BRITNEY SPEARS: (Since late 2005) #8 Gimme More #18 Piece of Me #4 Break The Ice #1 Womanizer #16 Circus #14 If U Seek Amy #21 Radar #10 3 I like Piece of Me much more now, a great pop song. Womanizer finished as my #6 of 2008, and had this chartrun. 8-1-2-2-2-2-1-2-4-9-13-20-28-38-45-61-71-84-95>19 wks A rare case of a song climbing back to #1 in my chart. The only other songs to manage it in 5 1/2 years are: ARCTIC MONKEYS - WHEN THE SUN GOES DOWN (3 & 1) MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE - WELCOME TO THE BLACK PARADE (2 & 1) DIZZEE RASCAL - HOLIDAY (4 & 1) Womanizer spent all four weeks inbetween returns to #1 behind The Killers - Human, which went on to finish one place behind at the end of year, being my #7 of 2008.

Unsure of all my previous #2's, but I can remember two in particular. My longest running #2 that never made #1 is Kid Rock - All Summer Long. It spent 5 weeks at #2, four behind Dizzee Rascal - Dance Wiv Me and one behind The Ting Tings - Shut Up And Let Me Go. This was its chart run 16-6-3-2-2-2-2-2-4-9-17-26-31-38-43-50-59-74-88->19 wks I'm quite glad in hindsight really, as though I did love it at the time, its not stood the test of time as well as the other two (Ting Tings especially). It dropped out quickly mainly because it was a song that had no place as summer wore off. It finished as my #8 of 2008. My best performing song that never made #1 is Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars (yeah, I know). It spent a then record 11 weeks in the top ten, a then record 21 weeks in the top 40, and was around for longer in the top 100 than any other track on my chart history, bar one. It was my #3 of 2006. 4-2-4-6-3-2-4-5-10-9-10-11-16-23-25-26-27-31-33-39-39-43-41-41-47-53-55-59-58-66-69-75-77-83-86-93-89-90-97-95-99->41 wks It's definitely stood the test of time aswell. The only tracks that kept it off #1 were Muse - Supermassive Black Hole (8 weeks at #1; #1 of 2006) and Kasabian - Empire (3 weeks at #1; #7 of 2006). The only song to ever chart longer than this is The Automatic - Monster (#4 of 2006), which lasted 42 weeks, a record unlikely to ever be broken due to the slightly sped up nature of my chart nowadays.

LADY GAGA: #1 Just Dance (feat. Colby O'Donis) (#2 of 2008) #1 Poker Face (#1 of 2009) #3 Paparazzi (Top 50 of 2009) #7 LoveGame (Top 100 of 2009) #9 Chillin (with Wale) (Top 100 of 2009) #1 Bad Romance (#9 of 2009) #1 Telephone (feat. Beyoncé) (Top 10 of 2010) #3 Alejandro (Top 50 of 2010) #32 Dance In The Dark #2 Born This Way [*so far] Probably the most successful act of the last few years in my chart. Just Dance first charted in late October 2008 and was eventually my Christmas #1 that year, Poker Face spent 15 weeks in the top ten, three at the top, LoveGame probably undercharted due to me hammering the album earlier in the year. Telephone has spent the longest on top of all her songs, with 5 weeks. Dance In The Dark I shouldn't have charted really, I charted it in October 2010 when it was released to airplay as a single, but I'd long gotten over the album and it seriously underperformed. Would have easily made top ten if released much earlier.

KATY PERRY: #9 I Kissed A Girl #2 Hot N Cold #25 Thinking of You #13 Waking Up In Vegas #1 Starstrukk (with 3OH!3) #1 If We Ever Meet Again (with Timbaland) #1 California Gurls (feat. Snoop Dogg) #16 Teenage Dream #1 Firework I Kissed A Girl charted about 4 months early for me, after being curious about it when reading the Billboard charts. Hot N Cold peaked at #2 on Christmas week 2008, behind Just Dance, my #2 of 2008. Hot N Cold itself was my #23 of 2008 after a long chart run in the top ten. Starstrukk and If We Ever Meet Again followed each other at #1 and both had four week stretches on top, as did Firework. California Gurls got there after a long top ten run during a quiet week.

