Poor Ellie! She'll be forced to rejoin people like Alicia Keys again who have had many chart hits, with none of them being #1 but with a couple of them coming admirably close. Also sucks that I think Ellie Goulding and Lady Gaga are on the same record label in the UK. :lol :(

'Roar' • First Single
I am a fan of Katy Perry and I like simple lyrics as much as the next person, but 'Roar' takes the biscuit. I know her target group might be young but surely they're not about 5? I JUST WANT MORE WORDS WITH MORE THAN ONE SYLLABLE IN. Saying that, I don't mind the song after a few listens. I don't tend to like lead Katy Perry singles, I find all the singles that come after to be much better. 3 VIDEO GAMES AVERAGE RATING: 8.84 "He holds me in his big arms, drunk and I am seeing stars, this is all I think of" http://i41.tinypic.com/2s0lpcl.jpg Just making the top 3 is 'Video Games'. Fans and non-fans of 'Video Games' need to appreciate that this is the track that got her noticed online and helped with the release of 'Born To Die' and the record deal. And as her first proper debut single, it does hold a special place in many Lana fans' hearts. The track itself is very reductionist with there being just mainly Lana's voice with some light instrumental in the background. It is a very moody and sombre track. Lana confirmed in an interview that the song is written about two past boyfriends. The verses are meant to represent how she wanted her relationship to be with one of the men, whilst the chorus is about how her relationship was with the other man. The vocals are very sad sounding, but the lyrics are bittersweet happiness with an underlying melancholy, much like her other material. Critics regard 'Video Games' as a haunting modern classic, suggesting it is still her best song to date. Lana is, again, in full story-telling mood here as she reminisces the days gone by, which is all perfectly well but with the material she's putting out, maybe her best days are still ahead of her. She has been compared to Nancy Sinatra. Video Games peaked at #9 on the official UK chart and has sold over 400,000 copies. It remained in the top 40 some time and climbed up the chart when 'Born To Die' (The single and the album) were both released. It also received some very healthy scores from raters here, and despite not achieving many 11s, it did get a very good bank of 10s as seen below. The official homemade video to 'Video Games' has now achieved about 100 millions views, split between her Vevo account and her personal account. cE6wxDqdOV0 TOP RATES: 11 Chez Wombat Jester 10 X leww x Dandy * Mariah Scary O Mie d'Bartoli Grebo Ashley Acoustic JosephVickers1D vidcapper

I'd love Rihanna to rush release something in the next couple of weeks. Then it'd be like 2011 all over again with Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Rihanna dominating the charts. Hopefully it'll make Rihanna step up her game a bit now and actually make music videos for her future singles.

It's also tragic when her granny was more entertaining in 1 minute than she has been the whole series. Jack & Joe are beyond irritating and need to go, and Dexter's gameplaying is just bad now. I think Charlie or the twins will go this week, depending who's up. Though if Dexter, Sam and Sophie are up then I think Dexter might go.

I never really warmed to 'Antenna', I just find everything about it so grating.

The Wanted - We Own The Night
I imagine they want to keep their momentum going and know it'd die down with 'Walks Like Rihanna' soon. I haven't heard this yet but I'm sure nothing could be worse than WLR.

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 11th August 2013
I hope Ellie can FINALLY get a #1 hit. I didn't think it would happen because although her lead singles always peak highly, they always fall short (though they do hang around for ages). I think then her lead singles always overshadow her second singles which all underperformed/flopped and then her third singles pick up a bit. Whilst 'Burn' is far from her best, it's still a good catchy pop song, and I do hope it can boost Halcyon/Halcyon Days to #1 because IMO it's a better album than 'Lights'.

4 RIDE AVERAGE RATING: 8.81 "I'm tired of feeling like I'm f***ing crazy" "I'm trying hard not to get into trouble, but I've got a war in my mind" http://i44.tinypic.com/2a82tet.jpg Making it to the number four is the mighty 'Ride'. The single was the lead single from the re-release of the album, 'Born To Die: Paradise'. It gave Lana another top 40 hit at number 32 but fans have always thought it deserved to be higher. Sometimes regarded as her best, you guys didn't quite agree but it's nearly got there and is the only track from the 'Paradise' EP to make the top 10. The initually instruments, smoky lyrics and and clever lyrics lead to a very melancholy feeling. The lyrics start of slowly as she compares a love interest to her father, something that has also been seen throughout the rest of the album. 'Ride' does build up speed through the huge chorus and then slows down for the second verse, before the all dramatic bridge and it literally sounds she throws everything into the very special last swooning chorus. 'Ride' speaks of being alone but just carrying on regardless because there's no alternative. Again, there are themes of desperation, particularly in the pre-choruses "Don't leave me now/Don't say goodbye/Don't turn around/Leave me high and dry..." She also confirms that she is emotionally unstable having a "war in her mind." Critics have praised the bridge "I'm tired of feeling like I'm f***ing crazy", arguing it is a rare glimpse of raw emotion in her songs, rather than similies and metaphors. Critics have also argued that this is as special as 'Video Games' whilst others have called it boring. The single was accompanied by a 10 minute mini-movie showing life on the road and featuring bikers and older men. It is accompanied by narration by Lana discussing how her mother said she had no fixed personality and how she feels like she doesn't have a home. The monologue at the end speaks of how she's finally found her people, people who have nothing else to lose or gain. She also uses the line "Life fast, die young, be happy and have fun," which is perhaps her interpretation of the American dream. She asks listeners if they are experiencing their fantasies, finishing with the line "I am f***ing crazy, but I am free". Personally, I am so glad this finished in the top 4 because it is my favourite Lana track to date and I just find it so special and I feel a connection to the song on a personal level, particularly in the past when I've felt alone. It got a good amount of 11s and 10s in total, but perhaps it suffered by being on 'Paradise', the half of the album that raters were perhaps more unfamiliar with. However, other than one 0 it received, its lowest score were sixes which is very impressive. In fact, I should probably add that it got by far the most 11s with it almost doubling any other track in the countdown. 5 BORN TO DIE AVERAGE RATING: 8.74 "Feet don't fail me now, take me to the finish line..." "Don't make me sad, don't make me cry, sometimes love is not enough and the road gets tough I don't know why" http://i42.tinypic.com/2hnxlw6.jpg Just making the top 5 is the self entitled track, 'Born To Die'. This was the second single released by Lana Del Rey and was pre-album which helped it peak in the top 10 at #9. The track sold well and the album reportedly sold 50,000 copies in the first day of release, already cementing Lana with a large fanbase. At the time of this, 'Video Games' and the album were released, there was a lot of speculation on whether this material was all part of a marketing ploy, or if it came from Lana herself. Such lyrics that provide ambiguity include "Walking through the city streets/ is it by mistake or design?" The song made a lasting impression on many of its listeners, and despite only gaining one 11, it received many scores of 9 and 10 too. The instruments used include drums which helps to give the pounding chorus a lot of life. Lyrically, 'Born To Die' speaks of relationship and determinism, in the way that you can't help how you feel about someone you're in love with. The title 'Born To Die' is also ambiguous and could refer to life, the relationship, or just mean that there is no escape and it will always be that way between each other. It also speaks of trying to have a good time when times are tough and the lyrics show a lot of confusion over Lana's childhood and what she wants. The music video was released in January 2012 and features tigers, as well as a gory scene with Lana lying bloody and dead in her lover's arms. I've listened to that preview and on first impressions, I'm now blown away by many of the new tracks. Hopefully they will be growers. 'Stay Awake' is something special though.

