Energy costs set to increase by 54%
The rise will cripple many families even with the measures outlined today. It is scandalous that energy companies like Shell who have announced record profits today will be giving their shareholders a rise when many families will have to make a choice between food or heating. This clearly requires further government intervention but the Tories seem too preoccupied with other issues like Brexit and dismissing partygate allegations.

The Tory lies and deceit thread
I was not expecting the council tax rebate but having to pay back the energy discount won’t help many families and it’s extremely unsatisfactory when companies like Shell are allowed to continue raking in massive profits which they pass onto their shareholders at a time when many consumers will struggle to make ends meet.

The Tory lies and deceit thread
Shell have just announced their highest quarterly profits in 8 years while many consumers are facing a massive price hike in energy prices in April. The government is expected to announce some measures to soften the blow such as £200 discount to all bills and other incentives for low income families. However, it is believed the discount being considered is a loan to energy companies which will have to be paid back by consumers at some point in the future when hopefully bills fall but there is no guarantee energy bills will decline in the future. Surely, a lot more needs to be done to address the issue when energy companies are allowed to make massive profits lat a time when many consumers are facing dire choices of whether to eat or have their heating on.

Johnson is just trying to deflect with the Saville thing. He has no credible response to all the partygate allegations but any decent human being would have resigned by now. The only thing he is sorry about is being caught out. There are also quite a few parallels between him and Trump. On a slightly different subject, I wonder how all the partygate stuff is being viewed internationally by other countries.

To be honest, it’s probably better Johnson stays as much as I despise him. I think the longer he remains, the more damage will be done and I don’t believe for a minute things will change in his party when you have a complete moron in charge.

I wonder whether Johnson will face a leadership contest now. The report while edited is very damaging but despite all this, Johnston still hasn’t taken any responsibility and is trying to worm his way out of it. If this happened in any other profession like nursing, social work or even the police, there would be serious repercussions including facing a disciplinary panel so it’s unbelievable he is trying to cling on to being PM.

Well they haven’t confirmed it yet but it’s political suicide if they go ahead with it given the cost of living crisis. Virtually everyone was against the rise on Question Time last night.

Well it’s interesting the government have blocked a report showing research into whether sanctions are an effective way to get people into work. I think the answer is pretty obvious that the policy will backfire and is likely to just put unnecessary stress on claimants and the government clearly doesn’t want to listen because they don’t care.

The Tory lies and deceit thread
Media are reporting that some Tory ministers are saying there will be a general election if Johnson is ousted. Personally, that might be a good thing given the general publics emotions are quite raw right now over the partygate scandals and concerns about cost of living crisis. However, I can’t see them going through with it as they must know they are going to lose a lot of seats and it could well be much worse than the situation when Teresa May called a snap election and the Tories lost their majority.

Cameron was another awful Tory PM. He came from a wealthy background and was completely out of touch with the issues in the general public.

Lol. She is just vile but none of the other choices are great neither. They are all completely out of touch with the real world.

Hillary 2024?
I can’t see Hillary running again. She lost to trump and that was a big embarrassment and not expected. However, Trump on the other hand may well run again as he appears to have a big following and could even be successful if the democrates popularity doesn’t improve by the election time.

The UK and homophobia
Well, that’s shocking. I don’t think homophonies has ever gone away properly. In Liverpool last year, there were a number of vicious homophobic related assaults on gay men in the city centre area

I don’t understand all the negativity about this album. It’s a pretty good album. Takes a few listens but I like it :-)

The Tory lies and deceit thread
Johnson was on the TV tonight and when asked about the birthday bash, he completely dismissed it by changing the subject but that smirk he seems to have was there. His conduct is shocking and disgraceful - more so that he has no shame or sense of responsibility for his actions.
-
How long will Boris last as PM?
I’m not surprised Johnson’s approval ratings are so low. Him and his governments behaviour and whole attitude is appalling, deceitful and shocking for any democratic society and significantly undermines trust in politicians in general.

Years & Years - Night Call
I bought the album today. I like what I’ve heard so far. Some good pop songs, nothing really ground breaking though.
