christmas charts
did "No Way No Way" seriously get to No14? at least people nowadays are paying about 50p-£1 to download rubbish off ITunes but that would have been people actually buying physical CD copies of that for about £3.99. The thought boggles the mind to think that anyone could actually like that and enough to get it that high in the chart at Christmas time when CD sales are usually quite high (well at that time anyway) I just wonder if that was pulled along by some sort of campaign like we see nowadays, possibly to stop the Spice Girls in those days or something

Who should be this years Christmas number 1?
fully agree with this, especially the part about MOH and the original release of it. Not really any interest in buying a song which I bought originally in January when the EP was released on ITunes just to "stop" another version of the same song getting to No1 because it's an inferior version. The song was A-Listed on Radio 1 and Radio 2 and was promoted enough for it to enter higher than it did but these "campaign" people obviously didn't bother to download it and now it's "we must do this to stop this song" but they say it's to promote Biffy's creativity rather than stop Cowell and his song. Personally I don't really think it's a Biffy classic song and I usually download the EPs so I can get the Biffy b-sides which are usually quite good so I'm not too bothered about the song being covered. The guy seems a nice guy even if his voice doesn't seem right for the song and that key change which just cheapens the song but I'm quite glad that they've decided to use a good song for once compared to the sort of thing XF usually covers the only thing I can say is it's going to be a very nice Xmas for Simon Neil and his family, the amount of royalities should be very nice indeed ;)

iTunes Chart: December 2010 (II)
never mind his physical sales which will be massive, I reckon Cardle would win this easily on downloads anyway. There isn't a RATM competitor this year which will sell 450-500k and going on the voting figures, I expect much more than the RATM 500k figure is probably needed this year to have a chance consistently the top rated contestant says he's going to have much more fans than last year's winner

iTunes Chart: December 2010 (II)
hopefully Biffy can keep enough momentum to get the original song into the top ten on Sunday, that's pretty much where the original deserved to be anyway when it was first released as for the winner's single, as a Biffy fan for a number of years I'm not really too bothered about it. The guy's voice is typical Cowell and they've introduced the usual key change into the song which always seems to be the formula for a Syco song. I wouldn't say he's destroyed it as the song was never really a Biffy classic to start off with anyway, if he started touching stuff like Justboy or older stuff then I might have had a problem wtih it it will gain Biffy more exposure than they could ever dream possible in the UK and I doubt they'll have too many problems accepting the royalities which are gonig to be quite massive it looks like :D

Chris' Top 50 Albums and EP's of 2010.
thought Serj's album was one of the disappointments of the year :( as mentioned it's nowhere near like his first solo album but the 3 tracks I heard before it came out were so much better than anything else on the album unfortunately. Shame as I absolutely loved his debut solo album but I'm not sure if it was experimenting a bit too much or the songs were just of poor quality I guess that's why SOAD are restarting again next year as Scars On Broadway didn't do too well either

SYSTEM OF A DOWN DUE TO REFORM!
noticed this news a few days ago, was listening to the self titled album and Toxicity earlier. Only time I've seen them live was 2nd on the main stage before Metallica at Leeds in 2003 and it wasn't that impressive if I'm honest - although Metallica were awesome that night so that's probably why I was a little disappointed with SOAD would love some new material from them as well, as much as I like Mezmerize/Hypnotize, I'd rather an album in the style of the first two albums with Serj taking on the majority of vocal duties rather than Daron

