i think ARTPOP really knocked her confidence, certainly publicly. i think that was the last time she was less serious and down right strange... thankfully the music then reflected that. Chromatica always seemed to contradict as she made this faceless dance music and yet was quite distant and serious.

I Believe In You felt like such a big song at the time but it feels like in later years, it's not as popular unlike something like 'All The Lovers' (which i've never liked) has always maintained it's popularity,

Well both HYGD and Anywhere U Go have a regular chord progression and structure that eventually lead to a final big chorus, like most pop songs (see ...Baby One More Time).

ROM is such a brilliant pop song. There's so much to it. I think my fave part might be the bridge after Ariana's verse where it's like call and response. It's actually pop perfection. I know were not there yet but i also really rate the performance.
