    Poor Moa :( I didn't want to do it. I had 18 new/re-entries this week and decided 17 of the songs to chop fairly swiftly. It took me ages to find an 18th but I then realised that it was in fact my 51st favourite song of the week and had to leave. Still, only three BJSC entries (not including my own) are actually in my chart at all this week so don't despair!

    That's why I have a format to compiling my chart. If I just charted anything even after just 1 listen of a new single I doubt I'd ever compile a chart as I'd never be completely happy with the order. :(

    What an interesting entry. :o Has this charted purely from my comment during the week about how 'Turn Loose The Mermaids' reminds me of 'Nocturne'? :D Back in 1995, I didn't follow Eurovision at all. I remember 'Love City Groove' but that was more from following the UK charts rather than Eurovision. I only discovered 'Nocturne' about 5 years ago after it was mentioned on ChC.

    Lots of tracks here I like to some degree or another. :D

    Asking because it's one of those covers where I struggle to see how people can prefer it to the original. Obviously it's not Duran Duran covering "911 Is A Joke" bad, but it's hardly an imaginative cover.

     

    She's a 15 year old British girl. Obviously the UK are going to prefer Birdy's cover. Even if it's just because of the "aww, isn't she sweet" OAP opinion. :P

     

    Personally I don't get what's so special about Birdy. There are plenty of young girls in the UK who are very talented, can sing and play piano but they don't have recording contracts. Birdy must have "something special" like a relative working in the music industry. A famous phrase being "it's not what you know, it's who you know". Either that or her parents are very wealthy.

    Like I posted in Tom's chart, I'm quite surprised that this hasn't really taken off. I think perhaps the missed oppotunity came from buying the track off the album which you had to Pre-Order. I reckon they would've got more sales from releasing the single download worldwide. At least that way the track would've have been temporarily removed from iTunes meaning it lost all momentum from being as high as #18 to suddenly being re-added and appearing at something like #74. No wonder it's only gone as high as #22 so far. Could this be the first Madonna lead single to miss the UK top 10 altogether? :o

    Well, you already know about Feeder and their #40 glass ceiling in my chart for hit singles. Still think if they released another 'Just A Day' or 'Buck Rogers' full on anthemic rock track they could easily be back in the higher region of my chart.

    I actually was already aware of this song before you entered this into BJSC when it appeared on the release schedule. I checked out the song but wasn't really that impressed. :( Better than 'Bear Hug'? Hell yeah!!! :lol: Just compared to most of the other track in our semi final, this didn't quite strike a chord with me. :(

    I'm really disappointed in this. :( I'm sure it'll be a hit anyways but there's just something about this track that completely misses the mark for me. I mean I wasn't overly keen on 'Collide' by Leona yet I still think that track is better than this. :drama: The remix that Radio 1 premiered is much better than the single version imo.

    Ohh, didn't realise this had been high up your chart. Rock music is just not popular in the UK and it does make me wonder if that will ever change. 'Lonely Boy' was brought to my attention after it went high up on Australia's iTunes (it's no. 2 in their charts this week :D ) and the video is simple yet effective (a middle age man dancing to the song - genius!!! :lol: )

    I'm absolutely delighted to see this finally #1 on UK iTunes and perhaps it may just become the official no. 1 on Sunday. It never gets boring for me now. Funny though everyone listens to this for the first time and doesn't quite "get" the song, then the more you hear it, the more you like it before you eventually love it. :wub:

    If someone did a poll 2 weeks ago asking "Name a David Guetta UK #1", how many people would name 'Gettin' Over You'? :P This is the reason 'Titanium' just had to be no. 1 in the UK. It's so much more popular and far more worthy of UK #1 status than 'GOY' ever deserved. So that's why I'm thrilled that despite being the 5th (or is it 6th?) single released from the ablum, this has managed to climb its way to #1.

