The guitar riff that opens "Get it On" and runs through the track is one of the most instantly recognisable, and uplifting pieces of rock music in the history of pop!

Like it or not, it's going to become a million seller in January, if not by New Year. I guess 700K+ first week

What was the worst No.1 ever?
Sorry to mention it then. But the nation had to be reminded, lest the passage of the years had reduced the impact of this aural abomination upon the people's musical soul....

What was the worst No.1 ever?
Surely I can't be the only person on the planet who literally has to get up and switch off the radio whenever Chris De Burgh starts to warble about his "Lady in Red"?

Which chart albums have you 'avoided' due to first single?
I'm with Slowdown on this one. I was put off buying Duffy's Endlessly because the lead single Well, Well, Well just didn't do anything for me. In the end I did buy the album and I'm glad I did, because it is really very, very good. Even Well, Well, Well grew on me eventually

The 'second era'
Duffy is a good example of second era flop. "Endlessly" virtually vanished without trace - quite astonsihing when you consider the massive success of "Rockferry." I blame the almost non-existent marketing, but most of all the choice of " Well Well Well" as the lead single - probably the weakest track on the album and not at all representative of the album's quality. I actually prefer "Endlessly" to its more successful predecessor - it's really very good indeed.
