I just think a lot of Daft Punk's fans were disappointed with the material they released in 2005. I still think 'Robot Rock' was a lazy song as I commented in that weird Daft Punk new band thread. :lol: 'Get Lucky' is probably being hailed as a true return to form kinda like Kylie Minogue when she released 'CGYOOMH'. Why else would 'Get Lucky' be selling in such big numbers? For me, it's purely down to the fact they've delivered an incrdible song and it's appealled to a widespread audience. Still doesn't mean the album will sell bucketloads. The albums market is just not what it was 6/7 years ago. I do believe that this will change but it'll probably end up including stream sales or something to boost album sales in the next couple of years. idk?

...but I said 7 :o Oh well, it was good while it lasted. :lol:

Trying to be realistic here, I'd say 101-125k. People just don't buy albums like they used to so it's difficult to see this selling bucketloads.

Having seen the video to 'Heart Attack', I can't help but think that Demi is trying to be Kelly Clarkson circa 2005. I don't mind the track but I'm fully supporting Daft Punk to get a potential 4th week at #1 and shoot up to #1 in the YTD chart. :D

Not listened to these yet (oops will do this evening) but GD's comment above about this being a "dancy edition" interests me.

Daft Punk still have a mighty lead on iTunes so I think they've got a good chance of remaining #1 next week. Demi Lovato could be as high as #2 next week depending on how well Passenger does. Still think StooShe have a chance of going top 5 whilst Wretch 32 is possibly set for a chart entry between 6-10.

Yeah, this is the most obvious #1 contender right now. Last time I was as certain of a track going to #1 was 'Need U (100%)'. If it's top 40 on iTunes with just a pre-order, this is bound to smash big time when it is finally released.

Soon? After tonight's show I'd say they've snapped already. :D

Have to agree with Jack on this one. It really does define clunky in a spectacular way (even Girls Aloud 'Something New' wasn't this clunky!!!). It sounds like they've listened to all the big club bangers from the last 2 years, pinched ideas from all of them and tried to make a new song putting them together. Like Jark says, the breakdown is abysmal. Calvin Harris' similar breakdown in 'We Found Love' sounds a billion times better in comparison. The chorus makes me think of 'Starships' by Nicki Minaj. That robotic voice that says "make love, don't fight, let's f*** tonight" is wrong on so many levels. :lol: (probably tried to come up with an "every day I'm shuffling" tagline and failed big time). That aside, Pitbull's Spanish rapping is an inspired addition even if the lyrics are just as mumbo jumbo as 'Don't Stop The Party'.

Looks like The Wanted will be #1 then once it's released. Saw the video on Capital TV this morning and thought the video (being a spoof of other boyband videos) would've actually been a brilliant idea for the 'Gold Forever' video with that being for Comic Relief. As for the song, let's just say I still think 'Glad You Came' is their best. :D

I'd hope we have sufficiant time to listen to the songs and vote so that it doesn't clash with BJSC too much. See what others say, but I think we had 2 weeks last time to vote iirc?

When I first heard 'Slip' it sounded like a massive hit in waiting. I still think it'll do well when released. Just because Radio 1 haven't playlisted the track means nothing. 'Moves Like Jagger' and 'Start Without You' both did well without Radio 1 support. Capital TV have been playing the video to 'Slip' so it's getting support from other commercial radio stations. Doubt it'll be #1 but I'll be very surprised if it isn't top 5.

I have a gut feeling Chris Malinchak may well peak at #3 behind Daft Punk and Rudimental. I'm still not 100% sold on 'So Good To Me' so personally would love to see 'Get Lucky' get a third week at #1 equalling 'Mirrors' as the years longest running chart toppers. As for Armin Van Buuren, it's a shame 'In And Out Of Love' never did anything in 2009. That is an absolute choon!!! :dance:

It takes a very special song to grab the public's attention and keep a boyband at #1 for more than 1 week. The last time this happened was 'Glad You Came' by The Wanted. Before that, it was JLS 'Beat Again' in 2009. Take That 'Shine' was the time before that. :P I just don't see Union J achieving that. I've yet to hear 'Walks Like Rihanna' so who knows how the new single by The Wanted is going to fare.

I'd be very happy to see Union J stall and enter at #2 (or lower) but the week 'Carry You' is released, the record company will pump so much money into their 5 day promotional campaign, they might as just buy the #1 single for that week. :P If 'What Makes You Beautiful' could drop 01-03 after selling around 150k in its first week, Union J will be very lucky to sell that much and their tail off is bound to be sharper. A 01-04-13-32 chart run wouldn't surprise me at all right now. As for 'Blurred Lines', I can't deny how much it's growing on me. In fact, I reckon there's a possibility of Robin Thicke knocking Daft Punk off the top. Would be quite a feat for featured vocalist Pharrell. When was the last time a featured artist appeared on two back to back UK #1 hits?
