  1. I didn't "get" it either. However, when my neice made her first holy communion in 2000, my sister had the party back at her house. Now 43 pretty much was the soundtrack for the entire afternoon and this, Daphne & Celeste and Lolly was loved by everyone there...under the age of 8. So the reason why this did so well is because children liked it. :( On a much happier note, 'The Sign'. Another slice of Eurotastic pop from Ace Of Base.
  2. I thought that when I hosted and there were so many good songs in both semi finals. However, this edition is also jam packed with good stuff or maybe I'm just in a really good mood and everything is sounding brilliant. :D I didn't expect so many dance tracks to be entered but gosh it's gonna be too tough to whittle SF2 down. :drama:
  3. Cheers Dan :D 01 (--) Postiljonen - Supreme (01) [1 wk] This was a fab winner. I am loving the indie-dance crossovers that are being sent into BJSC at the moment! It really is fab. When the indie-dance crossovers are of this quality, I'm more than happy to see them win. It does make me wonder what are the chances of the next BJSC winner being Swedish? :D 04 (03) Alex Hepburn - Under (03-04) [2 wks] I wasn't a fan of this :( But your new entry makes up for it! I do like to show the different sides of Batidas. The dance entries are typically me whilst I also like to enter tracks I've discovered through European charts into BJSC as well although the latter have provided me with less luck in the last year. I do hope 'Zombies In Love' can do well, it's left to be seen. 12 (--) Ben Pearce - What I Might Do (12) [1 wk] This was a hit for me a while back, I loved it for about a week, but it is very repetitive and tired on me quickly It is repetitive, can't deny that. However, I really like how the production on the track builds throughout the song. Can't remember if you voted in Unknown Pleasures but this was my entry so was always going to chart here off the back of UP. 25 (--) Fuse ODG feat. Wyclef Jean - Antenna (25) [1 wk] I prefer it without Wyclef :P I've only heard this when the video is shown on the music channels so it's mainly the Wyclef Jean version I'm hearing. It's one of those songs I really shouldn't like but I do. 40 (--) Bastille - Laura Palmer (40) [1 wk] Bastille are probably my favourite ~indie~ band right now, this is an lesser version of Pompeii but very good anyway. Would've liked it to have been a hit in the UK :( Mind you, if the UK charts have proved anything in the last 12 months it's that songs can bubble under the top 40 on iTunes for ages before suddenly climbing up and heading for the top 20 at least. As you know, I'm not a big fan of Bastille. It's not like I dislike their music, I just don't think it's as amazing as others make it out to be. :( Each to their own.
  4. Hi Dan :D Dancetastic as usual. Wouldn't have it any other way. 01 Daft Punk feat. Pharrell Williams "Get Lucky" (01-01-01-03-02-01-01-01) (8 weeks) Incredible, also got 6 weeks at #1 in my chart too. Defining hit of 2013 Pt 1... 02 Robin Thicke feat. T.I. & Pharrell Williams "Blurred Lines" (36-x-16-02-02) (4 weeks) ...whilst this is Pt 2. I'm really surprised at just how massive this is. I had a feeling it'd be big but as in 150k first week sales then start to decrease week on week. Not 190k first week then increase sales to almost 200k. :o It does make me wonder if this will beat Daft Punk to become the UK's biggest selling single of 2013. Something I really didn't think was going to be at all likely until I saw the sales figures. 03 Fuse ODG "Antenna" (05-14-06-02-04-03) (6 weeks) You probably wouldn't tell looking at my chart (it's new at #25) but I do like this. Granted, it's grown on me and I doubt it'll shift downwards too much. Might even climb although there's another batch of BJSC hits due to enter this weekend so woh knows. 