Ghosty ended well and truly on a high note, if you're going to go, you gotta do it with style. Martin has done this, and then some. Huzzah!!! \o/ :D I'm sure Martin is only stepping down because he has other commitments in his life so it's only fair. Anyways Ghosty has been tremendous with BJSC and with this news I'm even more glad that Caerfyrddia finally got a win ('The Deserters' to win BJSC - The Rejects pls thnx).
  2. It depends on the lead single. They got the whole 'Teenage Dream' era absolutely spot on for Katy Perry. 'California Gurls' only had 1 or 2 weeks of UK airplay then the video was released as the song became available to download. Ended up selling 127k in its first week iirc which was brilliant sales for 2010. If they get the marketing spot on again, and the lead single has mass appeal, Katy could easily do 150k first week. As for Lady GaGa well, who knows how that's going to pan out.
  3. Hi Sir Seize :D 01 | 01 | Ghost Loft - So High [35-08-03-01-01-01] Amazing, I can sort of imagine you slightly panicking when you realised you'd won BJSC in a "well, that wasn't supposed to happen". The low predictions only made the win all the more sweet and it's my fave BJSC winner since...erm, 'Supreme' so 2013 is going splended as far as I'm concerned. :P 03 | 05 | Arctic Monkeys - Do I Wanna Know? [44-19-11-08-05-03] The staying power of this track really is remarkable considering their previous singles all seemed to be flash in the pan "top 10 on iTunes for 24 hours" then disappear without trace. 'DIWK' has probably outsold all their last few singles combined, and it's showing no signs of disappearing yet. 04 | 02 | Bibio - Á tout á l'heure [39-10-05-03-01-02-02-04] A great track, one I really wanted to award points to but I did prefer 10 others in the final. It's still in my chart and working its way up slowly but surely. 05 | 07 | Lorde - Royals [41-31-20-20-13-07-07-05] This has had a rather odd chart run for me, peaked then dropped then repeaked and is now dropping again. Seeing the music video a few weeks helped boost the song back up my chart. 06 | 11 | Le Youth - C O O L [35-20-11-06] Jark should be so proud, he entered this into BJSC last year and made my top 10 off the back of that contest. Brilliant track, great to see it looking set to become a decent sized UK hit. ...and before I bore you with endless comments a nice little round up of my personal faves between 11-50. :D (songs I already know that is) 12 | 08 | John Newman - Love Me Again [35-16-06-05-03-02-03-01-02-05-08-12] 17 | 12 | Avicii (ft. Aloe Blacc) - Wake Me Up [35-19-15-12-17] 18 | 18 | London Grammar - Wasting My Young Years [38-11-02-02-01-02-04-08-13-18-18] 20 | 15 | Postiljonen - Supreme [32-04-01-01-03-01-02-05-09-15-20] 24 | 20 | Disclosure - F For You [47-32-27-20-24] 27 | 21 | Muse - Panic Station [49-36-28-24-19-21-27] 29 | 22 | Joywave (ft. KOPPS) - Tongues [25-11-07-04-04-06-12-17-22-29] 36 | 32 | Daft Punk (ft. Pharrell Williams) - Get Lucky [40-11-02-02-01-02-04-04-06-08-14-21-28-32-36] 37 | 27 | Fenech-Soler - Magnetic [45-20-12-08-07-10-16-20-25-27-37] 38 | ** | Korallreven - Sa Sa Samoa (Elite Gymnastics Remix) [38] 42 | 45 | Rudimental (ft. Foxes) - Right Here [50-45-42] 46 | ** | Until The Ribbon Breaks - 2025 [46] 49 | 35 | AlunaGeorge - You Know You Like It [34-31-35-49]
  4. Cheers Liam :D 07 My least favourite single from this album - would have preferred 'Sl*t Like You' or 'How Come You're Not Here' - but I still like it and am happy with its release as a single. I think this could be another Top 10 for her, which I believe would be the first time that has happened for her! Have to admit, I don't have 'The Truth About Love' so can't really comment on those album tracks you've mentioned although I've read similar comments in the UK Chart forum. I really like 'True Love' but it's unlikely to follow up the previous three singles by making the top 3 in my chart. 16 Not completely sold on this yet. It's no 'Sex On Fire', that's for sure! Not as good as 'Radioactive' either! :( I'm sure they'll have another big selling album regardless anyway. Yeah, even 'Radioactive' got as high as #3 in my chart when it was released. I reckon the dizzying heights of 'Sex On Fire' and 'Use Somebody' were one offs and KOL probably won't ever release another single that had that much widespread appeal. Then again, 'Sex On Fire' was being played constantly on the radio prior to its release so if radio don't support their new tracks, then KOL will struggle to get another hit single. I do agree that their album is bound to be #1 but in the current album sales climate they'll probably sell 60-70k which would actually be very good compared to recent weeks. 40 This is a guilty pleasure of mine too! :kink: Certainly their best song ever as it is the only one which doesn't annoy me in some way or another. 'What Makes You Beautiful' remains their best song for me. It was the perfect introductory single for the boys, a fun uplifting song with a big singalong chorus perfect for karaoke machines. :D The shameful thing is the number of times they've tried to recreate 'WMYB' and it's paled in comparison. Will David Bowie's 'Valentine's Day' be charting soon? Should enter my chart this week, not as good as the previous 3 singles mind. I've honestly not even heard 'Valentine's Day' yet so can't really comment on that.

