Buzzjack in an OCC online survey!
That is brilliant. :D How did you stumble across this Jester? Did someone inform you or was it just a pure "omg, what?" moment when you saw the word "Buzzjack" appear?

bjsc lvii ~CONFIRMATIONS~
Well, I've now discovered two songs that are now in contention (make some space for me Mr. Seize, PM imminent(ish) ) Do I go with the euphoric uplifting pop/trance hybrid, or do I go with the more subtle but equally *.* esque indie/dance track? Decisions. :(

bjsc lvii ~CONFIRMATIONS~
I'm still hoping to find something great over the coming days to replace the song I've already confirmed. :(

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 4th August 2013
I think the remix going top 10 bodes well for the actual release next week. I do hope Ellie can be a #1 contender next week, really like 'Burn'.

bjsc lvii ~CONFIRMATIONS~
Well, I've entered the song I was going to send to the next Unknown Pleasures. As much as I like the song, I can't help but feel I'm just here to make up numbers this month.

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 4th August 2013
Listened to the remix of 'Burn' on iTunes and as Thermo said, it's basically the original with a dubstep beat played over the top. I'm more surprised that whoever it is has successfully (so far) managed to get the track onto iTunes and see the remix going top 30 if it really is fake. Next weeks chart battle could be more interesting with Ellie Goulding Vs Katy Perry if 'ROAR' does indeed get released on 12th August (although Ellie would have the advantage of Sunday sales)

Ahh well, congrats to Miley Cyrus for what looks like a guaranteed UK #1. Who'd have thought this would happen six months ago (bit like Robin Thicke and Daft Punk).

New Release Schedule 5th August 2013
Oohh, so this is actually happening. They've been using the music as soundbites on several different channels. Think it's being used on E4 for one of their shows, and it's definitely being used on Smash Hits TV for one of their adverts (if you can call it that, it's moreso a visual jingle  ). Could well be a hit in waiting. Of course, we heard it here first in BJSC all thanks to Arrs.

First swear words, then pop stars, now The Bloodhound Gang. Russia will end up just banning everything that doesn't speak Russian...including animals. It's times like these when I feel sorry for Arrs. :( Pavel, not so much!!! :D

Predict: DJ Fresh vs Diplo - Earthquake
Urgh CHRIST, I'm sure there will Buzzjackers who love this but that slightly off pitched siren synth makes me want to rip my eyeballs out. Just sounds like a badly warped vinyl and it just does not appeal to me. At. All. So yes, top 10. :D

Review the Chart Show Host (BBC)
Re; Bruno Brookes "chart is being compiled and coming in", I'm pretty sure back then the people listening would've believed him. It's only now looking back that we know it was just a load of nonsense talk but it was those type of comments that made it sound like Bruno was genuinely interested in seeing what track was coming up next...even if he actually did know the full chart beforehand.
-
Predict: Ellie Goulding - "Burn"
I really like 'Burn' but then I really liked 'Figure 8' and that didn't exactly become the hit it deserved. However, being a new single I'm predicting top 3 at least for this track. Naughty Boy feat. Emeli Sandé and a declining Miley Cyrus will be its main competition. If Lady GaGa's new single is good then GaGa might challange for a top 3 entry that week too. Of course if Katy Perry does release her new single 'Roar' the week before, then that could change everything.

Review the Chart Show Host (BBC)
Maybe it's an age thing idk but for me Bruno Brookes made listening to the UK Top 40 exciting in the late 80s/early 90s. As this was around the time when I started getting into the charts and just discovering music in general Bruno was the perfect choice. Also helps that back then the DJ was required to play all 40 songs. If Radio 1 had been using the 2004 formulae in 1989 I would've turned off the radio after 30 seconds. Mark Goodier was almost as good as Bruno, but for me lacked that bit of enthusiasm in his voice that Bruno seemed to have (THE SHOUTING, EH DAVE? :D  ), Imagine the Now! album adverts with Bruno Brookes voiceover instead. :D "Hello, I'm Wes" was sadly the turning point in the Radio 1 chart show. This is where the show went from playing 40 songs within 3 hours to just playing whatever and then spend the rest of the time talking inane banter <--- purposely Italicized because it really wasn't even banter. By the time JK & Joel made their way to presenting the top 40, their show was pretty much the Radio 1 equivalent of Dick & Dom In Da Bungalow (children's TV show on Saturday mornings). Embarrassing doesn't even begin to cover it and by this point, listening to the chart show had well and truly become a thing of the past. \o/

If anyone wants me to help then send me PMs :D (I need some inspiration)
-
bjsc lvii ~GOLD ROOM~
Hmm, I've got a song but have a feeling it might be the song Robot is referring to. :o Will have another look tonight/tomorrow. Found another track I'm liking but it feels so much like an Unknown Pleasures type song (basically what Liam said about his entry - indie, male vocal...only isn't like The Weeknd) so I'm unsure. :(
-
Albums with very late big hits?
Iirc, 'Leave Me Alone' was only available on the CD version of 'Bad' and back then the majority of its sales were from the LP in which 'LMA' wasn't actually included. So it was almost like a bonus track for the CD version. I guess the reason the track got to #2 was that people who bought the LP were able to finally get 'LMA' as a single. The music video no doubt would've helped boost its sales at the time (even if single sales in general were pretty poor in early 1989)
-
Albums with very late big hits?
'Filthy/Gorgeous' by Scissor Sisters provided them with their highest charting single in January 2005 (peaked at #5) at that point and was the fifth single from the album.
-
iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 28th July 2013
Still roughly 75% off Avicii but I'm delighted to see 'Summertime Sadness' actually becoming a hit, even if it is thanks to a remix. Lana Del Rey could well continue to pull ahead of John Newman/Robin Thicke next week and secure a top 3 place whilst Avicii and Miley Cyrus battle for #1.
-
What chart interests you the most?
Definitely the singles chart, and not just in the UK. I also like to check out singles charts in other countries as I often discover some gems that I would otherwise never hear of if I only followed the UK chart. I've never really followed the album chart. The singles chart has always been the more exciting for me.

 Naturally I opted for the iTunes free song of the week. Saved myself 99p and used that money to download 'Walking On Air' (that's right, I support my own entries beyond BJSC :D )