14 Icona Pop feat. Charli XCX "I Love It" (30-20-48-x-07-04-14-14) (7 weeks) I think they should release a new version called 'I Loved It'. :P Nah, I still really want this to smash but I'm more doubting with each passing week and each new contender for #1 that arrives. :( 16 Duke Dumont feat. A*M*E "Need U (100%)" (19-12-01-04-06-08-15-17-16-18-16-16) (13 weeks) Wow, it's holding up brilliantly for you. Was also #1 in my chart but it's on the verge of dropping out of my chart now but it's had a decent run. 24 Olly Murs "Dear Darlin" (23-24) (2 weeks) Another grower, wasn't quite sure on this at first but I'm starting to like it more, the more I hear it. Just stalled 33-34 in my chart but could well climb to a new peak in my next chart. 29 Loreen Harris "I Love It (I Don't Care)" Well, why not? :D 32 Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Wanz "Thrift Shop" (35-26-01-03-12-12-14-42-26-28-27-28-38-31-33-23-37-29-27-14-10-16-27-40-29-42-29-32) (28 weeks) Gosh!!! I was over this song ages ago. It's still a brilliant track but after 'Can't Hold Us' started getting more airplay, my attention soon transferred over to that track. 36 Stone & Van Linden "Summerbreeze" (21-26-x-36) (3 weeks) I actually discovered this last year but at the time felt it wasn't probably the best choice to represent Batidas. I'll never know so judging by the poor form I had towards the end of last year, this might well have changed things for me had I gone with this. Will be interesting to see how well this fares, I really didn't think there would be quite so many dance tracks entered - or at least that seems to be the case judging from SF2 but after having a quick snippit session (played a bit of each video to see what was in store) I actually liked most of the songs there so listening in full will help sort out an order I'll be happy with. 41 Leah McFall "I Will Survive" I actually might chart this, I was a bit unsure whether to or not but seeing as it's going to be top 20 again (at least) this Sunday I might as well. Still think it'll be fully if Leah doesn't end up winning and someone whose track has barely done anything wins. It'll be LeAnn Mitchell all over again. 43 Sebastian Ingrosso & Tommy Trash feat. John Martin "Reload" (46-x-35-28-24-x-24-43) (6 weeks) Ok, I was (sort of) wrong. I didn't think much of this when I first heard the song. Now that I've seen the video, the song works much better with the visual elements included. Still don't think it's on par with 'Don't You Worry Child' but it's better than I'd originally thought. 46 Manufactured Superstars "Zombies In Love" (17-46) (2 weeks) Aww!!! I'll admit I saw this enter at #17 last week and was a little excited but didn't want to make a big deal out of it (basically make it obvious what my BJSC song was to everyone). Shame it's fallen so much but at least it got a decent peak here. I'd love for this to qualify but it's difficult to tell how this is going to go as the semi again seems rather wonderful. ^_^ 49 Michael Woods "Platinum Chains" (09-01-01-02-07-14-03-10-19-33-47-x-49) (12 weeks) You must've been gutted when this did well considering you were the first person (I think) to chart this. It's such an anthem though and like I've posted elsewhere, I'm actually really proud of how my edit turned out. It should be made the official radio edit. :D
  5. In a way it's a shame 'Take On Me' missed out on #1 whilst 'TSASOTV' benefitted from being released off the back of a massive UK hit, and also being released in the dry patch for new releases better known as January. That said, it stills sounds solid with the big drums and synths. A-Ha were ahead of their time, it's one of those songs that wouldn't have been out of place in 2009.