6 BLUE JEANS AVERAGE RATING: 8.18 "You fit me better than my favourite sweater" "You went out every night, and baby that's alright. I told you that no matter what you did I'd be by your side 'cause I'mma ride or die, whether you fail or fly. Well shit at least you tried." http://i43.tinypic.com/9zu0yv.jpg The first single to show from either of the album halves is 'Blue Jeans', however still managing to finish at a very respectable sixth place! 'Blue Jeans' appears to be another one of those marmite tracks that has a huge range of votes come in (11 votes with a score of 10 and over as well as a 0 and a -1) . It seems to incorporate rappy verses with a slow, romantic, desperate and emotive chorus. I'm under no illusion that there is a strong difference in individuals agreeing if it works or not but it does seem to last a lasting impression. There are also gangsta themes in the lyrics. Lyrically, it speaks of falling and completely being in love and speaks in a past tense in the style of reminiscing which makes it feel all the more real and sad, and Lana is quite good at storytelling in her lyrics, which, IMO, is a good thing. The song then moves on to the chorus where she discusses her dedication to her ex-lover, pleading to be remembered. The second verse then discusses how her love interest had other commitments such as gang life and chasing money. Lastly the bridge is possibly the most genius part of the song with it being fast paced and manic and really shows the struggling and Lana's passion to hold on to her love interest no matter what he did and what happened, but ultimately, it didn't work out. It charted in the UK at #32 and was the third single from 'Born To Die'. It was performed live on 'The Voice' and is accompanied by two music videos, one homemade Lana style one, and one official one. 7 DARK PARADISE AVERAGE RATING: 8.10 "Your soul is haunting me and telling me that everything is fine, but I wish I was dead" http://i40.tinypic.com/zyaib9.jpg The last track to have not been promoted as a single is up next, which is a very impressive title to hold is... 'Dark Paradise'! It is found on the standard edition of 'Born To Die'. This track appeared to be hugely popular amongst raters scoring three 11s, the highest amount of 11s from any track so far in the rate. It was rumoured that it was going to be a single instead of 'Cola', but ultimately neither actually happened as singles and after a delay, 'Young and Beautiful' was released, followed by 'Summertime Sadness' since. Lyrically, it is a very deep and emotional song like a lot of Lana's material and it speaks of dreaming about someone in a perfect way that isn't necessarily helping her get over it. The dark themes are carried through with a catchy chorus making this an emotive number that will get stuck in your head if you give it a chance. The demo versions are very different and I, personally, prefer them! q9eoABPcMYE TOP RATES: 11 Liam Regina CallumTheSats4 10 Eyes Kath SceneofSIXcrimes Acoustic

I have no idea what to make of Dexter anymore. Sophie is very annoying and doesn't seem to do anything but moan. Jack & Joe annoy me for different reasons. Joe is more bitchy but more adult I think and Jack is just "My mummy says it's true so it must be true". Grow up. Hazel is the worst though to be fair, she is very clever.

Big Brother: Secrets & Lies // Part III
I agree. I still think Conor should have definitely been evicted. When he took the £50,000 I just felt so deflated, and I know it's just a game show but I felt like justice was never done. I think Charlie is handling everything pretty well to be honest. You see people become overly aggressive in the BB house if a lot of people turn on them sometimes but she's always calm and talks about it in a very deep way and I think that is very commendable. I also think it's really nice of Sam and Dexter through it, but Hazel is a complete loose canon and I am back to thinking she is a vile game player again. No way on Earth Charlie has deserved that. I don't really know what to make of Dexter and Gina anymore. I've gone from despising the former and then now finding him tolerable and I think Gina is genuine or trying to play a massive game.

Big Brother: Secrets & Lies // Part III
Callum was too aggressive for my liking yesterday, but Dexter needs to stop playing the victim because most of the housemates are actually falling for it (apart from Gina and Sam).
