There's nothing wrong with vocal runs just as long as they don't use them in the first 30 seconds of a song. When a song builds up to the massive final chorus it can be the makings of a brilliant vocal performance. However, build the song up too quick then you go back to my earlier point of "screaming and shouting". The worst example I ever heard of this was Kelly Clarkson singing 'Since U Been Gone' live. She built up the first verse and had a big first chorus. The problem was there was still a verse 2 so instead singing it like the studio version, she used to sing it a whole octave higher and when the second chorus kicked in, several dogs could be seen running around frantically in circles and chasing their tails. :lol: (ok, so maybe not but you know what I'm getting at - it sounded dreadful anyways :P )

G'won 'Little Talks'. Brilliant staying power for a song that peaked at #12 officially. Same with '212' come to think of it. Shame neither made the top 10. Would be pleasantly surprised but happy to see Of Monsters And Men go top 10 if that was to happen.

The thing that grates on me the most about Jessie J is that she wants to "feel" the emotion in a song. Some people can do this beautifully without resorting to screaming and shouting their way through a song. Sadly, "screaming and shouting" is Jessie J's idea of emotion. No wonder Sir Tom Jones won The Voice last year. He's by far the most sensible judge, gives his artists some really good song choices and, imo, cares the most about his team. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Sir Tom Jones won The Voice again this year.

The Script might release another song from their album. Sir Tom Jones might release a new Greatest Hits set? :D

No chance of Jessie J outselling Robin Thicke this week. :lol: Jessie J has shot up iTunes fast, yes. Let's see if 'Wild' is still high up iTunes at the end of the week. 'Blurred Lines' I predict will remain #1 on iTunes until Union J come along and potentially ruin things.

I didn't see it all but can someone please tell me what's the deal with Alex? He's one of the bookies faves to win (or at least was about a week ago). He murdered 'Don't Wake Me Up' in his blind audition, and sounded ghastly in his battle round. Then both Will.I.Am and Danny fought to keep him. I don't get it. :lol:

...but on the flip side, do the UK really need to send a ballad three years in a row? :D The irony is, the one year the BBC do send something uptempo, a ballad will probably win. Probably Azerbaijan too!!! :lol: I would've still said an act like Hurts could potentially deliver the goods but the singles from their second album aren't a patch on their debut so I doubt even Hurts would win Eurovision representing the UK.

Oh but he did Jonjo. :( He did his signature finger in the air move as he sang "you" in the line "if you love someone...". It was the most important part of the whole performance. :D

I've never seen an uptempo song performed on live TV have precisely 0% buzz and atmospheric reaction from the audience in the studio (usually the audience start cheering and stuff during any instrumental breakdowns - Tulisa's had none).

The covers of songs on iTunes are weird. I checked to see if Zara Larsson 'Uncover' was on iTunes but it wasn't, but a couple of fakes were. Why is it weird? Because when I previewed two of them they were clearly the same singer but they were listed as two different acts on iTunes. I don't get why 'I Love It' is being held back so much. Had they released it back in January, it might've sold 300k by now if not more.
