Ed has a great ear for a melody, however he has not been sued for plagiarism several times without a reason. My biggest issue with him is the awful lyricism though. I wouldn't even dare to release those as my own but I guess that's kind of part of his charm. Once you go over the line, it becomes your trademark and people are starting to embrace it I guess? Also, the most popular pop music has never been "deep" - I mean Pitbull of all people was a big star for a few years and is now having a revival. I think Ed's next album will be very successful because the trends have turned again and the "easy listening and hummable" pop is coming back a bit. All he needs is another ear worm with cringey lyrics and that's his bread and butter.

It was already defeated by Playboi Carti for a couple of days and only a matter of time when a truly big song arrives. It's been a massive run regardless.

It's because the chart is a rollin 24-hour chart. Frontloaded tracks get plenty of streams on Friday morning but then show down remarkably. Twilight Zone might have been the most played track on AM for couple of hours but only 15th most popular at this point which means it might not climb further and stabilize instead.
