Who should be the next PM
If you take away peoples rights through the unions, then nothing will get done. That’s the whole purpose of unions to stand up for peoples rights. Just allowing people to get around the table to reach an agreement would never work. In the current economic climate when we have inflation at nearly 10% and many things such as the cost of energy rising much faster, people should be entitled to a reasonable pay increase. Don’t forget, many public sector workers have had their pay capped for years under austerity measures from this government. That is effectively a real pay cut. Is that really fair when companies like shell and Centrica are announcing record profits? Just goes to show who this government is really serving!

Energy costs set to increase by 54%
It’s looking horrific and not just a tough winter if those predictions are correct. But how can it be right or fair that many people will either be faced with a dire choice of heating your home, eating and/or crippling debt when companies like Shell & British Gas Centrica are making record profits from the price rises. There is something seriously wrong in this country and further proof that this Tory government is failing us abysmally. I would urge everyone to sign up to the campaign (link below) refusing to pay energy bills from 1st October unless the price is dropped. We need to take urgent string collective action as citizens as this government is clearly going to do nothing to help us. https://dontpay.uk/ https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/she...ion-2022-07-28/

Steps - 'Hard 2 Forget'
Agreed, hard 2 forget is quite inferior to most of their recent output.

I’m also looking forward to hearing the follow up. Space man was a great tune and reminds me of something Freddie Mercury would have done!

Who should be the next PM
Well latest UKGov poll among Tory members puts Truss ahead at 62% to 38% for Sunak. Looks like Truss is going to win and I wouldn’t have predicted that at the start of the race when she was third. Neither of the two finalists are good choices. Both are completely out of touch with the general public. Sunak is a millionaire and is very smarmy, lacking in empathy. Truss is cold, ruthless and lacks any real credibility. If she is elected, I predict like her two predecessors she won’t last more than a few years at best.

Who should be the next PM
Well I suspect Truss and Sunak will be in the final two and the worst two candidates in my view given they were both part of the incompetent Johnson administration. However, hopefully this will mean electoral disaster at the next GE for the Tories.

Irrelevant 14.07.22
Not a great song and don’t like the swearing in the lyrics.

Who should be the next PM
It’s interesting when politicians make these kind of statements because many teachers will say things have got progressively worse under the Tories from problems recruiting staff to significant cuts in funding and the impact of the social care system being overwhelmed.

I like this a lot!

Who should be the next PM
I’m watching the leadership debate. Sunak sounded like a broken record and Truss was just not credible at all. Badenoch while coming across as likeable was just not convincing enough and lacked substance. Penny Mordant looked like a leader in waiting apart from her comment on the Brexit dividend but the real surprise was Tom Tugenhat who reasonated well with me.

Who should be the next PM
Truss has no charisma. More like an ice-maiden.

Who should be the next PM
I doubt the Tories will be elected with any majority next time. It’s more likely to be a hung parliament. The only reason they got a big majority last time was due to Brexit.

Who should be the next PM
Not seeing anything credible to address the cost of living crisis among the remaining contenders. All of them appear focused on reducing taxes at the expense of decimating the state which is only likely to add fuel to inflation and make matters worse.

Locomotion ● 35 years on
Not my favourite Kylie tune at all. The abbey road version is best. The other versions are just a bit cheesy.

Who should be the next PM
Well I hope whoever gets in was not part of Johnson’s incompetent cabinet. I suspect it will go down to either Sunak or Mordaunt, both of whom concern me for different reasons. I’d prefer Hunt out of all of them but think it’s unlikely he will make the T2. It would be a disaster if Liz Truss makes it. She is vile and has no proper social skills.

Who should be the next PM
Liz Truss would be one of the worst for me.

Who should be the next PM
Nadim Zahawi has said he will force all departments to slash spending by 20% to finance tax cuts. The problem is many departments like health and social care are already struggling and barely able to provide a service to meet statutory need so this will only add to the mounting pressures. I am really worried about who will be elected. Hunt seems to be talking the most sense but I fear we will end up with someone like Sunak or Truss who will do nothing to help the lives of ordinary people and just make matters worse.

Who should be the next PM
I don’t think any of the contenders are great but Liz Truss is vile.

The Official Labour Foot-Shoot Thread, Mk II
I thought Starmer would be cleared by Durham Police. The whole issue seems to have been blown up by the Tories and Daily Mail as a distraction to the Tories problems and it’s failed miserably.

Who should be the next PM
I honestly don’t know who will be next Tory PM. I think it’s wide open at the moment but I hope it’s not anyone who has served under Johnson. Sunak, Truss and Javid are all responsible to some degree for the shameful and incompetency of the Johnson government. I would rather we have a general election and either a labour minority government or labour led coalition. I don’t think Keir Starmer is the strongest of leaders but at least he has integrity and people need to give him and labour a chance. The Tories have been in power for over 12 years now and during that time they have ruthlessly slashed local authority funding resulting in significant cuts to public services. There has been a big increase in homelessness and many families are having to rely on food banks due to poverty. Brexit is a complete mess and is far from being done and has caused significant division in this country. It could yet lead to sanctions and a trade war with the EU if the legislation to override the NI protocol is passed. The Tories shambolic handling of the pandemic, inadequate response to the cost of living crisis and various scandals has shown they cannot be trusted and we need a change of government more than ever.

How long will Boris last as PM?
The media have their own agenda and play a pivotal role in influencing the general public’s views in politics. Look at the situation with Jeremy Corbyn. He was never given a chance!

The Tory lies and deceit thread
Sunak has announced he is standing to be Tory leader to restore trust etc but how on earth can he do that when he played such a pivotal role in the Johnson government?

Love at First Sight ● 20 years on
I don’t like it as much as I used to. I find it a bit cheesy and think she has done better songs to be honest. It’s my least favourite single from the fever era.

1st decon album - reissue
About 5-10 years ago, there was talk of a new reissued version of the first Deconstruction album with new coin tent. However, this seemed to go down the pan. Does anybody know why it was shelved and have any information on what they were looking at including on this release? Also, do you think we will ever get another reissue of this album?
