ten by that tactics though and in the end people don't remember much beyond that

In general I am actually all for big acts releasing new songs early in the year and keeping the YE charts in mind. Because these days it's impossible to release in November and reach top ten on YE (unless it's something very exceptional).

Rockabye entered the chart on 03.11.2016, spent 10 weeks on the chart (7-3-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1), placed No. 37 on the YEC.

Anywhere entered the chart on 02.11.2016, spent 10 weeks on the chart (20-11-5-2-2-2-3-5-5-8), placed 101+ on the YEC?!

 

You DO see the difference with those positions yourself don't you?

 

Anywhere's weekly sales haven't been astounding, that and 10 weeks in just weren't enough.

So you're saying that record companies don't already have an influence what gets playlisted? There are people whose work is to have meetings with radio bosses to make sure their songs get airplay.

I get the impression there's going to be 4 singles from the album and each music video is going to form an overall story - that was just my interpretation.

 

So the era is basically over after Super Bowl... Or maybe the fifth song will become hit later in the spring.

 

When I play Filthy (tried 4 times now) I forget it's on after 2.5 minutes

 

 

True, I haven't revisited that album since the year it came out. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

 

The NERD album was a disaster so not putting my money on Pharrell this time around, maybe Timbo will deliver.

How can you say that Filthy is not good but trigger bang is good.