  6. Cheers Martin :D 01 (01) Avicii - Wake Me Up (01-01) [2 wks] SNAP!! again  How many SNAPS have we had this year? :D I think Avicii, Daft Punk and John Newman are the three main ones. There have been some brilliant UK #1 singles this year. 07 (--) Pink feat. Lily Rose Cooper - True Love (07) [1 wk] She seems to be on a winning formula this era, she timed her singles perfectly from the album with the exception of her lead single Blow Me, its so much better than her previous studio album "Funhouse". If there's one thing Pink is usually successfulk at, it's her choice of singles. I don't know if Pink decides, or the record company dictates what gets pushed as singles but this era has been handled excellently. For Pink to have a worldwide #1 with the third single from the album is really quite remarkable. Usually it's a classic case of diminishing returns where each singles does worse than the previous. In Pink's case, she reversed the trend. 16 (--) Kings Of Leon - Supersoaker (16) [1 wk] Their last album was not that great, so I'm not expecting anything great this time round either, but this single seems back to form, its hard to come back with a huge album after "Only By The Night" unless your name is Adele  It's a decent track but I really do think the OA/OS treatment might have hindered the songs chance of doing well. In this case, it would've been better to have 4/5 weeks of built up airplay then release the track on a Sunday. Releasing the track on a Thursday was a really weird idea. Typical record company decision I reckon. And you got the title of the OneD track wrong its "Worst Song Ever!" ;) Seeing the music video sort of helped in this case. I found the first part of the video quite funny and the song itself isn't that bad.
  7. Thanks Jade :D

Have you not registered your country name yet? Go on, you know you want to. :D
  11. I started asking others for their opinions purely because I noticed this was something a number of others were doing and I was feeling a bit left out (a bit like being the boy who is always left until last when selecting the school football team) so was interested to see how it would work. It gives me an insight into what other people like and I always give others my honest opinion about their choices. Co-incidentally when Johnkm PM'd me three of his contenders when I was hosting BJSC, I actually rated Quadron third out of the three songs. Come the final I gave the song 12 points so sometimes a song can grow after the initial listen. Maybe that's why people do it, if they already know some of the songs beforehand, they're more likely to enjoy them more when the semi final voting starts because they're already slightly familiar with them so they have an advantage. Idk?
  12. Sunday night saw Caerfyrddia host the final of BJSC LVI and The Daily Hits are glad to report that Batidas finished in a respectable 13th place with our entry 'Walking On Air' performed by Anise K, Snoop Dogg and Bella Blue. For the first time Batidas were left til the end as Manufactured Superstars waited patiently to announce the televotes. In what proved to be an extremely close final, it was our 12 points awarded to Trifoski that sealed their victory with the sublime track 'So High' by Ghost Loft. The Daily Hits would like to congratulate Trifoski on their amazing first win and we're already excited about the prospect of a Gold Room. No expenses spared, eh? :D **article published in The Daily Hits 29th July 2013 ^ Yes, that would be yesterday but I was a poorly Hits so wasn't online. :(
  13. My entry is amazing* * don't have anything atm :( Going to have a search around over the coming days so really haven't a clue what I'll be sending next. :o

I've always just voted for the song that I adore the most. One month it might be a beautiful haunting ballad ('Video Games', 'Colours', 'So High'). Another month a sublime slice of Swedish alt-pop ('Supreme') or just a track that draws me in and makes me think "wow" ('Run Boy Run'). Maybe I should rank all my 12 point entries since I joined and see what styles have proven to be the most successful. *.*
  15. Also kudos to Ghosty as well for presenting the results this way. Really thought Hendinia had it in the bag (ftr, I mentioned having a shock winner because it would be completely unexpected - nothing against 'Run On Love' as it's a great track). I got the shock winner anyways and words can't describe how fantastic it is. (I guess ballads aren't everyone's cuppa tea)
  16. I predicted you would get your best BJSC hit since Sky Ferreira. Wow, had I given you my 12 there would've been a joint winner this contest. :o
  17. I'm genuinely gobsmacked as I'd never imagined Ghost Loft would even come close to winning but I adore the song. Like 'Video Games', it's hard to describe why I love the song so much. Amazing winner in a really strong contest. N DNTN weren't far off my top 10 too (well, just checked and you were 15th :D ).
  18. All the pressure on me. :o
  19. Syndare  Can't believe my votes have been left until the end (or second last) :o I never would've expected me to potentially have the deciding vote.

  21. Bloody 'ell, knowing my votes are still to come this could end up being so so close. :o
  22. Ooohh the top 10 just got more brilliant. :D
  23. G'won Kylienips. Maybe this will be the success it deserves to be after all. :D
  24. Ojnoj 1st, who'd have thought eh? :D
  25. This is starting to get interesting now, still have a gut feeling Hendinia are going to win but Ojnoj, N DNTN, Aeroche and Aquafina are all in with a shot. :o