TAKE THAT: #19 Patience #1 Shine #45 I'd Wait For Life #5 Rule The World #33 Greatest Day #14 Up All Night #10 Said It All #38 Hold Up A Light #3 The Flood Shine deserved #1 at the time certainly, however i'd probably now put it behind The Flood and Rule The World as my favourite (post-comeback) songs. Greatest Day probably underachieved, but the song never really came to life, plus it was around at the strongest time my charts probably ever had. The Flood has had the best run of theirs, so far it's gone: 24-5-3-4-5-4-5-5-5-7-11->11 wks*

THE SATURDAYS: #10 If This Is Love #6 Up #27 Issues #12 Just Can't Get Enough #12 Work #16 Forever Is Over #6 Ego #13 Missing You #22 Higher (feat. Flo Rida) If This Is Love made #10 on a quiet-ish week. Ego is their best song looking back. I was so disappointed with Higher in the end, the chorus let down the whole song for me. Quite consistant over time really. Not released something really duff as of yet.

LEONA LEWIS: #56 A Moment Like This DNC Bleeding Love #47 Better In Time #22 Forgive Me #4 Run #64 Happy #17 I See You (Theme From Avatar) DNC I Got You Her cover of Run is great, but I think i've been a little unkind over time to Ms. Lewis. The Avatar theme should probably have been a top ten hit, and Better In Time certainly deserved better. I hated Bleeding Love at the time, but now we're a few years down the line it's a decent ballad really. I Got You was a total non-song.

I've lost most of my records unfortunately but I do remember a few distinct #11 peakers. Pussycat Dolls - I Don't Need A Man is probably my most successful #11 hit, it was in my Top 100 of 2006 anyway. Likewise, The Hoosiers - Cops and Robbers reached #11 and was in my Top 100 of 2008. One I distinctly remember though is a song which actually peaked higher than #11, but spent ages stuck at that position. PNAU - Embrace (which I actually saw in Dandy's chart, would never have found it otherwise, cheers!) was my #10 of 2008, and had this bizarre chart run that I saved for future reference. 27-13-6-4-9-11-11-11-11-10-12-28-17-17-26-31-35-38-47-58-63-70-75-81-89-100->26 wks The big drop in the middle was over Christmas 2008. It kept theatening to creep back into the top ten, but the end of 2008 is probably the most competitive time on my chart that I can remember. MGMT - Kids had a similar chart run at the same time, but that was inside the top ten more than it was out.

CHERYL COLE: #16 Heartbreaker (with will.i.am) #24 Fight For This Love #3 3 Words (feat. will.i.am) #39 Parachute #47 Promise This The Flood has yet to chart. Needless to say, she's done rather better as a member of Girls Aloud. Just for reference, Nadine failed to make the Top 100 with Insatiable. Edit: I forgot Heartbreaker.

Gaga is probably the favourite to get to a fifth #1. Just to note, the artist on this list with the most #2's is Editors, who've had three. Edited to include Rihanna, who I forgot.