  6. Cheers Rich :D Hey Hits, I'm always really impressed at just how much BJSC and UP dominate your chart, they barely make a mark in mine, certainly rarely in the upper reaches. 17 out of your top 20 were BJSC or UP entries, incredible :o Take out all of those songs and your top three would be Robin Thicke at #1, Daft Punk at #2 and 2 Chainz at #3 (). Ohh, that's Switzerland's top 3 singles last week. So I will take that as some form of compliment. :P BJSC and UP dominate my chart because there are the songs I listen to the most, aside from when I have one of the music channels on when I'm having breakfast, or snacking in the evening. 01 (--) Postiljonen - Supreme (01) [1 wk] Lovely winner, my favourite Skall entry for quite some time It is my absolute fave Skall entry too beating AlunaGeorge 'You Know You Like It' which peaked at #8 for me. It's so sublime and uplifting despite being a midtempo song, it's pure brilliance. Can't really explain why I like it so much, I just do. 02 (02) Robin Thicke feat. T.I. feat. Pharrell - Blurred Lines (02-02) [2 wks] Definitely one of the most infectious songs of recent times but even so, 200k near enough for two weeks in a row, astonishing :o I guess it has crossover appeal but even I was surprised to find it on the Radio 2 playlist! Probably a bit tough on 'Blurred Lines' as they narrowly missed out on #1 last week but then they got the boost after the excellent Graham Norton performance which boosting the song for me ahead of Daft Punk...but Postiljonen overtook them instantly. 09 (07) Michael Woods - Platinum Chains (09-05-05-07-09) [5 wks] Impressed with how well this held up for you :D It's such a brilliant track, I have to give myself credit for that Rontvian Club Edit I made. Sounds abslolutely awesome when I play it on my iMac. 14 (--) London Grammar - Wasting My Young Years (14) [1 wk] This has only just clicked with me actually, I should have given it some points in BJSC This stood out straight away in BJSC. SF2 in the last contest really was where most of the best songs were. 36 (--) Kodaline - Love Like This (36) [1 wk] I don't 'get' them really, High Hopes was nice enough in a 'could be covered by an X Factor winner as their debut single' sort of way but everything else has been dull for me Hmm, I can't imagine 'High Hopes' being an X Factor winner's single, but then if someone told me 'Many Of Horror' would be an X Factor winner's single when Biffy Clyro released that song, I would've laughed and said "yeah right". :D
  7. Cheers Liam :D 14 Heard this on Radio 1 a couple of time this week, will be one I'll be charting soon as I quite like it! 'Wasting My Younger Years' is such a lovely track and I like the Moloko-esque disco feel to the track too. I do have a soft spot for these type of songs with haunting vocals. Definitely stands out amongst other songs in the chart right now. Would love to see this become a hit but I sadly have my doubts. :( 40 Shame this looks like it will miss out on the official Top 40, but then again, I've barely heard it on Radio 1 (despite it, I think, being A-listed) and I haven't seen a video, so not too surprising. I'm hoping next single 'Things We Lost in the Fire' can do well. I've really not come round to Bastille even though there are many Buzzjackers who think they're amazing. With the amount of hype I read on here, I was expecting them to be brilliant but 'Pompeii' didn't live up to expectations but I did like it enough to chart top 20. This new track is ok but again nothing brilliant, just merely ok for me - enough to just scrape into my top 40 at least. :P I even previewed all their album tracks after someone made the suggestion a while back. These were the only two songs that stood out. :(
  8. 'Freestyler' was massive across Europe. Probably the biggest hit across Europe for the whole of 2000 I'd reckon. No surprise that Bomfunk MC's are pretty much one hit wonders. Back then, we still had the old Sky TV channels including many German channels. VIVA (Germany's answer to MTV) played most of their other tracks too but then again Bomfunk MC's seemed to be fairly popular there.
  9. It's like comparing mouldy cheese to sour milk imo. :P
  10. Jason Derulo must love the UK as he seems to be more popular in the UK (why, I haven't a clue) than any other country in the world. Yes, his songs have gone top 10 in Australia but we're talking UK #1 here. 'In My Head' and 'Don't Wanna Go Home' were such duff tracks and this new song is no better.
