It was performed on The Voice last night. Re; Gabrielle Aplin's new single, I find it quite disappointing after a rather lush cover of 'The Power Of Love' and, imo, the sublime 'Please Don't Say You Love Me'. Her new single hasn't had anywhere near the same impact the first two singles did. :(

The highlight of tonight's show purely for the fact it was wrong on every single level possible was that lad from Hear'Say doing a jazz version of 'Wannabe'. :lol: No wonder nobody turned round. I suspect he was forced to perform that song/style by the producers just for TV purposes (same with the lady from Bucks Fizz) but I agree that they should allow the judges to choose as many as they want. Then they have to whittle it down to 12 contestants as that way great auditions at the end don't suffer because 2 acts are full, and the other 2 just don't have any interest in that singer (ie; the Welsh girl). Amazes me that last week Danny chose a young lad who sang 'Locked Out Of Heaven' yet he sounded absolutely dreadful. It made me wonder what Danny was thinking. Liking the song does not mean the singer is good.

'I Love It' is on the release schedule but it's really bugging me that it's supposedly getting release the same day as Union J's debut single. Why would they do that? :( I'd rather give Icona Pop the chance to get released the week before Union J so that if 'Carry You' did top the charts, it'd most likely plummet in week 2 and 'I Love It' could maybe reclimb to #1 (in an ideal work 'I Love It' would just have 3 weeks at the top instead :P )

Robin Thicke's song is surely going to be one of the big summer hits of 2013? Then again, I'm basing this on the fact it's doing so well already in several other countries but then agsin it wouldn't be the first time a massive European hit didn't quite translate into UK popularity.

Actually that is a fair comment. Look at Jedward 'Lipstick' on Eurovision night. All I could hear was the backing singers who ended up making Jedward sound good ( :manson: ) so solid backing vocals can do wonders to a performance. Sadly, when you listen to some of the UK's Eurovision performances over the years, the backing vocals have been ATROCIOUS. :lol:

No Ryan, the song IS boring. I've yet to listen to the song in full, it just bores me by the time it gets to the second verse. Apparently there's some remix of 'Believe In Me' but there's only so much life you can inject into a dead song. :( If the UK do well in Eurovision this year, I can't help but think it'll be because people voted for Bonnie Tyler rather than the song. Then again, hardly anyone voted for Englebert last year but the BBC purposely refuse to learn their lesson. I'm already dreading what the UK's entry for Eurovision 2014 is going to be. :D

Yes, dance music is definitely the genre of choice right now although I'd say it's been building up to this point over the last year or so. It's also refreshing in that it's not all the same type of dance music. You have Rudimental, Disclosure and Daft Punk - all their singles are so different, and this is why the dance genre has always been brilliant. It also helps that their singles are high quality, although I'm not getting into this new Disclosure feat. Eliza Doolittle track as much as I thought I would. :( Well, an improvement is still an improvement nonetheless. :P In 40 singles time, Lana might crack the US Top 20. :D Such a shame 'Summertime Sadness' didn't get a UK release. It made #1 in my chart last year purely from the success it had gained in central Europe. I'd been loving the track pretty much from when I bought the 'Born To Die' album and it stood out instantly for me. Ok, the ending to 'Summertime Sadness' is a bit of an anti climax but still. :P The thing about 'Still Into You' is that it has a strong resemblance to something Gwen Stefani/No Doubt would've released 8 years ago. It's definitely their most radio friendly single to date which probably explains why I like it so much. :lol:

Probably because 'Robot Rock' was a lazy attempt at a hit. Robot Rock eVVfZAZdIUs They might as well have just re-released 'Release The Beast' by Breakwater instead. I think Daft Punk should've released 'Technologic' as the lead single as it's become a far more iconic track since its release (Busta Rhymes sample, Pizza Hut advert). 'Get Lucky' just oozes cool and is 100% original. The success of 'Get Lucky' is well and truly deserved imo.

This is what happens when two UK #1s have "get" in the title. :kink: I know there was hype and buzz on the internet/blogs surrounding 'Get Lucky' but I honestly didn't think it'd be such an instant hit. It's so rare for things like this to happen. Can't think when the last time a song was near #1 on iTunes on its first Kworb update without the aid of pre-orders. Don't even think 'We Found Love' entered as high as #2 when released. 'Young And Beautiful' has become Lana's highest charting single in the US. :o Another "who saw that coming?" moment. :D I agree, Lana definitely isn't a singles artist and I still think they shouldn't have reissued 'Born To Die' with the extra tracks because I already had it because they could've released a second album with those tracks back in January instead and it might've sold a lot better. Also think 'Ride' would've benefitted more from a quiet release week in January. My neice is a big Paramore fan but their earlier songs just didn't appeal to me whatsoever. I did like B.o.B's track 'Airplanes' though, not that it's technically a Paramore track. :P

Pretty much exactly what David Guetta does on his songs. :P