My Chemical Romance - Danger Days
available to listen to now in the usual places, it's on Youtube as well as they had an "live album transmission" on their website last night. anyway, don't expect The Black Parade part 2 here and don't really expect any of the previous albums to sound like this. This is definitely an album that needs to grow on you as the listener won't instantly love half of the songs I reckon. I wouldn't say it's their best stuff after hearing 2 or 3 times but I'm enjoying the majority of the songs and how they've changed their sound. The only real problem I've got with the album is there isn't anything like The Sharpest Lives or Thank You For The Venom on there Na Na Na and Vampire Money (at the end of the album) are probably the only straight up rock/punk songs on the album. Everything else seems to sound like it's had influences from the 80s, a lot of synths and guitars in the songs but they are typical My Chemical Romance without sounding like them if that makes sense . Good album if not as good as any of the previous 3 from first impressions, maybe I'll have a different opinion if asked next year or something though It actually sounds a bit like Green Day did with their last two albums. American Idiot was their concept album with the theatrics as My Chemical Romance had with The Black Parade then Green Day came out with 21st Century Breakdown with which they tried out different sounds but still made it sound like a Green Day album. This album has experimental attempts at songs but it still sounds like a MCR album favourite tracks are probably Bulletproof Heart, Planetry (Go!), Destroya, The Kids From Yesterday and Vampire Money. Although I do like the songs that leaked before like The Only Hope For Me Is You etc

The Top 10 For Your Christmas Stocking...
pretty much a lot of posts on this subject within this forum but I couldn't really care less. If Cowell wants his No1 spot, then let him have it. The UK No1 spot has practically no prestige nowadays anyway, majority of the 2010 No1 songs have been rubbish. When I was a kid, the Christmas No1 spot was a prestigious thing but nowadays it's a 3 month campaign to get some nobody who has some singing talent to the top and then try to make a career out of them or drop them when their first single after the X-Factor promoted one flops these "campaigns" are pointless because it's already been done before with the RATM one last year. That was good because it was the first time somebody has really attempted to do something about the XF and they used the internet as a tool to help with it. Campaigns after that are just jumping on the bandwagon and I don't really think anybody cares if the XF wins or not now. None of the Christmas No1s they've had will ever be put up with any of the classic Christmas songs, pretty much the same as the RATM song to be honest if there is any campaign it should be for Fairytale Of New York because that is a song that did deserve the Christmas No1 spot but I guess people will start downloading that from November and it will be hanging about the top 20-30 when the big day arrives

next 3 weeks = album battles!
MCR album will do better in the US than it will here I expect. Mid November-Late December is when the non-regular album buyers are out in force buying Christmas presents and that's when album sales seem to rocket, I think it will reach the top ten just but it could also miss out depending on what sales are like then. The Black Parade was No2 in the US and UK when it came out but that was in October where the big 4th quarter albums are only just starting to come out personally I'd like to see JLS flop but it's not going to happen, Take That will sell around 400k+ in the first week because it will be discounted by supermarkets who will probably have impluse stands at certain places in the shops.

My Chemical Romance - Danger Days
he is right in saying they are terrible songwriters though but I reckon MCR's bad rep comes from the amount of teenage fans they have. I'd be surprised if a lot of people who say they don't like them have even listened to any songs away from the singles that are released stuff like Demoltion Lovers and Vampires Will Never Hurt You from I Brought You My Bullets,You Brought Me Your Love. DL is probably one of the best songs they've done infact You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison, Thank You For The Venom (which was released as a single) or I Never Told You What I Do For A Living from Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge The Sharpest Lives or Sleep from The Black Parade not a surprise that people say they don't like them when singles like Teenagers are getting released for the radio and if you were ever to venture on to the last.fm shoutbox of the band it's basically teenage girls going on about about Gerard Way or something like that. I'm looking forward to the new album as I've practically liked anything they've done, I don't like all the teenage obsessed fans they have but I can live with it because the band's music is very listenable

A Silence at number 1 for Christmas 2010
should go for Take The Power Back from RATM if you wanted another one from them ;) seriously though I think Fairytale Of New York should be the one to use this year, such a great Christmas song that really deserved to be No1. The problem that will go against this is that it will almost certainly be in the chart before Christmas with people downloading songs like this and Mariah Carey in the weeks before the big day as any sort of campaign would probably only work against the XF in the week of the XF physical CD/download release

My Chemical Romance - Danger Days
http://bulletproofheartx.tumblr.com/post/1...hemical-romance next single off the album entitled "The Only Hope For Me Is You" sounds very similar to 30 Seconds To Mars with the synthy intro and the general tone of the song but the chorus is basically catchy MCR, another song I quite like :)