I tend to put songs that really deserve it at #1, or anywhere for that matter, even if I don't really like the track as much now. Of course sometimes a song over/underperforms due to significant or a lack of competition. Underachievers generally last longer anyway as a result. Anyway. Here are a few tracks which I like and even love, but stand out as not being quite good enough in hindsight to be #1. 2006 06. GOLDFRAPP / RIDE A WHITE HORSE (Probably the only track I've ever made #1 that was a big mistake. Went 1-4-4-18-23-39 in my chart. Ironically I like it a lot now) 16. FALL OUT BOY / DANCE, DANCE (Inferior to four other FOB songs which didn't make #1. This Ain't A Scene... did however, and was my deserved #1 of 2007) 2007 02. THE AUTOMATIC / RAOUL (New version, and re-released, thus re-entered. Monster also got #1, but definitely deserved it) 08. TAKE THAT / SHINE 09. TAKE THAT / SHINE (Two weeks on top!) 2008 22. THE TING TINGS / THAT'S NOT MY NAME 23. THE TING TINGS / THAT'S NOT MY NAME (Good song, definitely on top by default though) 43. JACK WHITE & ALICIA KEYS / ANOTHER WAY TO DIE (Bond mania) 2009 01. JAMES MORRISON feat. NELLY FURTADO / BROKEN STRINGS (Good song, not #1 worthy though. Went on top inbetween 6 weeks of Gaga during a quiet week) 05. TINCHY STRYDER feat. TAIO CRUZ / TAKE ME BACK 06. TINCHY STRYDER feat. TAIO CRUZ / TAKE ME BACK (Loved it at the time, and like it now. But #1? Plus it knocked Poker Face off the top, and is inferior to Number 1 and You're Not Alone, both of which never made it) 10. KELLY CLARKSON / MY LIFE WOULD SUCK WITHOUT YOU (Quiet week again) 2010 35. ROLL DEEP / GREEN LIGHT (I'll probably regret this in a year's time. Enjoyable, but inferior to Good Times which only made #6!) My current #1 is BLACK EYED PEAS / THE TIME (DIRTY BIT). I have no doubt i'll regret this in years to come, especially as I Gotta Feeling never made it, but for right now it's great.
  12. Hardly listened to any albums in 2010, so they and artists are largely irrelevant. Pendulum were top of both just for the record. Top 40 played tracks of 2010: 1. 3OH!3 – Starstrukk (feat. Katy Perry) 2. Pendulum – Watercolour 3. Tinie Tempah – Frisky (feat. Labrinth) 4. Lady Gaga – Telephone (feat. Beyoncé) 5. Tinie Tempah – Written In The Stars (feat. Eric Turner) 6. Timbaland – If We Ever Meet Again (feat. Katy Perry) 7. Mike Posner – Cooler Than Me 7. David Guetta & Chris Willis – Gettin' Over You (feat. Fergie & LMFAO) 9. Swedish House Mafia vs. Tinie Tempah – Miami 2 Ibiza 10. Pendulum – Witchcraft 10. Swedish House Mafia – One (Your Name) [feat. Pharrell] 12. Lady Gaga – Alejandro 12. B.o.B – Airplanes (feat. Hayley Williams) 12. Pendulum – The Island, Pt. II (Dusk) 15. Ke$ha – Take It Off 15. Mika vs. RedOne – Kick Ass 17. Pendulum – The Island, Pt. I (Dawn) 18. Roll Deep – Good Times 19. 14. I actually wrote this down as I thought it was unbelieveable. My longest track to peak was Innerpartysystem - Die Tonight, Live Forever. It was had a remarkable chart run between October 2008 and April 2009, reaching its peak of #15 in Week 18 and still being there on Week 20, in an unbroken run that climbed at first, fell, and then reclimbed after Christmas. Only six songs have spent longer in the chart than this, and they all reached the top two. 72-44-40-37-37-36-34-34-33-36-44-56-70-66-48-32-19-15-15-15-18-26-38-48-63-77-90-99->28 wks Needless to say, the follow up single Don't Stop had a much more regular chart run that peaked at #9. I also have records for tracks that took ages to make #1. There are three that took 8 weeks apiece to reach the summit. Gnarls Barkley / Crazy: 4-2-3-11-12-6-4-1-1-4-etc Wiley / Wearing My Rolex: 15-6-3-5-4-3-2-1-1-3-etc Lady Gaga feat. Colby O'Donis / Just Dance: 13-6-4-4-3-3-2-1-1-1-3-etc

Eminem] #7 S&M [*so far] I don't think i've had such a dramatic opinion change on an artist as I have with Rihanna. Looking back, Take a Bow was criminally underrated, probably would have been top ten now... Edit: LLWTL Part II made #1! :D Edit2: Added S&M
  16. I guess that's what happens when rappers start making pop music! :] Some great tunes here, as always. Need to check that Tove Styrke song out, seen it on a fair few charts now...
  17. I would guess that if it is a supermarket chain that has ballsed up, that it would affect very few singles dramatically. Apart from Matt Cardle/X Factor/Other high physical sellers I reckon that the rest of the market will not have been affected by even as much as 1%, seeing as 99% of singles are downloads, and last week especially would have been even more than that.