     

    03 XX MADONNA Feat. Nicki MINAJ & MIA Give Me All Your Luvin' (4wks: 31-20-49-xx(10wks)-3) HIGHEST RE-ENTRY

     

    Not quite a 'Hung Up' moment is it? I rememeber when that song leaked everybody was raving over the song, but that was genuinely deserved hype. Even I found myself quickly succomb to the aceness of 'Hung Up'. It seems odd that '4 Minutes' spent 4 weeks at no. 1 at a much more slower sales climate for the charts - it probably sold in 4 weeks at no. 1 what 'Hung Up' sold in its first week. :lol: (I haven't checked :P ) That said, I would've expected the fact Madonna was releasing a new single would have generated quite a lot of buzz but I'm surprised that even with the music video, this just hasn't taken off at all in the UK. Whether it does go top 10 at some point is left to be seen.

In total, I had 16 tracks that I liked enough to award points to but sadly six had to get the chop. :(

    I'm just ecstatic at the prospect of the UK supporting a track that has been huge in so many other countries. I doubted whether Gotye's track would ever take off but it would be incredible to see 'STIUTK' #1 this Sunday.

     

    I bought Gotye's track on iTunes a couple of weeks back (the week it climbed 36-21) and didn't really expect it to go much higher after that - especially when it seemed to stall between 13-20 for ages. :lol:

    As much as I adore 'Video Games', I think 'Born To Die' has just about eclipsed the track with my affections. Also buying the album last week gave the tracks a boost - 'BTD' at #1 for a fifth week, and 'Video Games' climbing slightly to #30. If I had an album chart, it's pretty obvious what my #1 album would be. Would probably be my #1 album for a few months well. :D

     

    06 (--) Michel Teló - Ai Se Eu Ti Pego! (06) [1 wk] Really don't get the love for this :( And I have no idea why it's being tipped as a potential UK hit too. It's far too folky and twee to do well here, it's only because it's had huge success in Europe that the links are being made.

     

    For me, this is a pure novelty which at the moment I think is brilliant when taken in the contxt of a fun song that isn't meant to be taken seriously. For me, this is up there with the likes of 'Hey Baby' by DJ Otzi, 'Mambo No 5' by Lou Bega and 'Blue (da ba dee)' by Eiffel 65. The UK version, as I mentioned earlier in this thread, has managed to remove everything that makes this version so great (imo) and has turned the song into an English language novelty fail. :lol:

    Like with 'Titanium' it's purely down to me avoiding overplaying the songs. Sure I still play them but you can start to get too much of a good thing. I always tend to listen to newer music more purely because it's just that; new. Songs that I've been listening to for near 6 months will always decrease in airplay over time. I'd say 'STIUTK' and 'Titanium' are doing incredibly well to this high after nearly 6 months on the chart.

    This will change. Some weeks I have relatively static weeks to allow songs to generate decent points towards my YTD chart - especially if it's tracks I really like. Then I will have weeks where my entire top 5 could consist of new entries, and then those tracks stick around for a while. My chart uses its own format and it'll always be like this.

    Well I'm absolutely delighted to see Gotye at #1 on iTunes and being a Wednesday maybe, just maybe it'll make #1 on Sunday.

     

    I don't mind which is no. 1 between 'Titanium' and 'STIUTK'. I've always preferred songs sticking at no. 1 to prove their worthy but at least 'Titanium' has climbed to its peak and accumulated a decent amount of sales. So I'd be happy to see Gotye's track follow suit.

     

    Will.I.Am stalling at #3 could be a real wake up call to record companies. Holding back this release was clearly not the right approach after the Kings Of Pop cover sold enough to officially make the top 40. 'T.H.E.' should've been released at least 3 weeks ago I reckon. It may not have been #1 even then but it would've sold more in the long run than its held back release suggests it will.

    But that's all assuming that Look Back won SF1. If it was revealed it had done, then I would perfectly understand where all the hype is coming from, but it seems that people are just getting carried away with the idea.