  11. At 2am this morning whilst the whole of Batidas were sleeping, Skall opened the semi final voting stage of BJSC LV. Batidas have drawn 5th in SF2 which brings us to introducing our act. Representing Batidas are Manufactured Superstars with their track 'Zombies In Love' but who are Manufactured Superstars? :o Never one to shy away from a slice of dance music, this stood out as a big contender to represent Batidas as soon as we discovered the track. Got 79p to spare? :D You can download 'Zombies In Love' from iTunes HERE (that's right, a Batidas entry that is actually available on iTunes!!! \o/ ) Love a bit of Lego? Hey, who doesn't. :P Check out their fabulous music video below. y-dcuuEnLhU
  12. Cheers Martin :D 01 (--) Postiljonen - Supreme (01) [1 wk] oooh didn't see this coming, great #1, missed out on a winner here :P [/iblameharve] I did. :P 'Supreme' really lives up to its song title for me. Absolutely adored this track from the very first time I discovered it. Harve got the track fair and square, I just never realised that Postijonen were on other people's list of contenders. Skall deserving their rightful place at #1 here, as I've posted elsewhere this is my fave BJSC winner since Woodkid. 02 (02) Robin Thicke feat. T.I. feat. Pharrell - Blurred Lines (02-02) [2 wks] I'm a bit fickle over this, its only just recently the track has been a little bit waning on me ;) :heehee: Right now, I'd say I'm loving this track more than any other time over the last 2 months. It was one of those songs I was unsure of at first, it didn't grab me instantly but I didn't hate it either. It's just with more UK airplay, I've found myself enjoying the track more and more. It's tongue n' cheek, playful, doesn't take itself seriously and has been the perfect soundtrack for the glorious weather we had last week. 19 (13) Icona Pop feat. Charli XCX - I Love It (01-01-02-02-03-05-06-08-14-12-17-21-21-26-28-32-21-16-16-13-19) [21 wks] I'm over this as well now, had a good chance of dropping the track today with a dull week for new releases. I still really want 'I Love It' to be a monster hit but I just feel like the record company keep missing a trick at every given opportunity. The song has been used in those mobile TV commercials for a few weeks and if they're aiming for a #1 hit then they really have underestimated a lot of hits right now, and in the coming weeks. Icona Pop might easily sell over 100k in its first week but I'm now convinced that John Newman will beat them to #1 then Katy B ensure they're not even #2 the following week whilst John Newman's sales I reckon will hold up much better. In short, they should've released this months ago and let it be one of those songs that keep selling over a long period of time.
  13. That's what has made BJSC so far this year all the more interesting. I actually liked the fact that when I hosted BJSC LIII, the top 3 all got personal bests. Then some pesky country finished 4th and...oh!!! :P
  14. FSR Rontvia have had incredible success in BJSC and continue to do so. I think GD is the only poster who can enter a risky track and still qualify, even if it's just 2012 esque levels of borderline qualication. Your faves could NEVA!!!
  15. Can you reply to my PM I sent about 10 minutes ago pls thnx. :D
  16. There's always a show off. :(
  17. Only just noticed this. I've opened the thread as there's no reason why it was closed in the first place so maybe it was done in error?
  18. 01 (x2) xx xx 04 (x2) xx 06 07 (x3) 08 09 xx Just need 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 10th to complete the set.
  19. It'll be a :D moment for the UK charts if 'Blurred Lines' has the ability to prevent 'Walks Like Rihanna' from topping the UK chart. That would give Robin Thicke a four week run at #1 (equalling Daft Punk) which would be brilliant. Both songs have had the massive sales to back up its longevity so it's all good imo. :D Extraordinary to think that 'Blurred Lines' will have already sold half a million copies by the end of this week. :o
  20. So, should we all just download Venus Palmero as a protest purchase? :D Venus for #1 on iTunes
  21. :D As weird as it sounds, I'll always remember the reaction on ChC Media when Radio 1 announced Robyn & Kleerup were no. 1
  22. Never done this before so hi Hate Chart. :D 15 pts = Psy Gentleman 12 pts = One Direction One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks) 10 pts = David Guetta Feat. Ne-Yo & Akon Play Hard 08 pts = will.i.am Feat. Justin Bieber #thatPOWER 06 pts = Jennifer Lopez Feat. Pitbull Live It Up 05 pts = Union J Carry You 04 pts = Stylo G Soundbwoy 03 pts = Nelly Hey Porsche 02 pts = Taylor Swift 22 01 pts = Jessie J Feat. Dizzee Rascal & Big Sean Wild -5 Robin Thicke 'Blurred Lines' -2 Daft Punk 'Get Lucky'
  23. When was the last time the BuzzChart top 3 consisted of only male artists? Would this be the first time such a feat has happened? :o
  24. Cheers Liam :D Will get round to replying properly to your comments tomorrow but I'm guessing you've not heard 'Supreme' by Postiljonen? If not, check out this slice of sublime Swedish pop right here. m25Nsa-fvms
  25. I was just thinking that myself after listening to 'Life Is A Flower'. YouTube'd the rewritten version and it isn't anywhere near as good as 'LIAF'. Anyways, this thread continues to be brilliant, so many brilliant songs. :D Also never realised there was a Swedish connection with Shapeshifters. Always thought they were a UK based dance act. The only song that I can't stand is 'All I Ever Wanted' by Basshunter. One of the worst dance hits of 2008 imo.