Manic Street Preachers - Postcards From A Young Man
I'd probably say it is as If You Tolerate This was in a time when British rock bands would get played on the radio. Radio 2 will only play rock band music if it's simple and uncomplicated (think Many Of Horror by Biffy Clyro) nowadays as Radio 1 don't seem to bother with Manics or stuff like that nowadays. Don't think I saw (It's Not War) Just The End Of Love on the R1 playlist so I guess they are avoiding the band or something
-
My Chemical Romance - Danger Days
the intro/riffs used through it sounds like Rocket from the Crypt - On A Rope to me, not sure if that's what you mean
-
Manic Street Preachers - Postcards From A Young Man
more likely it wasn't the lead single because (It's Not War) Just The End Of Love sounds like a radio hit, I doubt R2 would bother with Golden Platitudes. It is a good song though, I will agree there. Considering they played Postcards From A Young Man and Some Kind Of Nothingness on the Jools Holland show on Friday night, I'd think one of them will be the next single. I'm hoping it's the title track as I like that and the radio would probably use that as they did with the first single

My Chemical Romance - Danger Days
pKK3GzMbcFU new single there, premiered on Radio 1 last night when Zane Lowe played it. Not exactly the greatest lyrics/title but it's catchy as hell. Been a fan since the debut album for this band and I've liked all of their albums so I'll be looking forward to November 22nd when the album with the strange title comes out
-
Manic Street Preachers - Postcards From A Young Man
album is very much a grower I think, I didn't think much of it from the first listen but as I continued to listen to it, I started to love most of the tracks I don't really think the single was that bad to be honest and I'd like to see Some Kind Of Nothingness and Postcards From A Young Man being singles taken from the album. obviously it's not as good as old Manics as nothing will touch their peak but I think this is similar to SATT, a good album that has some really good songs on it
-
The Almost Saturday Charts w/k ending 17th Sept 2010
nice to see the Manics high up in the pre-order singles chart, would be good if they could get a high new entry with (It's Not War) Just The End Of Love I can't really see it fitting in with the usual ITunes buyers so it probably won't get to No1 but top 3 would be a good result

Is there a lack of Rock Music in the charts?
there isn't really a lot of rock music in the charts but I wouldn't really care as I wouldn't want the good stuff associated with some of the rubbish that appears in the top 40 anyway. for instance the new Deftones album has reached No6 in the Billboard 200, it reached a pitiful No26 here compared to XF rejects and Glee who go straight to No1 despite their albums being nothing in quality compared to Diamond Eyes which in my opinion is one of the best albums of the year so far and probably nearly the best album the band have done. Obviously the band are more known in the US and probably have less promotion over here than XF reject or Glee but it's still an album that should be much higher
-
Deftones - Diamond Eyes | 03.05.10
yeah they moved the release date up a few weeks when it leaked, should hopefully get the CD on Saturday as HMV are quite good for that sort of thing online
-
Deftones - Diamond Eyes | 03.05.10
listened to this last week and it's more like the earlier Deftones rather than the later which is completely fine with me don't have a problem with the later stuff but I loved Around The Fur and White Pony. Will be getting the CD when it comes out May 18th
-
The Gaslight Anthem - American Slang - June 14th
yup, looking forward to this one as well :) loved the first two albums and American Slang sounds quite good from what I've heard on the Myspace page
-
The Dillinger Escape Plan - Option Paralysis | 23.03.10
as good as I hoped it would be, the usual DEP experimentation songs like the last one but some real belters in there as well. A band seriously at the peak of their powers :) probably my album of the year so far, but we are only 3 months into it
-
What's your worst songs of 2010 (So far)
if your music taste revolves around the charts, then no it's probably been quite a bad year so far for music. Although I do have to admit to liking Fireflies  if like me, you like bands who will more likely never get near the charts, then 2010 music wise has had a great start to the year :)

The Dillinger Escape Plan - Option Paralysis | 23.03.10
CmweV3jkoNg not the best quality in the world I will agree, but another song from the new album due out in less than 2 weeks B) already got the limited edition digipak ordered don't like this as much as Farewell, Mona Lisa but it sounds quite good, need better quality though I reckon
